Oh I realize that "legally" any money you provide via Kickstarter is just a donation with no guarantee of anything in return. Anytime you're putting money against a promise it's a gamble... I honestly don't think the service could work any other way though. In order to guarantee anything it would have be insured and as soon as that comes into the mix you're basically subjecting the kickstarter projects to the same corporate scrutiny that they'd have to go through to get a bank loan. At that point whole ideal of direct, untarnished, interaction between project producers and end consumer is broken.

I like the Kickstarter service, yeah you have the potential to get burned, but you just have to back responsibly, do your own research into the projects you're funding and don't pledge anymore than you'd be willing to gamble and lose.

As someone who works in the mail service as a courier, do not blame OUYA for whatever condition it came them. Only blame them for what is(or isn't) in the box. The postal service, FEDEX, UPS, DHL, etc all treat their packages like shit. After working here only a week, all the innocence we pictured the USPS or any other courier service has been demolished for me.

I always package things assuming someone is going to drop the package and kick it around a bit... I just wish more businesses assumed the same thing when they package them.
