[Poll] Do you collect G1 or G2 steelbooks?

Title says it all

Recently I was surprised to learn how many dedicated G1 collectors there were on here.

I really thought there were an almost even number of PS3 and xbox collectors and therefore assumed the steelbook collecting would be about the same.

Now I'm not so sure :think:

I am a G2 collector first and foremost. I dabble in G1's but that's just due to studios/developers not giving us enough G2 steelies :(

So what type of steelbook collector are you?

The More You Know:

G1 - Refers to Generation 1 sized cases, DVD/Xbox 360 sized cases

G2 - Refers to Generation 2 sized cases, Blu-ray/PS3 sized cases

(I realize there is probably a thread for this somewhere but if there is, I don't think making a new one is a bad idea)

I don't tend to hunt down steelbooks as I'm not a dedicated steelbook collector, but I do buy them if and when I see/like them.

I've gotten more into steelbooks recently, but still just collect for both G1 and G2.

Games tend to be mainly G1, with the occasional G2 PS3 release.

Movies, majority are G2 since I mainly buy on Bluray, and occasionally a G1 if I see one cheap, or a bluray copy isn't available xx

I guess what I am really asking about is which do you prefer given the choice?

Given the same steelbook in both sizes, I have yet to find one that I don't like better in G2 form

Now granted differences are usually minor at best but that's my opinion

prefer G2. im only collecting steelbookgames i like/own. A few are G1 only for PS3 so thats why i have G1 aswell.

Same as you mosavon. Really prefer g2, but g1 is fine to. Any steelbook that gets released with ps3 game i need!!

Oddly enough I was going to put a poll option specifically for Lemur

Seeing as how he's the king of steels and that the way he collects doesn't really fit nicely into any of the poll options

Obviously he, like many of you, collects the steel(s) for any game that was released on PS3

G1 only. After finding this site recently I have gone a little overboard buying steelbook cases. For instance, just today i bought the following in g1...

Assassins creed 3
Black ops
Mass effect 2
Mass effect 3
Hitman absolution
Modern warfare 3
Batman arkham city (whoch might not work considering im in the us and I noticed after the face its PAL region 2 :-(

I was originally Xbox then that packed up and moved to ps3 then my 60 gb backward compatible bit the dust (I cried) and picked up a great deal on an Xbox. Then bought a new slimline ps3 last Christmas. Mostly buy for ps3 but some for Xbox as you do.

And, of course, being an uncharted and heavy rain fan...

And prefer g2 over g1 and steels for games I have / love over ones I don't play but also collect g1 as I am a steel addict... :barsong:

I collect for any games on PS3 regardless of size. But G2 is always my preference in the event both sizes are available. Go G2!!!!! :bananayes:

No favourite size, but they all have to be uniform (I have no G1 PS3 cases).
Preferred order of multiplats: 1.Wii U 2. 360 3. PS3

Almost all my movie steelbooks are G2 as well (except for two or three French releases that I have).

However, sometimes we are forced to have G1 (Mass Effect 3 CE, Freedom Edition etc).

I'm a ps3 guy so I also prefer G2. Unfortunately, all my cases have to match up in size (OCD maybe?) so I only go for G2.

I do the majority of gaming on the 360 so it's G1 for me.

I do however have a PS3 and a few G2 steelbooks.

If I had to choose, it'd be G1, the majority of cases are that size so that makes it easy. :D
