I never open any CE, with the exception of Doom 3 and World at War...
My gaming days are pretty much dried up. I don't recommend the dual versions. It sucks too, cause I'm more of a retro collector, but alas this has taken funds from getting more in terms of retro finds...On a side note though, I prefer retro games, however I can't play retro games at all (Like some retro fans out there)...Ewww

I agree! I wish I could spare some money for a new console, but lately I've been spending too much money on some rare game collectibles. Besides, I still have a huge backlog of games to go through.

If you notice the Manhunt on PS2 and Wii, notice how when I bought them, the guy forgot to take them out of the security case they were in (Hence the taller cases)...This is really nice collection a bit of OCD lol

Survived another Gamestop midnight launch! I definitely got hooked up in my opinion. They took everyone's Ghost editions out of the bubble wrap and cardboard box, but literally left mine in the box in the back employee room until I got to the front.
After hearing and seeing all the reports of damaged Ghost editions, I feared the worse. But alas, everything checked out A-ok! Anywho, [Spoiler Alert]I'm now waiting for the Xbox 360 and PS3 counterparts[/Spoiler Alert]
Now those I'm damn near queasy to my stomach in anticipation of some damage, but we shall see...

I don't know how you have the room to store all of this from all the different systems you buy for. I remember when the GameStop I frequented would give me special treatment when I preordered stuff. Sadly, that is no longer the case since mine got shut down and it doesn't seem like any of the other one's care. It actually has caused me to immensely slow down on buying games. Part of the reason I haven't bought a One or PS4.

lol. don't ask me, I'm still not quite sure how this manage to pass QC...then again, I can only assume Nintendo contracted the cheapest company to manufacture these.

From what I've been hearing from other sites, people are reporting that the amiibos coming out look very different from the E3 prototypes. Which makes sense considering they were prototypes, but people are going so far as to say they look like cheap Chinese knockoffs.

Oh I thought it was a variant? So it is a mistake that is has 2 gun arms? How is that a mistake? I mean there is not way they put a right arm on the left as the gun would point backwards/down. Or are the forearms separate parts? I figured there were a solid cast of plastic?

Yeah it sucks! Wish we could push for like an eBay investigation on low feedback bidders like this. Sucks, cause I was content on that $950 price tag, but this is creeping out of my wallet range now (All because of low feedback bidders). I've seen some bids get retracted, so I'm hoping like the top two or three get taken back at least...:(

Ok, there's another defective Amiibo on eBay. That's not tooooo surprising, however the item descriptions are too similar. Is this just a red flag in my head? Both from different locations and stuff, but I don't know now. Everything LOOKS factory sealed and authentic, but who knows. Especially in the day and age we live in with fakes/counterfeits...
Any opinions on this?

Regarding the "stealth opening" - I'm thinking it is nigh near impossible to do so... there are several videos on how to open these things with "minimal" damage to the outer packaging, but I haven't seen a single way to open it with NO damage anywhere. They all involve cutting/slicing either the cardboard below the plastic or the plastic itself. Any of the methods that actually remove enough of the plastic to get the figure out all seem to cause damage to the cardboard in some shape or form and this auction does not show any of the damage.

The BEST method (and what I'll likely use for mine) involves cutting the bottom of the plastic (the perforated part) and then using needle-nose pliers to pull out the metal disc on the bottom so at least they can be used, but that method does not leave enough room to remove the figure at all and still shows some damage. If I was a betting man, I would consider that the odds are certainly in your favor of the legitimacy of the piece. Even if there was some method for somehow removing the glue without ruining the colors, the auction was put up so soon that there wouldn't have been enough time to do so for anyone who didn't have inside-access to these.

The plain shield Link is actual the first I've heard of it (whereas the Samus one was announced on launch day or sites like Kotaku and such). So can't vouch for that.

There's a matching crease/whatever on the other side too. Watch this video and tell me it couldn't be re-sealed if it was done meticulously. Note how he uses the knife to slice right up to where the creases/whatever are on the Samus figure in question.

Then again, holding my amiibo under a lamp I was able to reproduce glare in those exact spots. Ask for close up photos of where the plastic meets the card at the top two corners. With two photos (from different angles) of the same spots it should be obvious whether the creases/whatever are actually glare or something more.

Search YouTube for opening amiibos and you'll find many more videos, but this one doesn't seem to damage any of the plastic in the process. I don't think it would be impossible to carefully cut as per the above video, and then re-glue with a light coat of super glue or something. The chances of there being some visible evidence of tampering in that case is likely pretty high though. Then there's the separate matter of modifying the Samus figure.

What nintendo system if I may ask? I used to think it was easier to spot a reseal on Nintendo games, like NES/SNES/N64 especially (H-Seam/Y-Folds), HOWEVER...
I remember looking at some games at GameStop and they had USED games with some Y-Fold seals and everything. The crazy world of deceit and counterfeits we live in unfortunately...

It's tough Texas - I'm still leaning towards this is completely legitimate. It'd take a LOT of precise work to make sure that you cut only the glue without damaging the plastic or artwork, and then the mod to the figure itself would take some additional time and would arguably be noticeable unless it was a real pro. The bottom of the box looks almost exactly like 3 out of the 4 or so that I've looked at recently. The bottom "seal" isn't exactly glued like the other sides (at least on several of mine), you can put toothpicks/etc. through the perforations and there's not really any glue on that part (IIRC).

At the end of the day, its your call - but if it turns out to be fake somehow, you should have no problem getting your money back I'd assume. If you pay with paypal and use a visa/mc even if its a debit (instead of bank account #) you can also just file the claim with them if eBay for some reason or another wouldn't work out.

Either way, let us know if you win it. If this one sells for a ton though, I wonder if we'll see some copycats actually trying to forge these and sell them? :scratch:
After seeing those pics, TF...my opinion is this one's real. Look at that one that shows both sides, no glare. No glare, no creases, no nothing. I agree with Knight. When word gets out that this kind of thing is worth 1k+ and is possible to counterfeit, it's going to get a lot murkier. Your seller's story and photos seem legit to me. See if you can get it with an original receipt. :thumb:

Still, that price is ridiculous. Buy it and at the very least you'll have to live down the reputation of an eccentric. :D

Edit: The bottom seal of my amiibo is not 100% intact either. It's safe to assume some seal separation is normal.

The poster I got from Gamestop. The cool thing about the poster, besides the image...Its like a durable poster. It's not like the typical paper poster. It's almost like a laminated poster..
The sleeve I got from Best Buy. The sleeve was initially made for people who preordered the game, however I went calling around, and found a Best Buy a few miles up the road that had a few extras, so they held one for me...The BEST part about the sleeve though...(See pic below)...

Yup, yup. Got the CE from SquareEnix. Also have the CE guide coming in from Amazon, but for some reason it got switched to backorder or something? Also, was able to pick up the poster and GS dlc today. My mgr friend held a few back and one for me! :woohoo:

Now to head over to BB and hope they still have extras of the sleeves there! I see that they're selling them on their website for like $30 though. Worst case scenario I pick up the exclusive DLC and sleeve on eBay for $18 or so.

I'm curious, what did you think of the quality of the "steelbook"? (or do you leave it sealed?)

Congrats, wow! Definitely nice acquisition. If I were to collect PS4 consoles, it would be this and the Anniversary edition.

Picked up my Far Cry: Primal deluxe editions today..I'm so mixed on this game. I absolutely LOVED Far Cry 4, however the lack of firearms in this one seems boring to me. I hope I'm wrong, and I enjoy this one as much as FC4. Anywho, I'm anxiously waiting for my doorbell to ring...*it's killing me*

Well as long as you have a Juggernog is all that matters..You never know though, sometimes CEs come back online at later dates..For cheap too...

Yeah I passed on this game. I wanted to get the CE to unbox but they were sold out on Amazon so that really made me ignore the game even more after that. I am interested to see how well it does.

Yes, I'm assuming the dagger thing is separate only. The CE itself is definitely EU. Wish the US would have got a "Better" CE than their deluxe release. FC4 at least gave more in my opinion...

Anywho, I preordered a limited edition on all three systems, as well as the collector edition on all three systems as well. Cool thing about it, GameStop hooked me up with SIX of those Cayde-6 figurines..I just had to get these editions JUST because I know how fast they sell out. Otherwise, I would have passed…
