A toy company called 3a has apparently been working on a really cool set of Portal 2 figures
Pre-order for them is to open later this month
3a's websites are very confusing as they seem to have like 6
3a Production Blog (http://www.threeaonline.com/blog/)

Here is a picture of some prototypes

From a third party source.
ThreeA's versions of Portal 2's Atlas and P-body made an appearance in ThreeA's booth at ACG 2012, fully painted and with their own Portal Gun for some hot co-op puzzle solving action. This is the first look we get of the two painted prototypes since we last saw them earlier in 2012, all naked and gray. Both these figures look amazing and are incredibly detailed and realistic. According to the ThreeA forum, they will actually have the eye animation sequence, too, which just adds to the realism. The figures look to be about 12" or so in height. As usual with prototype ThreeA figures, these don't yet have a release date, price, nor do know whether these will be sold singly or as a pair, but they should be available sometime in 2013
Apparently 3A toys is well known to some. It's a hong-kong based toy company and is responsible for that Massive Metal Gear Rex, so certainly not amateurs
And these do appear to be genuinely licensed

How much do you think the pair will retail for?

hmmm, Real Steel Atom exclusive was $320
Frank and Sippy were $155
I think Dark Cowboy with horse was 270 or 320 (it was 270)
I'm thinking the set of both of these guys is going to be $350 to $400
Individually $175 to $200

The price normally includes worldwide shipping though, so it's the same cost for eveyone around the globe.
The MGS REX was $490 including shipping, expensive but damned impressive!
The best place for info is probably the 3A Legion Outpost (http://www.threeaonline.com/forum/) forum

Do you think payment will be required up front for these?
Plus, do you actually see them being released in 2013? Or do you think it'll be 2014 before we get them ? xx

Yeah, since it's paypal, you'll pay the whole cost (with free shipping) the same day you pre-order. They're a reputable company so its a safe transaction. Bet this will be mailed out first quarter 2014.

Damnit. Won't have the money to pay up front. Ah well, will just have to wait and order from Sideshow like I did with MGS Rex (although I cancelled that :haha:) xx

They have a link to this information from their facebook page.....
There is a lot of interest about 3A x VALVe Portal 2 Atlas & P-Body figures and while we are preparing for the pre-order, here are answers on the most frequently asked questions:
* Height of the figures: Atlas around 27.5cm (10.8″) and P-Body around 30.5cm (12″).
* Batteries: Altas & P-Body 1 x CR2 battery for each figure and each Portal gun needs 2 x AG4 batteries.
* Their Aperture Science Handheld Portal Devices (aka Portal gun) are removable and not attached to their bodies.
* Bambalandstore will have set and singles for pre-order. Singles will be offered to retailers later on (so no set option for retailers).
* Price for singles at Bambalandstore will be under 200USD and even better price for two figures, if you are going for the set. We will announce the exact price soon.

I'm really glad I got in on the 2-pack. Apparently preorders only stay open for a day or so on bamaland. Anyone who missed out can still preorder singles at all the usual places, BBTS/Urban Collector/EntertainmentEarth/etc.
I'm hoping there is some kind of exclusive packaging for getting in early. It always burns me a little to pay up front and have so much dough tied up in something so far out from release.

I think you should write an unboxing article and send it to some of the editors to post it! Awesome, thanks man

XD I will do that once my house is clean and I have some photography corner which I doubt it will ever be clean. I can take hot photos of game unboxing for you to put into database?

I would have to email it to Twistedsymphony anyway so it's better when you email him :)

Thanks for the photos Letrico! We're they packaged well for shipment? The box that yours came in seems to be in really good shape! Also is the packaging sealed in any way? Last question, do they feel pretty sturdy (other than the eye lid)?

It is packed like their standard packaging style with a box for perfect fit. I'm surprise mine came nearly perfect as my other stuff was always have a dent at a corner.
The box is shrink wrapped but not perfect wrap with holes for easy removal.
The figure itself is very light but the details is great. Not yet tried the LED eyes but I think that should be alright. Very easily adjustable to poses you want but you can't twist the hand too much. Same as all their product there are only a few articulation points and don't expect it to twist and turn like play arts or revoltech.

Thanks! This will be my first 3A item so I wasn't sure what to expect. Have you ever tried getting a replacement box from them if there was a badly dented corner?
Letrico
01-19-2014, 10:21 PM
Nope. I don't think they send out replacement for dents unless the figure itself is broken.

fingers crossed mate. Most probably will be alright don't worry :). The figure itself will do justice even if there is a small dent

If you are looking to get the 2 in 1 set you won't be able to find it as it was a bambaland store exclusive but I believe you can get the single figures on sideshow or bigbadtoys
http://search.sideshowtoy.com/search?keywords=portal

To be honest if you grab them + delivery it will almost be $550 anyway with currency exchange.

First and last time buying these. Nice looking figures, but seems that I prefer to have statues that don't move. It was a pain to get these posed to stand where I wanted them too. The joints felt really tight and I felt as though I was going to break them when I moved them. Glad to have them in my collection, but really won't be buying any more of these figures. IMO
