For preordering the game here in Spain you get the steelbook..

The most probably is that all EU will get it, from Game exclusive...

Don't if there will be two sizes, just in case, I preordered ps3 and xbox...will cancel xbox one if it only comes G1 sized....

The Tales of Xillia Teepo Metalpak is g2. Pretty sure the thief one is a metalpak/case since most of the shops do not declare it as steelbook.

I preferred all the G1 steels last gen because I did my multiplats on the 360, so it worked out just fine. Next gen is all G2, though--excluding the Wii U for myriad reasons--so I really cannot wait for games to ONLY come to 8th gen consoles, so we can ONLY get G2 steels. It will just make more sense.

Amazon UK usually puts a block on new game releases for shipping to the US. Eventually the block will get lifted. You just have to keep checking on it.

What you could do is have it shipped to someone in the UK and have them foward it to you.

the only thing would be double shipping cost and also twice of the amount of probable damage to the steelbook :X

It would also be even more because Amazon is one of the only UK retailers that takes the VAT charge off when shipping items to the US. So I would be paying the full price--VAT included--the initial shipping, the secondary shipping, and all the extra risk. I'm definitely just waiting for it to be able to be sent here lol.

Note on the cardboard wrap cover how it says "Bonus Metal Case" and not Steelbook. Do steelbooks have that extra flat bit on the spine which covers up the rather ugly hingeing (like in the AC games steelbooks)? I can find no G1 nor G2 etched anywhere into the steel. Is "steelbook" a copyrighted term for the ones I mention?

Steelbook is not only copyrighted but also a different design; it's like you described, just with more differing minutiae. G1 is DVD sized case, G2 is Blu-ray sized case. You're new here, aren't you? Lol :P

thank you for your sage advice. And no I've actually been here a while, and helped and offered users here get New Zealand editions of games they are seeking(at no profit to myself). I'm not all that fussed collecting steelbooks in comparison to other CE's. Sure they come as part of many CEs but Can you possibly tell me what this metal case is classed as then as it is quite fat. Proc I would just call that a tin. Like your thief game the case the game sits in is what is classified as a steelbook or metalpak. That tin holds the game and cards. And if im correct steelbook would be imprinted on the lower left corner on the inside of the right part of the case. I could be wrong so someone please correct me if thats the case

About last week, I purchased two copies of Thief target exclusive steelbooks (PS4 and a Xbox1) from the target website. They finally arrived, and what do I see when I open the package? Two regular versions of Thief! :rant: I was soo freaking mad.... I called customer service to figure out what happend and if there was something they could do regarding the mess up. After a lengthy 30 minute phone call, they told me they didn't know why I received two regular copies of the game instead of the target exclusive steelbook version and that my only options where....
1. Keep the copies and receive 20 dollar gift card as a "we're sorry we fucked up."
or
2. Return the copies and wait for a refund but because I purchased them via paypal the refund would be sent to paypal and then I would have to transfer the funds into my bank account... so I wouldn't see that money for at least 2-3 weeks.

So, I went to a target store and explained my story to the costumer service/ returns clerk and she had to call their costumer service to find out if they could do a swap or not. After waiting for 10 minutes, they told her that it wasn't possible to swap it out as it has a different SKU or Item number AND THAT THE TARGET EXCLUSIVE WAS ONLY AVAILABLE AT THE TARGET STORE ONLY so what they ended up doing was a return via gift card and with that gift card I made the purchase of the steelbook exclusive.. The only problem was that that target only carried the XB1 version and where sold out of the PS4 copies... So I had to drive across town to another target to go through the same stupid crap and explain myself again to get my PS4 steelbook... Great times :/


Well, any of you that purchased the steelbook through the website be prepared to receive a regular copy of the game and not the target exclusive version..

I have the UK metalpak on its way--the one that came with the game and an actual slipcase for the specific system. And that one 'looks' like it's G2. I'll confirm/deny when it arrives.

Also, Viking, the Target steel is the same as the Futureshop steel. So it's G1 only.

I only tend to buy games from their clearance or when you can combine about 50 discounts and walk away with $1 dollar games :spiteful:

Although I did recently pick up PVZ :Garden Warfare because it's $30, and I got a $10 dollar giftcard after buying cheetos (which I was anyway)

For all their exclusives, I'm going to either wait for them to go down in price or buy it from FS, I learned my lesson from the TR Steelbook.

Also, most targets around me still have Thief Steelbooks left and some FF LR steels left as well.

I'm not a fan of all these Target exclusive steelbooks - the 5% off with red card is nice and all, but I just don't like buying games at target. Your story has helped me decide that I will not buy games from their site either ;)

The 5% off plus $5 dollar gift card they give to basically every single pre-order ever helps to off-set taxes and such, like amazon :D

Really Target this and Target that is beginning to draw the ire of a marked headshot on their exclusive beautiful people editions targeted arses :snipe: . It sounds like it's all hype when all the difference is some extra printing on a metal case different from everypne elses metal cases beautifully peopled and printed(but oh the humanity not in Targeted hororgraphic copyrighted Steelbooked heaven). Perhaps if the dev had transfered some of this marketing effort to making the ps4 version of the game resemble much more than the ps3 shell that it is then getting these versions might be warranted (and even a getting a proper CE version to boot(funny how it has no CE in this day and age of multiple editions for multiple markets, you'd think it being a new IP to many people would warrant it deserving the CE love)). The game actually has potential, or it would if I didn't feel like I'm playing a very polished Dishonoured shill. There seem to be many similarities here...

We're actually launching a test experience for our video games category within a week...were hoping its a hell of a lot better than what we have now(at least I do...)

If our new pages pass user testing, target.com should be a lot better.

To anyone wanting an appropriately sized metalpak, just make sure you buy the one that includes the game and has a console specific slip case on it, not the generic holographic slip.
