Update:
Bethesda has officially announced the Imperial Edition for The Elder Scrolls Online. The Imperial Edition will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in extremely limited quantity? through participating retailers for $99.99 (?99.99 EUR/?89.99 GBP/$ 139.95 AUD). The Elder Scrolls Online releases on PC/Mac worldwide on Friday, April 4th and on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June. Read the press release here (http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1485918-pre-ordercenew-video-learn-more/).

Original Story:
Bethesda has yet to officially announce a collector's edition for?The Elder Scrolls Online but a user on the Amazon video games forum spotted a very peculiar image attached to the Dishonored GOTY store listing. The image shows a collector's edition called?Imperial Edition for the?highly anticipated MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online. This was obviously a mistake and the photos have now been taken down but the image appears real enough.

The image features the following content for the Imperial Edition of The Elder Scrolls Online:

Physical Content

Collector's Edition Box

Steelbook Packaging

Molag Bal Statue - A collectible 12" statue featuring Molag Bal, Daedric Prince of domination and enslavement

Map of Tamriel - A printed map detailing alliance-controlled zones and the ultimate conquest: Cyrodiil

Emperor's Guide to Tamriel - A 224-page illustrated guide annotated by the Imperial scholar, Flaccus Terentius

Digital Content

Play as an Imperial for any alliance - Appears to be the only way to play as an imperial

White Imperial Horse

Mudcrab vanity Pet

Rings of Mara

when it ships

also how i see price breakdown

game 20gbp (as it is a sub game)

1 month access and digi items 15 gbp

artbook 15gbp looks high end stuff

statue 25 gbp

steelbook 10 gbp

map 5 gbp

so 90 gbp seems fair

I'm happy with the price especially after the skyrim ce. There are much more editions out there for 100 euro who not offer half as much.

Also I don't understand why everyone is complaining about the monthly fee. I can't remember people moaning about WoW.

CE is good priced but the subscription model for MMO's has been on the decline for 5 years or so. It doesn't make sense in this day and age.

WOW is going to go FTP at some point. It's subs are slipping like mad the last 2 or 3 years. And this ain't going to be WOW

My opinion of course

I agree. WOW is a great game and the subscription model worked great for it. Not so much for any other MMO though. Off the top of my head both star wars galaxies and SWTOR either shut down or went FTP from a subscription model. It's an old system that people don't care for anymore

They are still charging for FF XI and XIV, don't they?

Played FF XIV when it came out for pc and it was awful, more like a beta and not even worth the money for the game itself.

I'll be happy to pay a fee for ESO if it means stable servers, a smoothly gameplay and especially a full game, not some FTP crap where you have to spend 5 bucks every time you want to talk to a npc in order to move on with the game. But this is just my opinion.

lol I actually consider the subscription model to result in a better game almost always. My point was simply that the industry as a whole is clearly moving away from the subscription model and with how ESO is likely to perform financially [considering its astronomically high cost (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=743992)] we're unlikely to see any further large scale MMO's by big publishers like with EA's SWTOR and Bethesda's ESO. ESO has been in development for years, before WOW started its decline

This is a really dumb question but it's been ages since I've used Game and the site has changed a lot since then, do they still wait until release before they charge you?

Just on their checkout for example it says "Pay Now" at the final ordering stage.

I like the CE but I am going to have to wait on this... simply because the subscription fee is just stupid.

Also I guarantee it will only take roughly a year (if longer not much longer) for it to be forced to go free to play. So within a couple years, and by then there will be tons of fixes and more end game content.

I really do like the price for this CE, but only if it wasn't subscription based. I just don't have the time to play games too often, and so I refuse to pay for something I won't play but occasionally.

My final decision is still on the fence right now about this...

Also wish the statue was something cooler, like a hero character. Not a big fan of creepy looking statues cluttering my shelves too often haha :)

Playing the BETA right now... feels empty. It is like a very low budget Skyrim. Voice acting is about on par though.

Sadly feels too much like an MMORPG now... probably gets better in the end game but I have never had enough patience with MMOs to get to the end game stuff where everyone says all MMOss get fun. Th only MMO feeling game I ever like was Kingdoms of Amalur but I suspect because it was still only a single player RPG rather then an MMO. Plus the physical world was more realized then then ESO.

Pretty sure the game will go F2P or Buy 2 Pay soon enough.

I am not sure, but it looks like they take Skyrim engine and modify it for mmo, but its 3y old game and mmo novadays are lightyears away :/ and i am not sure, if this game can live only from Skyrim fans... Succesfull mmo needs around 500k + players for flawless running, age of conan have i think about 100k? and slowly dying, APB die at 25k, so i dont think there is 500k PAYING Skyrim fans.

I doubt it is the Skyrim engine. I am no developer but I would suspect they built and entirely new engine for this since it is a completely different style game (MMORPG as opposed to SPRPG).

There will be an initial surge of players at first... but if it does not get better then what I saw after a few hours of playing then it will bleed players rapidly.

I can't help but feel that all the negativity surrounding ESO on this board is a bit misplaced.

From the point of view of someone who has thoroughly enjoyed the TES series since Morrowind, I can honestly say that ESO has met my expectations and I'm really having a great time with it!

There's differences yes but I think people are jumping on the bandwagon after one or two hours of playing a beta or even watching some videos on youtube. Plus, based on the way that the devs over at Zenimax Online Studios have been responding to the fanbase during this late stage of development, they really do want to put out the game that people want. There's been so many changes and enhancements over the course of the last 3 betas that anyone who has got a predetermined opinion on the game based off what they saw months ago should really consider holding their judgement until they've experienced it.

Will it go F2P? There's always that possibility because I don't think the MMO market is as lucrative as it used to be so only time will tell. But for the moment, I think they're on the right path with it. The PvE is great, the PvP is great, it looks fantastic and it plays extremeley smoothly.

Will it go F2P? There's always that possibility because I don't think the MMO market is as lucrative as it used to be so only time will tell. But for the moment, I think they're on the right path with it. The PvE is great, the PvP is great, it looks fantastic and it plays extremeley smoothly.

You may be right for some people. But I can say everything I have said about the game is true... at least for me and others.

There will be a lot who like it and a lot who do not. But I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it is not worth $60 + $15 a month to play, again for me. And I think it is not for the "average" TES fan also.

We will have to wait and reserve final judgement on the overall game when it is released... but I will not be jumping on board. I am very interested to see how low or high the review scores are.

Yeah, you're right in saying that it's not for everyone but then again, there is no game that is for everyone. The price tag is normal. Even if you play this game for 1 month (first month is inclusive of the retai price), you're still paying the same amount you would for any AAA title and if you're even somewhat interested in the ES series then you're likely to get your moneys worth.

There's not many massive releases that will hold attention for more than 1 month. Granted there's the FPS crowd that play for thousands of hours but that's a different beast all together.

I'll admit that I've been taken by the game for a while and that I'm probably biased towards it. That said, I'm also interested to see how the reviews go. I've got a feeling that they're going to be slow burning because of the negative press it's had previously but it has been impressing more and more people as time goes by and I think the vast majority of people are starting to see its potential now that there's been a bit more openess around it. But like you said, it's not for everyone and that's totally fine!

I agree there is potential... there always was with a IP as engrossing as TES. But I felt it was not capitalized on, really my gripe is it feels a little empty and is too far towards MMOs. I would call it a watered down verison of TES... but that is simply my take on it.

Like I have said it may open up and get way better in the "end game content" that MMO players always talk about. I have never had the patience or the time to ever get into an MMO to get to that content people say is so good at the end.

I have to disagree with you way of thinking of the price... MMOs are literately made to be a very long term time investment and a month should not be enough time to play and get bored of it. Just my understanding of MMOs.

$15 a month to play

Is that correct? 0.0 I've already said to myself that if it is more than 5GBP a month or unless it has a discounted annual sub, I won't be paying after the first month. I'll be playing it on XB1, so let's weigh up.

$15 = ~10GBP
XBL = 5GBP p/m
or
40GBP p/y = 3.30GBP p/m

I pay XBL yearly, so I'll be paying nearly 15GBP a month extra just to play this game after originally paying 90GBP for the CE.

Do I look like a mug!? >.< It needs to be F2P pretty soon to keep me interested.

guys FYI(= For Your Information @ flatout :D) the first Month in an MMO by buying CE or regular version is always for free. One month seems fairly enough to play troh the singleplayer (One of 3 sides).

Then you can decide to play or not. I will still buy it, i will still play it. And if i like it i pay if not ... then who cares :)

Yeah the first month for the first buyer may be free as usual... but if this MMO can be beaten in a month then what is the point of a subscription MMO?

So they should have never even bothered making the game because we can all play and beat it during the first free month and then no one will subscribe?

I suppose if someone had tons of free time they could do just that, but a normal person working a normal job would not have the time... I should rephrase "should not have the time".

I know I could not get to max level in that time personally.... well with most MMOs anyways. This may be shorter then most though.

You make a great point Sylf - with the "free" 1 month play, you'd get to experience much of what the game has to offer I'd imagine, even just playing for ~10hrs or so that month (which is probably a high estimation on my part). Many of the CEs I purchase don't even get THAT much gameplay (or at least haven't yet). If you like the CE I suppose it'll just be one of those that sits on a shelf somewhere. And if they do eventually go F2P then you've already got a nice CE and can jump on board :) I still wish they had a better statue though... :-/

This is exactly my thinking! Yes MMO's are usually a long term investment but if you compare it to the hours within the first month you are playing, to something like the new South Park game, then I really don't see why people are so anti-subscription model. That game is ?40 to buy now and I would love someone to tell me that they've put more than say 20 hours into it (and I believe even that's pushing it).

I know that there are exceptions to this but any game that can keep people occupied for longer than a month is worth paying for. People can throw around examples like Guild Wars 2, Battlefield series or even DayZ but I don't think that those games are backed up by the fact that there is a dedicated software house building on just this one game and they need to be paid if you're going to keep getting quality updates.

If people aren't willing to pay the monthly fee then that's fine and the model is just not for you. That doesn't mean that this is destined to go F2P. I just don't understand the hate on it.

I'd also like to clarify that my statement about the other development studios is based on the fact that NCsoft, Dice and Bohemia are all great and large studios but they work on so many games at once, cutting the post-launch development to a minimum.

Yeah, I'm aware that you get a free month to play, but after that, I highly doubt I'll be paying the fee. Tbh though, I was finished with Skyrim in less than a month, so hopefully will be able to blitz through this quick enough to avoid paying the fee., :P

Well, I've been rather wishy-washy on this whole MMO deal thing, but I think I'll keep my pre-order with Amazon for this CE. If it is as limited run as it seems, it'll be nice to have or to sell for a bit of a profit down the road. If the game crashes horribly, at least it'll be a neat relic with a decent steelbook ;)

I will start off admitting this post is out of frustration.

I got a message saying I was re-invited to the BETA and I had not gotten around to deleting the 30 GB install that i had so I figure what the hell.

At this point you can assume i am not thinking I should have just passed on the invite. The new update made the game (for me laggy when yo try to do something like combat or move fast). This was not even close to an issue before. So a game that was already frustrating and borderline boring to play became just impossible to play.

I am going to avoid this game from now on like the plague. I am certain it will be a little better on console where you can use a controller. Oh yeah... no controller support on PC, I mean really? What year is it? I thought this was Zenimax and not Bioware.

Anyways short part is I quickly closed it and deleted it from my computer. I feel much better now.

In skyrim and Oblivion I always chose Dalk Elf.

Actually in all honestly I found out the stuttering was not due to the game. It was due to windows 8.1. I had to downgrade my OS and l lose everything I had. I backed up most of it but save game files for a couple games I could not find ;(

But eve so the game is still painfully boring for me and I am so glad i deleted it.

BTW... I updated to 8.1 just to play Project Spark, to find that 8.1 and games do not mix at all. Ahhh, the irony.
