UPDATE:

My collection has shrunk a bit recently!
Returned my two Sideshow statues due to paint and cracking issues (Dark Rider of Mordor AND Darth Vader). I am now no longer buying Sideshow at all due to getting three out of three defective statues. The QC is unacceptable given the price paid for the statues.

So NECA is my new favorite manufacturer of figures. They blow away Sideshow when it comes to a much superior combination of quality and size for a realistic price. Just got these two NECA 1/4 scales (18 inch) Batman - Arkham Origins and Joker - Dark Knight figures and am absolutely blown away. I paid about $140 AUD for each which is an absolute bargain imo. Anyway, words don't properly convey how cool these are, so enjoy:

Completely agree. Its one of Sideshow's best. I actually haven't seen anything from them since the Lich King that has the same level of detail. Unfortunately I believe their business model has changed to quantity over quality (more product lines, less focus on individual statues). They have their hits and misses, this was definitely a hit!

Also, the guy who designed Arthas, also designed Grommash, I think that's why the design elements are similar (the ice spike on Arthas facing in the same direction to the horn on Mannaroth's head).

Cheers! These are the statues that convinced me to move from 1/4 scale to 1/3 scale. The attention to detail and design of these is amazing. Keep an eye on Prime 1 Studios, they are setting the benchmark for all other companies to follow.

This is the first time I've ever spent this much money on collectibles and I don't regret it at all. The statues are worth every cent. The amount of detail and the perfection of the paint applications is beyond anything any other company has ever delivered. Prime 1 have set the benchmark higher than any company currently in existence.

Hard to believe these are made in some factory in China and churned out on a pretty large scale (over 2000 edition size).

Thanks Drop Bear! The plinths are thin MDF glued together. I bought them from a guy who was selling them as they were used in a jewelry store (he had heaps of them). He told me they were hand-made. They are quite light, but very sturdy (Deathstroke is pretty heavy!).

For anyone wondering. This is Mr Freeze vs Extreme Suit Batman from the Cold, Cold Heart DLC (Arkham Origins).

Mr Freeze weighs about 40kg, and Batman about 30kg. Each is about 1 metre tall.
MASSIVE pieces :)
