A couple are bound to hit eBay... but will go crazy near launch I am sure of it.
I am in awe they did the contests a month before the launch instead of in the same month as launch... doesn't make sense IMO. You want the most hype weeks before launch.

This is obviously what should have been in the Collectors Edition! Probably was something the explored, maybe due to next gen still being in its infancy they decided not enough CEs would sell to make this? So instead we get a crappy hat/jacket/pins.
Can't believe this CE is so bad I need to pass on it.

We all will be i am sure... and that will make the prices even more unbearable. The richest of us will get it so I may bow out now.. lol!
So let me ask you guys....if this statue was available to buy online (not just one in the secondary market like eBay, but a standard exclusive numbered run), what would you think is a fair price? 12" tall, polystone, heavy base, metal chain...
Thanks,

US$200-$225 for a 12inch polystone statue should be reasonable.

Do you know something? I am intrigued by your question.
Probably $225, and it depends on how many would be produced.
US$200-$225 for a 12inch polystone statue should be reasonable.
Yeah... it may cost more depending on the limited nature of it. But usually something like that would be in the $250 range.
Lol! Well, I made the statue, but while my question wasn't really about this statue in particular. I was using it to take a poll of the general collectibles market. We make a lot of items for PR purposes or development team gifts, and if we were ever to consider selling some down the line to collectors, how much do you think they should cost and how large do you think the run should be? Since this is the statue I just finished, I thought I'd use it as an example, but please don't read anything into it

The biggest show exclusive we have to offer comes from recently released inFAMOUS Second Son. Limited to just 77 pieces at PAX East 2014, with only 300 ever made, this will be the first time the inFAMOUS Second Son Collectible Delsin Statue has been available for sale to the public. It’s a work of art and can be yours for $150 dollars. It’ll be out for one day only – Saturday April 12 – so don’t miss out!

I can answer that question. Marketing wanted to make 150 for their contests through different retailers, and I thought it would be cool to make some for collectors (also, no factories will make only 150 of something). The deal was that we couldn't announce them until a week before PAX though. The ones given out for PR are called the "SCEA Edition" and are marked as such, and the Collector's version is numbered 1-300. I wanted to do it as a paint variant, but I was under such a tight deadline, there wasn't time. The reason there are only 77 at PAX East is that booth space is really limited and these things take up a lot of room (1 full pallet is like 7 ft tall). Still not sure how we'll be selling the rest.
Hope that answers your questions,
G

Hope you'll make them available for international customers as well. :)
One more question, what about the Last of Us American Dreams graphic novel you'll have available there? What about the rest 800 copies? Will they be sold anywhere?
Thanx in advance for any response!
Hi TonybSG,
I haven't spoken to the UK office about it, but I can look into it. The issue is that we have no ecommerce set up for real (not digital) goods, so the only way we can sell these at the moment is if we are at a convention and we hire a company to run the credit card transactions for us. Because all the studios got together to create this "community" booth at PAX prime, it was easy for me to jump on that train to sell some of the statues. However, I don't know if this is going to happen at every convention (I really hope it does because that would be a great opportunity for collectors to get this really limited edition stuff).
As far as the graphic novel goes, ND is making that themselves, so I have nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the clear-up Gary! Appreciate that.
Wow a paint variant would have made things very interesting.. Either way, I have to get this one somehow. Things get really tricky when it's not available to the international market but I can see that you are definitely trying to get these out to everyone. One step at a time and keep up the good work!

I see. Still feels deceptive, probably because it was as it seems that was the plan for PAX, but it had good intentions behind it I suppose.
So there are 450 of them officially now (2 separate runs technically). Thanks for telling us, now we know it was not 300 in total but another 300 all together... appreciate that FAD.

Hi Flatout,
I'm sorry you feel that way. To be honest, when Marketing put out that statement, I believe they meant 150 of their statues to giveaway. They knew I would be selling the 300 so obviously collectors would be aware that there were more than 150. There was no nefarious plan to increase their value by incorrectly stating the number made.
We're not currently in the collectibles business and technically, if it hadn't been for me wanting to make some for collectors, the run would have been a lot smaller. I guess it comes down to this, would you rather pay $600 for a secondary market statue, or have me make a small run of things so they are a little less exclusive, but more collectors get to enjoy them and you don't have to blow half your rent check to afford them? Now, it is unfortunate that a few people did spend a lot to buy their SCEA statue off eBay, but I couldn't talk about my version until the Pax Community folks made their announcement. Anyone who did pay a substantial amount for their statue can email me and I'll see if I can work out something with them.
For the record, of the SCEA edition, I made 150 for marketing (the contest ones to be given away), 150 for the SuckerPunch game team, and 100 for internal staff at SCEA. For the Collectibles version, I made 300 and they are numbered.
Hope this clears things up,
Gary

No need for the explanation... I was not upset about it. I was just stating the obvious (or so how I feel). I know there was nothing nefarious about it, but a deception all the same... they just do not think of production numbers like collectors do (that is why). This happens very often in the gaming industry... a good example was David Jaffe promising people he was not working on Twisted Metal and then announced a month later at E3 he was making Twisted Metal.
It is just part of the industry... but production numbers are different and something collectors take very seriously. Again not upset so please do not take it that way... I just call things how I see them. Plus I had not fallen prey to paying a big amount for something that was thought to be limited to only 150.
So there is 700 in total? Is that correct?
I do have to say I disagree with this: "so obviously collectors would be aware that there were more than 150". It is quite obvious that none of us came to that conclusion, or did you mean only SCEA? Or maybe you meant they said it that way internally but that was not put out that way to the public?
I saw you mentioned something about the paint in your earlier post, will the one I got and the one you are about to sell look different?
Thanks,
Ken

Here's the only pic I have on my phone. I can get a better one when I get to work tomorrow.
Ingmar, the problem with that is that these are the company's statues, not mine. I have no way to sell anything directly, nor would the company want me doing that. That is why the community booth at PAX is perfect. Another company will be handling the transactions. The issue is that we are not set up to do fulfillment. The idea is that you buy it and take it, right then and there.
Gary
Hey Flatout,
Understood. Marketing departments aren't as clued into collector culture as I am. What I meant was, they didn't say there were only 150 to trick anyone as they knew I made the additional 300 units for collectors and would be selling them at some point (at the time, I didn't know about the the PAX opportunity, so I still wasn't sure how I was going to sell them). Once they were released, they knew collectors would know there were at least 450 made. So, I think when they said the statue was limited to 150, they meant the SCEA edition that was meant for contests. They just wanted to announce a cool statue, not raise the ire of the hardcore collector. ;-)
G

Anyway, thanks a lot Gary for all the info that you are providing. It's really great for collectors to know what's happening behind the scenes. Okay so I finally got to talk with him after a little phone tag and he is going to try and grab a few.
What is good is he works for a company that has a booth a PAX so he gets in early and will/should have first dibs as long as the people at the inFAMOUS/Sony booth let him grab a few.
I do not know if this will work out but if it does the extras I get will go in the order of people who asked (only fair way really). Also I did tell him I would get him a little bit for his trouble.

I do not know if this will work out but if it does the extras I get will go in the order of people who asked (only fair way really). Also I did tell him I would get him a little bit for his trouble.
I would most def, be interested in one!

Guys please do not get too excited about this... it is a long shot at best.
Even in the best case scenario I could get a few, worst case I can only get one for myself at none at all.
If I feel I can get a few I will contact the first couple people as I will need funds to send to my sister's other brother. I will contact you and send you to my sale thread as to not break forum rules.
Flatout, come see me at the show. I think I can work out a deal that will make some folks happy. Ask for Gary Barth at the booth. If I'm not there, leave your cell number.

That was just him saying to see him to maybe work something out to possibly get a few for people here. Although there may be a money issue unless I can use my card over the phone but that is up to FAD. No way to get the cash to my sister's other brother in time.
"It’ll be out for one day only – Saturday April 12 – so don’t miss out!"
That is what the PSBlog said about PAX East and the statue. I will know in the morning sometime whether things work out.
It has been and still really is a long shot... so please DO NOT get your hopes up. Please assume it ill not work out, that way no one is let down. I am going to try my best though.
Hi gang,
Still working this out. I will say this..if you have friends going to the show that can pick you up a statue, go that route. I was going to limit the number of these statues that people can purchase to two though, to give folks a chance to buy them before the resellers gouge collectors on ebay.
However, I have the rest of the 300 in my possession, and the company that we hired to do the transactions are williing to help me after the show. But as we don't have this set up on a website anywhere, I need to work through the logistics on how to move forward. It probably won't happen until after PAX though. So, what I'm saying is, if your friends or family don't come through and buy you one, there will be another chance.
Thanks for your patience,
Gary

Sony Studios should really consider having its own official online store dedicated to exclusive merchandise and limited, one-off collectibles. Capcom, Bioware, Bethesda, etc. all seem to have found success with this, and Sony has enough beloved franchises under its roof to create some great item diversity. Hopefully, you can point to the popularity and hype surrounding this statue as evidence that the demand is out there.

Perhaps since there is no website set up, we could pay via Paypal? Instant, secure payment and it would have our addresses visible after payment.
And I agree that sony needs an online store. Bethesda, EA, Bungie, Square Enix, Valve and Bioware all have stores with really cool merch. I would absolutely love the chance to buy some last of us, infamous, gow, sly cooper, etc goodies!
Once again thanks for everything!

I went by today to grab my statue and was told they only had 18 or so on hand. One of the other sales guys said it wasn't going to be sold online though, so not sure where the other 100+ are going. Ryan hooked me up with 5/300 so I'm happy :)

It was good to meet those of you who stopped by the booth today. One thing I should mention about the statue...be very careful when handling the light bar. I wasn't a fan of this design because the can lights are really heavy and the bracket that holds them is very thin. I wanted to make these out of cast metal but our Compliance group wouldn't let me because it wouldn't pass the heavy metals CPSIA testing. However, our factory did an amazing job with the EPS foam insert. All the parts are individually wrapped and placed in their little cavity, so nothing will be broken when you open it. Just handle with care when unwrapping and putting that light bar in place.
Just a heads up,
G

Okay, sadly I did gouge myself on Ebay before just now finding this site with all this nice info. It's the SCEA edition I have, just got it yesterday.
Yeah, I spent too much money on it. Guess there's nothing that can be done there.
Second, on the off chance a piece is missing (that tiny pipe) what can I do about it? I unboxed and set him up last night but didn't know it had that piece. The SCEA edition has no card, no image, no instructions so I had no idea to look for it. If it's wrapped in there, yay, if not.... uh, is there help in getting one? Or sadly a replacement?
Delsin is really an awesome figure, the details are gorgeous. Would be sad if he wasn't complete! I'll post again if it's not found.

That's a pity Folkeye, but everyone's been there I guess.
About the missing piece, I hope you are able to find it. Maybe try asking the seller. I have had experiences where the seller swears he sent the whole item but I get missing pieces. No sign of the box being opened by customs as well. Just one of those weird things that happen.
Maybe Fad/Gary has an extra piece to help you with?

Okay, I can un-bunch my panties now. I looked when I got home last night and it had moved itself from it's spot to living under the lose wrapping paper so I didn't even notice it. I can breath easier at least. Just need to rob a bank now for the second half. LOL :)
Either way, happy to find this site. Still have some collector in me.

But I am sure people are just grateful regardless.

I'm not going to complain at all, specially when the statue wasn't even suppose to be for sale outside of Cons :thumb: ;)

Yeah as I said I am sure people are just grateful... I just feel bad for you guys having to wait a month or more after paying just to get it.
But as you kind of pointed out it was nice of them to offer them to the forum members who could not get one at PAX (they were not a PAX exclusive i do not think... or were the labeled as such even though only 77 of them could be there? Would not make sense... so I am not sure this is entirely accurate: "wasn't even suppose to be for sale outside of Cons").

Think of it as a pre order.
And so far it was only sold at pax and given as a promo/prize. So as of now, it technically was only for sale at a con (and here as a special opportunity)

Man, I can't help myself... I am sure as i continue my compulsive need to do (what believe is "correcting"), I just cement myself further as a jerk :D . Oh well, cannot help who I am.
That is great you see it that way, and I could be wrong but it seems to me that the "after E3" message came long after people had already payed and were waiting for shipment. This is simply and observation, not an accusation.
There were not promo's or prizes of any kind. These are the collectors editions ones that are number out of 300. FAD wanted to create more for the fans and collectors like us, that was awesome of him to do so because a lot of us wanted one The ones you are thinking of are the Sony (I forget the actual name of them) employee/promotion ones that have 400 or so but are not numbered (and 150 were given as prizes rest were given to Sony and Sucker Punch employees).
But yes so far it was only available at PAX East and the awesome opportunity through the forum thanks to FAD and TreeHouse. The rest were going to be sold, FAD just did not know how they would sell them (they did not make 300 number statues only to have 233 of them sit somewhere forever).'
Again I was just saying I felt bad for the wait is all, nothing against anyone... just expressing my feelings for those who are waiting. But I am glad you did not want yours for a awhile, that way it does not bother you in the least. :taunt:

The opportunity is definitely worth the wait. Have had to wait years just for the opportunity for some stuff. If you can't be a patient collector you're probably going to be a unhappy collector.
Now hurry up and ship our statues! Lol

Very true. Although most collectors are patient only because they are forced to be...
I have no dog in the fight so to speak... was just putting my love out there for those waiting is all (of coarse my need for absolute truth lead it to new directions).

Haha no problem at all, you don't sound like a jerk, but are assuming a lot (or so it seems) or events that yet to happen.
I personally am not OCD like some people to see the different "editions" as different versions. In the end they all looks alike [to me] basically.
And yes, he did mention they were going to sell off the rest, not knowing where. For all we know, everyone will have a fair shot at owning soon. Or it could end up being sold at conventions/events only therefore making FAD's sale here even more special.
Once again, I know they are (not/)numbered differently, but in the end it is the same statue. If there were differences (in the construction/detail of the statue itself rather than the numbering on the bottom) I missed, then I would probably consider them 2 different items.
Once again, not taking any offense or anything in your responses bud.
Just seemed kind of weird that the first person to say something about the wait was someone who did not order one :lmao:
If I didn't know any better, I would say you were trying to start something ;)
I kid, I do not mean the last line in any rude way. I believe I know what you originally meant, just seemed a bit off. Sorry if it comes off aggressive/wrong.

I see them as different editions from how FAD described them. Again, it is awesome that he let forum members get fist dibs on the ones that did not go to PAX.
Not weird at all... I think it makes perfect sense. Really because first of all I was only speaking to those waiting and not those who helped the forum members get them.
If I wanted to start something I would have, and it would not be subtle. When I make observations i tend to add facts and I am not polite about them (I do not sugar coat them... but no the other hand I do not try to make the facts sound worse either). I think people tend to want to see confrontation or bad things in peoples comments, I believe confrontation online is something people try to start without even knowing they are doing it (just watch a comment section on IGN, or YouTube... if there are 100 ways a comment could be taken as good and only one way it could be seen as bad they will almost always take it the bad way just to feel offended... people unconsciously love to get offended, they love confrontation). Actually the only reason it got any further then my first reply is the replies made me feel like I had to defend my observation and fix things I thought were incorrect in responses. Just a HUGE flaw I have now-a-days, well I am not sure it is a flaw but to others it certainly must seem like one as people do not like facts when they are facts that can upset them or others.
But I say it again, I feel for you guys who are waiting and were not aware they would be waiting that long until their transaction was already placed (that is not be calling anyone out or show a mistake... it is just an observational fact). If that makes me an ass or makes it seem I am trying to start something then so be it. I will not change my nature to suit others ;) I know that is not what you are saying, I just want to put that out there. Political correctness has its place for things that are hate related (like gender and race type things) but not for truth.
See, I probably have replied all this time because I feed off of discussions (you could say confrontation)... I love back and forths for the most part. Love articulating my ideas. I probably shouldn't though as a lot of the time I am misunderstood.

looks longingly at allocated empty space on shelf :-/
Hey Gang, I'm back!!
Sorry to go so long without responding but E3 was crazy! Not only did I have to make the Galahad and weapons displays for us, but i made them for Europe and Japan too, so I was working on those in the evenings during E3. When I got back, I had been gone for 9 days (and 5 days before that for Wonderfest), so it took me the week to get a handle on things.
So, where are your statues? First off, I appreciate your patience. As a collector, I know how hard it is to wait for your purchases (I just got my Hot Toys "The Crow" which showed up long after all my friends got theirs...so I "get it"). What you have to realize is that I am a one man department and my part time admin assistant and I are deali g with this personally. Ryan and Treehouse were nice enough to run your credit cards, but in order to keep the shipping costs low, I am shipping your statues straight from our offices in San Mateo using our Sony FedEx account...and the shipping price can't be beat.
We had to order special boxes (our mail room couldn't understand why they couldn't slap a label on the factory shipping carton. I had to explain to them that that some collectors value ALL the packaging) which came in on Friday. On Monday morning, my assistant and I will be packing these up ourselves and sending them off.
I hope you enjoy them!

Good stuff! You just get more impressive with every post!
Off topic but what do you think about the crow figure? Was actually contemplating that one. I'm just having a hard time not getting a pile of premium format statues. Especially the Court of the dead. Really excited about this line. My Jack the ripper recently showed up and the wait for the Queen is killing me. So many of the hot toys are so tempting though. Too many..
I'll have to answer that question tomorrow unfortunately. I had a couple pretty big "fires to put out" on Friday, and by the time I go home, I realized I'd left the damn thing at work! ;-)
Overall, I love Hot Toys. I only have 5 of them though. Most of them are awesome (i wish they would re-issue the Aliens line with better sculpts) but I went a little crazy with the McFarland "Movie Maniac" series a decade ago, and it got to the point that my office wall at Sony was covered with them, top to bottom, side to side. I decided to stop trying to be a completist and really collect the stuff that "spoke to me". ;-)

Hopefully they re-deliver next week if that's the case lol

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, but I consider myself more of a project manager and fabricator than an artist. There were six other vendors that brought Galahad to life. I oversaw the project, hired the right folks for the various parts and stepped in and made some of the parts that we didn't have budget for, like the custom buttons, and the communicators. That's all I'll take credit for. ;-)
Here's a pic of the communicators though. Waterjet cut steel, and other custom 3D printed and lasercut parts. I made the vacuum tubes out of plastic test tubes.

That is too bad... sadly they probably took a cheaper and less detailed route.
BTW... someone let me do an unboxing of their inFAMOUS SS statue:

I'm guessing there is no official way to get this statue anymore?
Would love to have this in my InFamous collection.

The leader of the team that makes the statue had a small "group buy" for this statue here.
Email me at gary_barth@playstation.sony.com and I'll see what we can do. I don't have any way to take credit cards for Sony, but our friends t Thinkgeek Solutions (formerly Treehouse) might be able to help. They handled the sale at PAX East last year.

You're most welcome. Get 'em quick though. We only made 300, and we sold a bunch at PAX and PSX. The cool thing (or messed up thing depending on how you look at it) is that the original warehouse messed up the sequential order of the master cartons while they had them, so random numbers were sent to the shows. That means there's probably some lower numbers still to be had. Just sayin'...

Any chance of international buyers getting this, apart from getting someone to forward this? Have a friend here who wants it but missed the chance the last time round.

Sorry, I really wish I could, but the statues are now an official par of the Gear store. Now that Treehouse is owned by Thinkgeek, they can no longer run the credit cards for me. my hands are tied.
