Charity auctions are usually not a great place to find deals. Still going to try for one.

Not looking for a deal in this kind of event.

This is absolutely gorgeous but paying over 3k is a bit too much for me.

Especially for a 10x16 digital painting, but it's for charity :thumb:

I had my eye on several pieces since the gallery went live. Something shady is going on.
It's too easy to place a bid, just with a name and email. No registration required. Every time I bid just now before closing, I would get an error "something is wrong". Right now, officially 5 minutes after bidding closed, the amounts are still increasing.
Edit: and now at 2:06am their whole site is down.

I tried to bid a few pieces too. But the last few minutes there were too much traffic to their site and I believe it crash. Needless to say I dont think I won. I really hope my bid was submitted but chances are low.
Their bidding system is lacking.. I bet many people have missed out too.

This is fun. I bid on several pieces, every single bid results in an error, every time. And bidding was still 'open' after the cutoff time up until 11:06pm, it still allowed you to 'bid' even when it said so closed... I know because I kept trying since my bids error'ed out before the cutoff.
So I wake up to an email this morning "congratulations FFX auction winner!" I won one of the pieces I was after, and I'm pretty sure it was one i kept trying to bid on after the cutoff too.

Oh yes! I won even though my ONLY bid was in Error?!

Exactly my point.
Oh and get this... In the email they state I can refuse/decline my winning bid and they would go on to the next bidder. So someone could have just easily put high bids on everything and then declined the winning bid after the fact if the price was too high.

what did you buy?

Dan, I got this one due to my limited budget
http://www.gallerynucleus.com/detail/16953 but still a lovely piece.
I agree with Romeo, the bidding system is flawed.. No registration required, which will tie to the bidder to a verified paypal account or credit card.

So let me see if I understand this;
I, bidderA, want to buy a piece of art.
I enter my bid of $200.
I can just ask my friend, bidderB, to bid right after me some extreme high amount (like 2500) and technically end all bidding there unless someone else had deep pockets.
When bidderB "wins" the bidding, he can just decline and said piece of art will not be passed down to me to agree or decline?

That's exactly what I was thinking too. Bid system must be based on obligation.

Why I never thought of this exploitation to get other pieces that I want? o.o lol
Thanks Jorge. Will take pic when I get it in my hands :D

Yeah I completely agree. It would of been tempting to cheat the system and try to win the pieces of art we really wanted cheap but I would of felt bad because it is for charity after all.

I spoke to a rep of Gallery Nucleus today at length about this. They agreed with me and stated they greatly appreciate my feedback. They generally sell only, this is their first time doing an auction and on their own website. This was insisted upon by Square-Enix to do it this way. For the future they're going to look into eBay for the auction listings. That's how auction 4 a cause did the Assassin's Creed 3 paintings, through an eBay main page.

Good for you on the feedback. Hopefully it works better for them that way in the future.

Sorry it took me a while to get these pictures out of my phone. And my photography skill is just terrible.. so pardon me if these pictures offended u in anyway lol.
I believe I took all the pictures seen in the event. So here goes.. :whew:

I won the Bahamut concept art. It was way more expensive than I wanted to spend and truth be told, I am not convinced I bidded within the time limit but they seemed to accept it. Plus I had mega issues with the auction as the timer ended at 11pm GMT, said auction closed for 30mins and then corrected (because I am from the UK). I was quite furious at them because I thought I had won another piece for 30mins. Apparently they are sending me a promo poster as an apology. They dispatched it today so I'll get photos up when it arrives.
Despite the price, I'm a huge FF fan so just owning a piece from this auction is awesome.

Haha, it'll be so sick if that was a freebie!
I wonder what that pink thing, is it a sales receipt?
PS. I love the cartoons they've stuck on the box hahaha!

Definitely not a freebie though the promo poster they gave away was, they saved one for me. The pink note was just a post it with my name on it saving a copy of the CE for me since Square took back anything unsold at the end of the gallery event. And yeah, the cartoons are neat!
