Zelda Musou (Hyrule Warriors) is getting Two Special Editions in Japan

Zelda Musou information has been revealed in Famitsu, the game will release on?August 14 in Japan and is also getting two Special Editions: Premium Box and Treasure Box, both are released exclusively in Japan.

The Premium Box will retail for 11,664 JPY ($117 USD) and the Treasure Box will retail for 14,904 JPY ($149 JPY). The Treasure box is exclusive to Amazon.co.jp and GAMECITY.

The chances are indeed extremely small, but since this isn't just a Dynasty Warriors game anything could happen, don't forget most of the huge Zelda fans are western.

That's the release date silly :P

The Kanji character after the 8 can be translated into "Month" and the one after the 14 to "Day". The rest of the characters means something like "to be released in Summer".

i say NOT at all 'rare" they have been available for pre order for about a month now,..all japan export retailers still have pre orders available, and being this style of fighting game is very popular in Japan, they will capitalize and make plenty of these editions.

I was hoping for something more antique looking, possibly something I could expect to see in side links house in one of the games. just because it's called a Triforce clock doesn't mean the thing has to be shaped like a Triforce, they could have done something analog and used the tri force as a theme.

I wasn't planning on getting this edition at first, and I still won't if the US gets a CE, but in the likely event that we don't, I wouldn't mind having a preorder for the Japanese Treasure Box version.

tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if they ship the items alongside the game. It's a very common thing in Japan, just have a look at the Famitsu DX Editions, the items always come separately.

Not really sure as the translation seems quite off, but via their Official Twitter yesterday, it looks like THIS may be the artbook (or the guidebook?). Translated appears as "Is a sample image of the official Book". Seems like they're also talking about the box as well, but didn't see any other pictures.

Yeah, sounds like it - but they didn't announce that MK8 one until quite awhile after the UK one was announced either, and only did it a few weeks before release IIRC. I'd be tempted simply because of its rarity at that point though.

From all I've read the DW games don't sell very well at all over here in the US and so maybe that had something to do with it? But yeah - if they WERE going to announce a CE, ideally it would've been done in the same spot on the Nintendo Direct.

I think in addition to that, the sad announcement of US having "retailer exclusive costumes" is a punch in the gut too :(

Nah, you can do the same with amazon as well (using gift cards), but Nippon-Yasan also doesn't take payment until you actually "give it to them".

the small one looks like it would fit the clock :) Also it make sense to give the clock extra protection :thumb:

I just bought a premium box version as well from buygame2 and they assured me they will send me a nice minty box..i even got an e-mail from the "manager"..and it arrived today with a nice lil' ding crushed corner..so now it's eating me alive..and I can't deal with it due to OCD..and I just wrote a e-mail response back to them ripping them a new hole..how can I ever learn that in life nothing is perfect?..but as a sealed collector..i almost feel like I can only accept 'museum quality" pieces..now I am really bummed out about that 'ding' on the box...LOL..how do I come to grips with it?..WHATS WRONG WITH ME!!!???..;)

the black and white outerbox is NOT sealed. the scarf is in a "plastic baggy" ..the clock and chest are in individual boxes...the premium edition, is FULL color and is cellophane wrapped...

^This. :D I paid for Eco - SAL Registered shipping so I got mine a few days later than the rest of you but I only spent 1,690 JPY. :P Only other difference is mine has a crushed corner. :( It bothers me cuz I requested a mint copy, and with the fantastic packaging job they did I really don't think the damage occurred during transit, I think it happened pre-transit. But I'm going to get over it because the black and white box isn't very interesting anyway, and the dent is on the reverse side...

So Twisted are you gonna take any pics of the Premium Edition?

Got my Hyrule Warriors CE today! ^^ Im happy with it. Can't complain for £15 to upgrade from standard game. Was nice to get something over here even if I did already get the scarf with the Treasure Box Ed. lol Am enjoying what little I have played of the game. :D played the first 2 "Legend Mode" Levels and 1 on adventure mode. Have never really been a big fan of hack and slash so Im hoping I will be able to get on with this game and thoroughly enjoy it. Will see if it starts to wear thin after I have a chance to play It more. Lol

Well Nintendo did pretty much exactly the same kind of release for Mario Kart 8, but other than that I don't know about other event exclusive CE's either. Do you collect any Nintendo stuff amb, or any particular franchise? I bet if this kind of release fell under the scope of the kind of thing you "must have" for your collection, you'd be annoyed about it too.

Your sentiment about "slapping limited on the box, charging double the price, and producing and endless amount" is valid and it's one that's commonly held for sure, it's just not one I really ever have to deal with when it comes to my Zelda collection.

With this edition it's not like they did something great just because, unlike a lot of "limited editions" today, it actually is limited. It's a lame CE. It's a game and a scarf. It's the leftovers of the European CE in a slightly different box, which itself was a dumbed down version of the Japanese CE's. It sucks. But it's going to be expensive as hell anyway because of how rare it is, and personally, I think that just makes it even more lame. I'm going for a complete collection of Zelda games, so I "have to" get it, but it doesn't make me happy that I'm going to "have to" spend hundreds of dollars on something this lame. If it was a ball of boogers and some used toilet paper instead of a scarf it would still be rare as fuck and highly sought after. Where do you draw the line? /rant

by the way, i just read the number "500" posted for the US Zelda Hyrule warriors limited edition..my guess is they probably did a run of a 1000..the rest probably gets distributed internally at Nintendo US HQ and i'm sure the Nintendo World employees had opportunities as well to acquire these for themselves.

Iwatasan you had me freaking out for a sec when I scrolled down, I thought this was the "last CE I bought" and I saw the signed SP and started to cry haha! I ask them at the NWS every time If I can buy the one they've got in the "museum" on the 2nd floor... I think I'm slowly wearing away their resolve!

Also, regarding the HW CE, I do not know where "500" came from (except one article which was quoting a random person in the line who said it was about that number of people walking out with one), but I was told specifically by the NWS manager that there were 300 of these being sold. So definitely not 1,000 - but perhaps they could've held some back for employees. My thoughts on this were that if so, THAT number is at most 50 since another employee had used the # "350" in a conversation with another line-goer. But still, that's speculation whereas the manager when I asked her directly said "300". :shrug:

Just wanted to share some excitement about at least a little good Nintendo news (for once), the new DLC for Hyrule Warriors will let us play as Twili Midna -- that's pretty awesome!!! Also excited to see who the 2 new playable characters are in the 3rd DLC.

I must say that overall I've been pleased with the DLC offerings here by Nintendo on this -- still waiting for the promise they made during their press release regarding the retailer-exclusive DLC, but hopefully that'll be soon!
