i hope they do some top notch packaging with this..the controller color and logo design is a missed opportunity..they could of "jazzed" it up some bit.,.maybe a nicer color and a more elaborate deco on the controller..i just hope it's not like the Nintendo store US xenoblade pack combo, which was just the standard game taped alongside a standard wii pro controller.

Seems like a useful bundle but is this a CE or is it just GameStop selling three separate products at a discount when you buy them at the same time?

I feel like it's just 3 separate things at a discount...

I imagine they'll probably do something similar to the Halo:ODST Bundle edition, but that's just my guess.

Nintendo did announce a "bundle" version..so probably like how the Nintendo land game got thrown into a box with a luigi green wii mote, or how Mario and sonic got thrown into a box with a blue wii motion remote etc..so probably something along those lines will be made available.

Yeah, its since been announced at Amazon, Gamestop, and BestBuy I believe too.
Also, here's another similar announcement, but not sure if it warrants its own thread or not, so I'll drop it here and let the mods judge.

Looks like Europe may be getting a double-pack of Super Smash Bros. 3DS. No price point yet, but I'd imagine it'd have to be cheaper than buying 2 copies. Not really a "collectors edition" but its a different edition nonetheless.

amiibos available for pre-order today as well from all the retailers you mentioned. $12.99 each and there's 12 of them (so far). Theoretically I think at least there must eventually be one for every character in SSB4. So good luck to those of you wanting to collect them all... :nosleep:
Imagine if they started bundling those. :haha:

Speaking of Smash Bros Bundles, Nintendo UK Store have a T-Shirt and Sweat Band offer with pre-orders of Smash Bros standalone game and Console bundles. :D I think the T-Shirt is the same as the one that was given away at a recent Expo. Either E3 or PAX?

I tweeted to NOA today after they announced the 12 amiibos being 12.99 each and I asked if there's any sort of "bundle discount" or B2G1 deal going on cuz $155.88 + tax is a bit much methinks. ;)

Yeah, they are a little expensive. They're only the same price as the Skylanders figures though.
I will only be getting a few of them anyway. lol Link, Samus, Pikachu, Fox and Marth. :thumb:

Not really something for my collection but I think I might actually wear a shirt like that, haha. Maybe even the sweatband. :haha: So far I'm only expecting the SSB coin for my US pre-orders. Oh, and add to that the Club Nintendo soundtrack for registering both versions. :cpatch:

Let us know if they actually reply! :D Seriously though I agree, these amiibos are too much for me. That's $155.88 for now (assuming you buy just one copy!) plus there's going to be at least another two or three dozen eventually.
I'll stick to the Zelda characters and maybe get a couple more depending on how fun/useful they actually are as an SSB4/MK8 add-on. I've got Link preordered already...can't be too careful I guess with hot toys being released at Christmas. lol

Just a heads up, Club Nintendo currently has an offer where if you purchase both versions of SSB and register them you get a free physical copy of the soundtrack. Not sure if this is US only.
http://club2.nintendo.com/smash-promo/
After checking out the contributing composers/musicians on the soundtrack I think I'm more hyped for the soundtrack than the actual game. :D

I know this is the Smash Bros thread, but since we have already touched on this topic herealready, I would like to continue it here...
Amiibos...ARGH!!! >.< Why do publishers keep fucking us Euro gamers over on prices!? Nintendo needs to explain themselves!!! £10.99 per figure in the UK!? Wasn't going to get started on on the console bundle but since I am ragging on game prices here again, I might as well have a shot at that too. Why is the SSB Console Bundle only $199 in the US according to a recent Walmart ad posted in the SSB Console thread!? We're being charged £209.99 for that bundle in the UK!! How the fuck is that justified!? If importing consoles wasn't so difficult, I would just import them as I didn't intend to use them anyway, but that's besides the point... -_- I'm starting to reaslly hate this trend. It's getting more and more common now. >.<

Not to get too political but I think it has to do with taxes vs. government benefits. We pay more for things like medical bills and education, you pay more for things like plastic toys.

i just don't like the idea that almost each and everytime they do something special, they have to use the default red and blue colored consoles..these should have been a different shade of red and blue to differentiate from the standard red and blue consoles we see every day...instead it looks like they took the standard editions, and a plastered a "copied" page in black and white of the boxart..I know, there's been Zelda, and Yoshi etc..but we've already seen this done with the Pokémon editions, ...and now the same old boring standard colors make a return.

we will need the help of a Canadian forwarder as futureshop delivers Canada ONLY...sometimes, (and i'm keeping my fingers crossed)..they allow you to order steelbook only for around $10 and as many as you want (until on-line quantities) are depleted, otherwise there "in-store' pre order bonuses, but you would be forced to buy the game as well..it can go either or both ways.

For SSB4WiiU I have 2 copies of the standard edition paid for already at Best Buy to get those Smash-Fest coins, so I have to keep those preorders I guess. But once I have the coins in hand I want to return the standard editions and get 2 copies of the bundle edition instead. Will Best Buy refund me or just give me store credit? To be safe I was thinking I would preorder the bundle edition at Best Buy, rather than GameStop or Amazon, so that if I can only get store credit I can apply it to my preorders for the bundle edition. But I'm still anxiously waiting for Best Buy to update their stock photo of the bundle.
Also guys if you didn't see it yet, Europe has announced two of their own bundles (http://mynintendonews.com/2014/10/07/nintendo-europe-announces-super-smash-bros-amiibo-and-gamecube-adapter-bundles/). One with just the adapter (no GameCube controller included), and one with the Mario amiibo.

regarding gameplay - I'm rather peeved that they put "Dark Pit" as another character. I mean, he's an exact clone of Pit, just... "dark". Why couldn't that have been an outfit change? So far that's my biggest gripe about it -- wasted a perfectly good slot on a color pallet swap.
Besides that, I'm enjoying the game -- forgot how much I like Smash since its been forever since I've played the Wii one ;) I hope they do something really special with the Wii-U version to make it different from the 3DS version (even though they already said they were not going to change the roster).
Now that they've already launched the 3DS version, they could totally add new secret unlockable characters in the Wii-U version and say that they were referring to the "starting roster" if people complain - I'd be alright with that ;)

these amibo's are scaring me...i feel compelled to collect them all, because of the colorful box art work, plus them all of course being awesome Nintendo characters..but i think they'd keep releasing soooo many, that there's just no way to have a "complete" collection unless your super wealthy, not only that, but i see this going the route of "exclusives" maybe like "recolors" as well, such as only at Comic Con, or only at E3 or only in some foreign market or only at Nintendo World NYC...this is a trend Nintendo has been on as of late with promos and it's really terrifying to think...like these amibo's so far "i want them all"...every single one of them..but where's the room for these?

we might actually also need a separate dedicated ambiibo thread...also another thing, what if they start doing a bundle exclusive?..like 10 characters that are also individually available, but 2 in the box that are exclusive as part of limtied edition set, but the price is like $200?...or do a wii u system bundle, where there's 2 amiibos that can only be found in the wii u system bundle for $300 etc...this thing can get out of hand.

Might as well just make it for all these collectable game toys like skylanders, disney infinity, that pokemon game with some, Amibos, there is also a Japanese Kamen Rider game that going to add collectable toys to it.

these amibo's are scaring me...i feel compelled to collect them all, because of the colorful box art work, plus them all of course being awesome Nintendo characters..but i think they'd keep releasing soooo many, that there's just no way to have a "complete" collection unless your super wealthy...but where's the room for these?
Yeah screw that. A complete collection of these would be impressive but that's like the only thing you would be able to collect. So for me that's just not gonna happen.
Hey Twisted did you see somewhere Japan's bundle definitely includes the controller? Everything I've seen so far says Europe, AUS/NZ, and Japan just get the adapter in their bundles.
Wish Nintendo had made these controllers wireless, but I guess then they couldn't hawk an overpriced adapter at us. :banghead:

They tweeted earlier today that you'll be able to use the adapter with Wavebirds! Wohoo! Glad I kept 3 of 'em! (Now if I can just find the other 2 I had around the house)

Nice, I still have my two Wavebirds too. Now I can blame controller lag :quote: when I lose online. :haha:
I'm sure Smash purists are happy about the controller as is. I just think this generation of console will look pretty lame with wires coming out the front of it. Not to mention the wireless functionality components of modern controllers have probably reduced enough in size (and lag) in the past 12 years that they could have fit them in the standard GCN controller shell without increasing its size as they had to do for the Wavebird.

I'm really hoping that they don't do "exclusive/limited" edition versions of these amiibos as that'd be annoying, but if they didn't, they'd be the only ones (which isn't unlike Nintendo).

Also, regarding the complaint about "too many to collect" or "too expensive" -- I think that's going a bit overboard. They're ~$12 each (less w/GCU) and will undoubtedly end up being trade-able at GS and the such and I'm sure you'll be able to purchase them pre-owned and all that like the other figures. There's not going to be any shortage of these. Collecting them doesn't require you to sell everything you've got, even if you only bought 2/month you're only out $25/month. That's not really breaking the bank for any dedicated collector on a budget here... Also, while they DO have quite a few characters (even just in a Smash roster setting), too many too quick will kill the passion for these en masse - it really will. 1/2 the "joy" of collecting those DI or Skylander figures is that the collectors get that brief momentary sense of joy that they've got the whole collection. If they release 50+ of these in the first year they're going to lose a lot of people who will just throw up their hands and say "forget this, I'm out". So hopefully Nintendo will have a staggered release schedule on these things to keep the collectors (and our wallets) happy. :thumb:

Sense when iv never seen them take in the toys before. I know at one time they tried but they go stuck with so much used crap from skylanders 1 that they were getting it in faster then the demand. Also people seem to want them use for stickers and other crap you wouldnt get with the toys used. Iv seen gone into gamestop before and seen them refuse to take in the stuff saying it just does not sell here and when the fad wears off they will just be stuck with a bunch of unsellable crap. It kind of like with the hole guitar hero fad after it died some stores just ended up throwing the plastic crap away because no one wanted it after a while. Also back on the skylanders note iv never even seen a used toy for sail at gamestop even.

Got my Zelda amiibo preordered at Best Buy now that they've added the new amiibos to their site! :D I've also e-mailed customer support to confirm the bundle they're offering is indeed the special edition bundle and not just the game, controller, and adapter sold together at a discount as their stock image would seem to imply. Of course it's most likely the special edition bundle but I have to be sure. It's interesting to me that at the time of this writing it can only be preordered through Best Buy; Amazon and GameStop list the (special edition) bundle, but it's apparently not available for preorder yet.
Also regarding my question about handling the preorder exchange I uncovered some advice from the Best Buy support forum (http://www.forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Gaming-Support/Super-Smash-Bros-Wii-U-Bundle-Pre-order-and-Smash-Fest/m-p/832987):
Not really sure where to post this but back in June when Best Buy held the Smash Fest in select stores, I went to one of these store (SATX one) and preordered the Wii U version of the game but at the time, they only had the vanilla copy and did not have the Gamecube Controller/Adapter bundle yet. My question would be, is there anyway to get the Coin and the $5 certificate if I moved the preorder from the vanilla copy to the bundled copy if I keep the cancelled pre order receipt along with the newer bundled receipt?
You can go a few different ways with this. When you ask about moving your current pre-order from vanilla to the bundle, please know that we don’t have the ability to adjust your current pre-order. The current pre-order would need to be cancelled and a new pre-order placed. The store’s willingness to still provide one of the coins would be completely at their discretion. The best suggestion I can offer would be to keep your current pre-order in place and inquire about exchanging it for the Gamecube Controller bundle when the game is released. This way, you’ll obtain the pre-order bonuses you originally should have and you still may be able to leave the store with the version of the game that you want!
Hope that can help someone else. :D
Edit: Back in stock at GameStop as of Oct 9.

I am a little scared when it comes to the SUPER SMASH BROS WII U bundle..as i was late in preordering it..GAMESTOP stores told me they STOPPED taking pre orders for it last week and AMAZON stopped as well..although Gamestop said you can still do on-line orders for now..BEST BUY still allow "pre orders" in store..but in the past, BEST BUY has proven to be no amazon for me, and unreliable when it came to preorders..twice they let me down, even with preorders and deposits in place..so i just hope i can get my hands on it and i hope it does'nt turn out like the ZELDA SKYWARD SWORD US GOLD CONTROLLER BUNDLE, which was next to impossible to get in my area if you did not have a preorder.

Huh. Well it's to be expected. I wouldn't suggest basing your decision not to collect them on the fact that the prototypes were downgraded for mass production, I'd suggest basing that decision on whether or not you think the mass produced models are decent enough notwithstanding a comparison to the prototypes. The cost of producing a prototype version is likely quite a lot higher, even if you don't factor in the design cost. Nintendo wants to sell these at a $12.99 price point and still make a nice profit, then of course they have to give their design to Chinese manufacturers and say "here, make this as cheaply as you possibly can."
A comparison to mass produced Disney Infinity or Skylanders toys would definitely be more apt to base that decision on, but I don't have any experience with those.
Personally I'm basing my decision not to collect these (beyond Zelda characters of course) on the fact that there will just be way way too many of them. :beee:
Maybe Nintendo could make a Collector's line of higher quality prototype-style versions and sell them for twice the price or whatever it would take to make that profitable. But if they didn't anticipate a big enough market for that then they would never invest in the startup costs for it.
Sure there will be a group of us saying to Nintendo "come on, make these higher quality." But I'm afraid there will always be a much larger group of people who say "we want this cheaper."

id say "because nintendo" but we all know why nintendo does what it does. they have been cutting costs ever since the wii u was failing in sales. We even went from a regular 3ds CE with the physical game, manual, case and everything else, to a code stuck in the box, to oh your 3ds has the game installed. this amiibo downgrade is not a shocker. We all love nintendo but they are slime balls anymore. with all the cut costs you'd think we could get a decent online infrastructure where i can fucking play smash bros without ERROR ERROR ERROR, ERROR CODE 3234234-34342, You have been disconnected from the game. In this particular case (assuming you're talking about what Twisted posted about), I'd say it has more to do with retailers offering less and less shelf space to Nintendo. Since Nintendo's already committed to making an assload of these amiibos by committing to NFC support for a game like Smash Bros. with a million and a half playable characters, they need to reconcile that with retail shelf space that is becoming more scarce.
Cutting costs and limited retail space have to be what is driving them to heavily promote eShop sales as of late, for consoles without much internal storage space mind you.
If I were Nintendo I would have already started heavily investing in an online store for the US and Canadian market. Like a cross between Nintendo World Store and Nintendo UK's online store. Because this (https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/) is bullshit.

I have a gut feeling that a proper smash bros bundle won't come out until holiday 2015...I think for now, Nintendo wants to recoup as much as possible from selling the game for full retail,..the bundles tend to discount the game aspect of it,..the game itself is probably the "system seller" for this holiday..next holiday I think they will push the bundle package.

This looks to be the case. Knight, give your Best Buy a call to make sure they did in fact receive a copy for you and that they have it safely reserved for you (they'll hold it 7 days). Otherwise, Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M35YLLY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) still has some (order limit of 2)...for the moment.
Lesson learned: If preordering limited editions from Best Buy, do so online, not in-store. The downside of preordering online is you have to pay in full up front. But the downside of predordering in-store is they don't actually honor your preorder if they don't receive enough copies. Thanks to an awesome manager I just barely got my two in-store preorders fulfilled. :thumb::notworthy:
Although it doesn't say "limited edition" or "collector's edition" anywhere on it, I have a strong feeling that there will not be more than one run of these bundles here in the US. It's totally sold out at all GameStops and Best Buys everywhere around me. Everyone I talked to today said they don't expect to get any more.

Oh awesome. :D My Best Buy had the names on the reserved copies too, and the manager said they hadn't sold any copies to anyone without a preorder, it was just that they had been shorted on the supply side. And I can't speak for other Best Buys, but this one was shorted by exactly the number of orders that had been placed in-store (like mine were). There had been 16 preorders placed---6 in-store and 10 online for in-store pickup---and they only got in 10 copies.
Took me at least 35 minutes too but it was far from a simple transaction, that's for sure. So, what happened, did they end up charging you for the standard edition instead of the Bundle?

it has a ding or two on the box..and that just eats me up alive,..so i rather not keep it..i don't want to keep returning things to the store..in order to avoid getting "blacklisted"..i've seen that happen before, if you make a habit out of it..and i've done my fair share of returns, if i'm not happy with how it turned up..so i figure i could maybe try to sell it here first..otherwise..i will just do the return.but i bet,..it would only INCREASE in value.lol.but i can't afford to hold on to it, with all the other stuff on the horizon.
Yeah I hear ya. Condition is super important for sealed copies. And yeah, no doubt the value is going to go straight up at least until Christmas.

Yeah, many selling already on eBay for ~$150+. This thing won't hold its value THAT long I imagine though since all the individual components can be bought seprately (unlike, say the Zelda:SS Bundle like this).
I pre-ordered mine in store for a $5 deposit awhile back - had no issues, they had it in the back for me. So not likely that it was a online vs. in-store pre-order fiasco as some has claimed.
And yeah, already got my CD order in! ;)

I ended up not buying the bundle because GameStop was sold out, but I had store credit. Still got all the parts of the bundle, though. About to go pick up the game, adapter, and two controllers!

There is no reason it should hold much value than any other particular Nintendo 1st party title. I'm amazed how many people are willing to spend that much on it when there has been absolutely no mentioning of the word "Limited" from any Official source. As a matter of Fact best buy, Amazon, & Gamestop have all listed it out of stock and then obtained more stock several times since its announcement months ago. Every product contained in the bundle is still in stock and as anyone who has been around Nintendo isn't one to make anything very limited, but hell if people want to drop all the extra cash just to see they could have saved $50 bucks in a couple weeks thats their prerogative. It's just sad this aggressive reseller attitude makes it very frustrating for individuals who don't view games as trading cards and enjoy them for what they are making it harder and more expensive to obtain.

You make some valid points there, but it is VERY unlikely that these will still be available anytime after Christmas. Also, even if they are, there is almost NO chance that they will ever decrease in retail value - Nintendo (primarily "first party") games almost are never on sale and even then are only a small percentage off. The MSRP typically does not decrease until the end of the platform's life or the beginning of the next.
I only paid around $60 for mine (the boxed bundle) which I felt was a fantastic price for a launch-day title of this caliber, and why I gladly ponied up the cash (or store credit @ BB).
But regarding the contents, yes - there is nothing special about the $100 bundle except for the box and that it's basically $10 off MSRP for all the items separately.
They have not advertised it as "limited" or "collectors" at all, so Nintendo could surprise us all and re-release the box set, but I believe that would be an absolute first (IIRC) for any bundle ever released by the company (though I'm willing to admit that they MAY have done it once or twice before, just can't recall it in my ~18yrs of being a fan).

You mean as I claimed? :P Or is that the word around the net too?
Believe me, I played hard ball with the manager for a long time in order to get my two copies, and got a lot of specific info about this particular store's order. They had 16 preorders: 6 in-store (including my 2) and 10 online for in-store pickup. They only got in 10 copies for their online orders and didn't sell any to people who hadn't pre-ordered. Three online customers had picked up their orders already so they had 7 left in stock by the time I got there, but initially what they told me is "we don't have any." ;) At least one other in-store customer had come in earlier for their order and been forced to accept the 3 items separately for $99.99 instead of the LE Bundle. I was calm and courteous but firm about needing the LE version once I'd actually seen them with my own eyes and knew they had some in stock. So the manager actually phoned some of the online customers to see if they'd accept the 3 items separately for the $99.99 price, and lucky for me 2 of them did so I got mine. Super cool of her to do that for me. :thumb: Also, no stores in their Region had any leftover stock to share, and their warehouse was out as well with no option to re-order.
TL;DR: For my store at least I can guarantee this was the case, so if you see corroborating comments around the net, I would be inclined to believe them. You just have good karma Knight. :D

Welcome. It does suck paying scalpers, especially when you do so knowing that their profit margin will be a lot higher than Nintendo's for example. No worries about being able to affordably obtain this particular Bundle's contents though, so that's a positive.

Still trying to figure this one out. Should I chalk that up to good karma as well? :haha:

No previous bundles for the Smash franchise and of course my only other main expertise is Zelda. The Four Swords Adventures bundle (came with a GBA-GCN cable) might not have been a single-production-run release? 2004 was a little before I really started collecting Zelda though, I picked that one up later on. ;)
If NoA does indeed decide to produce more SSB Bundles it would be the first intelligent marketing/distribution move I'll have seen them make in a while.

Heres the first hint from Amazon that more are on the way!
"In stock on November 27, 2014.

As for being around past the new year we will have to See, Nintendo needs Wii-U sales in North America desperately right now and they just might milk it for all it's worth, I think they will keep producing while its Selling but with caution. No Nintendo 1st party titles typically do not lose much value, nor would I expect this title to be anything different, I just don't see paying more than a $100 being all that wise, though some simply aren't very patient.

Does it still say that somewhere? Screenshot or link? I just checked here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M35YLLY/) and didn't see that anywhere, but maybe the page is different for me since I bought a couple already?
What I see is "24 new from $174.93" :haha:
