Not sure if you guys know, but August 14th, the first appearance of Superman (Action Comics No.1) went for auction on eBay. The auction will run until August 24th.
There are 50-maybe 100 known AC1s out there. This one right here is supposedly one of the finest graded to ever go on sale, beating out the one bought by Nicholas Cage awhile back. It started off at $0.01 with NO RESERVE, and it's already jumped SIGNIFICANTLY! Anywho, enough rambling...
The link to the auction is HERE (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Action-Comics-1-June-1938-Supermans-Debut-CGC-9-0-Perfect-White-Pages-/311050328393?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item486c0b5949)...
We're talking the grail of all items damn near!

I wish! If I had $10Million in my bank acct, I'd drop up to $2.5 for this (Max) easily...
I started with comics/sport cards before anything in a sense, so this is an amazing auction for me. Damn rich people...lol

So how does the value and rating thing work? And can the packaging be opened or is it sealed for ever.

I'm assuming it's like Videogame Authority (http://www.vggrader.com). The comic portion probably grades on page coloring/fading, creases, tears, stains, etc. A perfect score is 10.0, so this is damn near close to perfect. Especially seeing how old it is. Once graded I want to say it's locked in the case forever, unless you physically break it open. Otherwise the grade itself could be compromised...it would have been funny if it were sold for 1 cent.LOL..no reserve bid
Would have been crazy..The seller knew what he was doing though, because they made the auction known like a month in advance...

So has digital affected the value of physical over the years, what I mean is say you had No1 of Spawn 10 years from now would it be worth anything and not all books are in The USA so will they hold any value.
