Naughty Dog just announced their limited edition artbook. Limited to 2000 copies.

"The Art of Naughty Dog Limited Edition includes a clamshell case with die-cut, red foil paw design, a black, faux leather version of the art book with red cloth bookmark, and two, gate-fold folios featuring four lithographs of our art and two lithographs of fan art."

The price is $99.

100 of them will be available at the celebration event on Sep. The rest will be available later, they mentioned they've teamed up with Treehouse Brand Store and will announce more interesting news.

The prints will feature artwork by both Naughty Dog artists and independent artists featured at the event.

The top piece was done by ND concept artist Alexandria Neonakis while the bottom piece was done by boring regular artist Anthony Wu (http://anthonygoes.tumblr.com/).

Yes, all of the prints will be available online on their website the day of the exhibit. There's also a ND anniversary print that will only be available to the first 200 people in line at the event.

There hasn't been any announcement regarding prices yet. I'll just throw my wallet at them.

Ha ha. Thanks! I'll pass the compliment along to Chantel, also. Both conpanies are gearing up for holidays, so nobody is making any sweeping changes on either side (yet?). Should be only good news and improvements in the long run.

No date yet (and, like, really no date--not just a date I'm not allowed to share). I did hear they wanted to announce the date in the next week or two, though, so hopefully soon. Most of these artist work in digital, which is expected in this day and age. As you can see by what's selling people prefer actual painted/sketched pieces.

In all seriousness the framed pieces are usually a higher quality compared to the prints. In regards to "One Last Time" it's even larger. Whether or not that warrants shelling out all that cash is entirely up to you..

No worries on the photos. I think they're uploaded here somewhere, just have to find the links and I'm on mobile for the day.

I don't expect the discounts to work on the art. When I bought pieces from the FFX gallery from Nucleus in March they told me discounts weren't applicable to one of a kind pieces.

I've also thought about buying an art piece, specifically: http://www.gallerynucleus.com/detail/17855 - but I read alot yesterday about the printing method which is "Giclee", and while some says it is far better than regular prints, some says it is nothing more than an "overpriced poster". (kinda like when you're paying more for "lingerie" rather than "underwear").

I've also thought about buying an art piece, specifically: http://www.gallerynucleus.com/detail/17855 - but I read alot yesterday about the printing method which is "Giclee", and while some says it is far better than regular prints, some says it is nothing more than an "overpriced poster". (kinda like when you're paying more for "lingerie" rather than "underwear").

The types of ink, type, and thickness of the paper all represent the quality of the piece. Just like the types of paint and medium vary in a painting.

Now for my own personal opinion on the Naughty Dog pieces, I have no interest in buying a one off giclee that is framed because there is simply no guarantee the piece couldn't be easily re-printed in the same form in the future. That is unless of course Gallery Nucleus has a CoA stating otherwise. With paintings and drawings you know you are getting the only one with no concern of reproduction.

If anyone has ever bought outside of US, I would love to know if they had to pay customs charges. I've seen auctions (not from Nucleus) where it was included in the price, so the package went right through customs.

Yea, if the thing was handpainted and there was only one, it'd be a different story (and probably a different price aswell). What would be interesting to know is how many prints exactly they made, since its ..."uniqueness" would vary if there was only 10 as opposed to 10.000. I dont think they'll re-print them later, that would really upset the buyers of the first batch, which should also be the only.

But yea, digital art really isnt compareable to the real deal I guess, even if its been "hand drawn" on a drawing tablet.

As far as I know, only the gallery and office ND store will be carrying this. As Ryan said before, treehouse and Nucleus will get half of the limited editions. Only 2000 available so it won't come to other retailers.

We have half, but Nucleus only has a few hundred, I think.

Also, if they can ship to Europe/Australia, it might be worth your while to get from them instead of us. Another couple hundred were supposed to go overseas, but I don't know the plan for dispersing them from there (press, giveaways, or etc), and we can't ship anything from our store overseas....

The way I read the CoA for my FFX piece is "one of a kind" and "no additional prints are authorized" which I take it as meaning no one can reprint it, ever.

At this point, the only suggestion I could make is to give them a call to confirm. I don't know if that's what pushed mine ahead or what or it could simply be the fact that all I ordered were the books. There is a possibility of a few prints being re-printed at a later date. There is only one original piece that has a small chance of being a re-print if interest is high enough.

I was informed the piece I purchased, which is an original drawing, has no chance of being reproduced.

Now something that did quite surprise me was the LE art book. Many people are quick to say "$x amount is way too much to pay for an art book" especially when the standard edition is 1/4th the price. After having it in my hands it's definitely worth the cost of admission.
