take this with a grain of salt, but i was just informed it is UNCONFIRMED and this steelbook might NOT happen and be CANCELLED!!! by futureshop, as they are sending store memos stating "unconfirmed" steelbook .since pre-order demand for the game is quite strong as it is,..no need to offer incentives?..thats gonna suck big time, if they cancel this run.

If that's what they're going to do to us for Wii-U we really only have 3 options:

#1) Stop collecting G2 steelbooks and be happy with the G1's we've got
#2) Continue to collect and be furious that we now have some G1s and some G2s for the same platform! (OCD'ers freakout warning)

or.... the best, and perhaps ONLY OCD-friendly option:

#3) We convert all our G1 Wii-U steelbooks to G2...

so what if futureshop goes back to G1 for Wii U..after they realized their "mistake"..so then we have this 1 oddball looking G2 steelbook in a collection of G1's for Nintendo..i think they will get a lot of flak about this..so they will go back to G1 for Nintendo?

If the game itself comes in a G1 plastic case as im sure it will - the manual ect wouldnt fit in a G2 steel, this is just stuid.

i think the person who puts in the orders for steelbooks is some random moron marketing department person who is NOT a gamer and has no clue...steelbook probably said for north america we have transitioned over to G2 and its less expensive to do G2 and we could make arrangements for G1 (as shown in sample pic) but it would cost more and the futureshop rep probably went "G1? G2? huh? what?".."just need that metalcast thingy for the promo" and that's that...if this was'nt "code 2" (NOT NINTENDO LICENSED, BUT NINTENDO APPROVED VIA FUTURESHOP"..it would have most definitely been G1 if it was "code 1".."NINTENDO LICENSED, NINTENDO APPROVED"

the North American plant will only produce G2 now...G1 is available on international markets Europe as source..i doubt Canada Futureshop will place orders from overseas..just adds costs for shipping and forex..when there is a "domestic" plant for them to access from...so I figure they'd just keep the Nintendo ones to a minimum and just do more XBOX1/PS4 lines.

Are plastic DVD/game cases to follow suit?

i think most DVD's are pressed in China and Asia for all of North America..so they will stay as is..i'm referring to when a single "North American" retailer is trying to order a niche product to be used as a promo bonus for a limited period of time...in that case, orders will be manufactured domestically..since these aren't made in hundreds of thousands..just a few thousand first print run type of things.

We will know soon enough how futurehop are looking to proceed. Far cry ac unity steels are just around the corner so if those are also G2 I'd be really suprised if that wasn't the end of futureshop G1 steels.
