Hi guys :wave:

I'm back, once again :notworthy: Just can't stay away from this bloody place :haha:

Been a long ass time, but due to various circumstances, my return (which I announced roughly a year ago) was put on an indefinite hiatus, once again.

Long story short, in the past 12 months I have gone from being unemployed, getting my first job, losing my grandfather, losing my job, my landlord selling my house (thus leaving me homeless), to finding out I was pregnant, giving birth exactly six weeks later, and getting a new house :swoon:

But now that we're in the new house and getting it all set up, I'm back! We've got plenty of space in this house, so in one of our walk-in cupboards, we're going to make a reviewing cubby hole, to take pics of our editions, etc. So I'm gonna take progress pics of the collection as we move it all into the house/into our shelves again :) So this thread will fill up as the days/weeks go on :)

For those of you who don't know me (unlike you old-timers who've been here for yeaaars :haha: ) I'm Vee, 22 years old (23 next month) and I'm from Glasgow, Scotland. Live with my boyfriend (Allan) and our two kids (Allan/AJ and Eva) :)

Congrats Vhal on the little one as well! That must've been quite the surprise to give birth in just 6 weeks after finding out! I hope all went (and is) well with that and your family!

Nope :haha: Allan thought my belly had gotten kinda hard, but I'd lost 2.5 stone so we didn't know wtf was up (as I didn't look any skinnier) so I took a test on the 20th March and found out, then gave birth on the 1st May :nosleep: crazy stuff. Always thought those "I didn't know I was pregnant" stories were bullshit as well :rotf: x

Thanks Mike :) yeah, was originally only planning to stay away for a short time whilst I sorted out finances (as collecting had fairly taken over my life!) But that ended up being a longer absence than intended :haha: but I'm back now :D

Yeah totally, really looking forward to the cubby hole taking shape (at the moment it's just a walk in cupboard that badly needs a clean!) :) and I'll be posting progress shots as everything starts to piece together. It's a long process though as it's the full house that needs done. Bathroom has been finished so far, and the kids' room is mostly done (well AJ's side is, still need to sort out Eva's side) :)

Looking forward to having my collection all back together again. Moved some boxes in today (at the moment they're all in storage amongst my parent's house and Allan's parent's house :haha:) and had a look through and it was weird! It actually felt quite cool getting to see stuff again after a few months of them being boxed up (and years of being crammed in shelves, not fully being appreciated, before that) - felt kinda like how it feels when you open a new package in the mail :haha: I'm sad! x

Glad to see your back!

I bought a new house myself about a year ago and I was a nervous wreck boxing up my collection. Actually boxing it up wasn't so bad it was fussing at everyone trying to help me move that was bad. I was so worried something would get damaged. Everything survived though. It's a great getting to get it all put back up on the shelves. I'm sure you're excited to. Also congrats on the new family addition!

I know you're working on it but I don't think I've ever got to use this

Collection has yet to begin the moving in process (that starts tomorrow!), but all along the wall on the left hand side will be our shelves. Where the couch is just now will have another two shelves (and the couch will be moved to the foot of the bed). Two shorter sets of shelves will be under the windows, either side of the bed, and then we'll see what else is to be done :) .

TV stand will be replaced at some point with one that fits the rest of the colour scheme :) (oh, and ignore the mattress against the wall, have ended up with a spare so it's just sitting there for now till we get rid of it) x

Haha yeah, I won the battle for bedroom colour :haha: he didn't put up much of a fight tbh as he didn't mind either way :)

There will be more photos today, woop! :) Moving our shelves in today, not sure if all at once or if we'll do them bit by bit.

We have 7 tall, wide shelves, 2 mid-height wide shelves, 3 slightly smaller (and mismatched) wide shelves, and 3 tall skinny shelves. Oh and a big wide pigeonhole style set of shelves too (but those are brown when all the others are black). Oh, and a The Last of Us display standee that looks like a vending machine. Can't hold much but it's huge so basically a shelf too!

2 of the tall, wide ones are in our entrance hallway just now, the other 5 of those ones are in my mother in laws (taking up her entire hall) so I think at the very least we'll get those ones into the room. All of our actual collection is spread out between both of our parents' houses, so we will have to move the actual CEs in bit by bit too :P x

The seven big shelves that we have, have now been brought into the room and put into place, along with 2 of the tall skinny shelves. Still need to slot in the actual shelf parts and then decide what way I'm placing everything into the shelves :)

Also, if anyone remembers my old collection pics, this shows just how much bigger this room is compared to the old room. Old room could only fit 3 shelves on one wall, max, whereas I have 5 of the big shelves, plus two skinny shelves on one wall now, with room to spare :)

It took my eyes a few moments to realize that you didn't have the GoW and Saints Row boxes cut in 1/2 for some reason. I was sitting there scratching my head wondering if the UK somehow had smaller boxes or why in the world you would have cut them in 1/2? :scratch:

... it was a long night!

By the way, looks awesome! Can't wait to see it all filled up! :thumb:

Used to just go for anything and everything, with a preference of Xbox for format. Now we have tried to tone it down a bit as it was kind of controlling our lives :haha: now we just stick to releases that we actually want and are going to play, rather than just going for something because it looks nice/cool.

Preference of format is still Xbox, although completely fine with buying other formats for exclusives (obviously) and if I just see a really good deal on another format for something I want anyway :) x

Just use an Excel spreadsheet I created :) I put way more info into it than what is realistically required, but I like it having tonnes of crap on it :rotf:

There is a databasing software out there for collectors, which allows you to scan barcodes (or something like that) which would be so much simpler, however since the guy that runs it tried to sue me for unknowingly infringing his copyright of the term "collectorz" (rather than just contacting me to let me know so I could change it, I found out by having a letter FedEx'd from his lawyer) - so yeah, I won't be buying the software lol :rotf: and that is also why my site is called "Collecting Asylum" - it used to be "Collectorz Asylum" till all those shenanigans happened :haha: x

Wow! Really!?! That's crazy that he would feel that he has sole rights to "Collectorz", seems like a pretty common enough word, but I guess if he has it copyrighted then he can do that. Yeah, I had looked at that particular one but I didn't care for some of the options (or cost iirc).

I currently use SortIt's "Collection" app. It works really well with only a few minor complaints on my part. You can scan, bulk scan, or manually input your information. You can also import directly into it (possibly from Excel since you can export TO Excel). I had an extra iTunes giftcard on my account so I went with the full pro version after using the trial (I think it was like $6 or something?). I think I started with the "books" demo (and uploaded all my CE guides), and then got the "Video games" module for the $6 iirc.

I really like it, and its great that it has a web interface and mobile interface so I can access or update it anywhere.

The features that I feel it lacks are all mentioned in the FAQs as being available in future releases, and he responds to email pretty quickly too, so I don't have any major complaints. May be worth you looking into it :)

Going to get more pics posted today. Parents delivered 5 massive crates of my stuff this morning, as well as my 3 gears of war retro lancers. Kinda forgot just how much stuff we have. They dropped off one crate and a few boxes yesterday, and we're quickly running out of space so now that 5 more crates have arrived, slightly crapping my pants as to how it's all gonna fit :rotf: x

Yeah, we're a small crowd around here for sure. Though if I win Flatty's raffle I'll undoubtedly have to start collecting all the jRPG CEs for Sony as well, that's just how it has to work. :rotf:

Hehe yeah, I have been thinking about whether or not I would start collecting PlayStation, but only exclusives if I was lucky enough to win that PS4 or not. I'll keep thinking and see, who knows. Just never know your luck :)

There are still boxes everywhere, and quite a lot of things still to be brought over from my parents. And we still haven't gotten rid of that stupid spare mattress so it's constantly in the way at the moment :rotf:

Okay, so I got bored whilst unpacking some more stuff, so decided to just take some quick (sloppy) pics of the collection so far. The shelves may end up being changed around a fair bit by the time I'm done, they might not change much at all - I don't know yet. Safe to say that the movie shelves still need a lot of work (as it's mainly movie CEs I've still to retrieve from my parent's garage).

No progress as of yet on the cubby hole - still in the process of decorating the "main" rooms. Currently the livingroom still hasn't been finished (although it is nearly there), and the kitchen hasn't even been started :rotf: - as soon as those are done, we'll get onto it :D

The cubby hole is (at this moment) storage for all the decorating crap: paint tins, roller trays, ladders, paintbrushes, rollers, etc :haha: x

What is that FableII box? Is that the infamous "CE" that wasn't really released but was sorta kinda released? (I need to get one if so). And also, you've got 2 Halo "books" one the bottom shelf there (next to the Dead Space book), are those art books? I don't own one yet, so just curious :)

Thanks :) Yeah the Fable II box is indeed the unreleased CE which I nicknamed a long time ago on here as the "Lost Contents" :)

Yeah the Halo books are the Limited Edition Art of Building Worlds book. Reason behind having two is that the first copy I bought, once I opened it I discovered it was not only missing the lithograph, but it was missing it's numbered label, and badly damaged in some pages (large deep scratches). Complained about it and they then discovered that a batch had this error so they recalled them from shops. They let me keep it and sent out a proper copy too :) so I've just left that one sealed now x

Sorry for taking so long with further updates. You may have already seen on my site, but if not, the reason is that we've just found out that my gran is dying :( She has been in hospital since May (a week after my little girl was born) as she broke her hip. Well, one thing has led to another and she has infections, etc and she has completely deteriorated to the point that the doctors have said there is nothing further they can do. So it's just a waiting game now, and it's heartbreaking.

I've still been coming on here, and playing games, and trying to update my site (albeit instead I've just been half writing posts and then saving them as drafts), to try and keep my mind off it, but as you'd expect it is hard.

So if I go silent for a bit, don't worry x
