Ghost recon Future Soldier unique and scarce steelbook ?

I was gifted this by a GAME employee of my acquaintance and, as something of a steelbook connoisseur, I was both delighted and mystified to receive such a scarce gift. It's a steelbook for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier which never actually got released in the UK - only as a part of the Australian Collectors Edition.

Now, all my friend can recall is that it was some sort of promo item but, because it is signed by members of the development team, I can only assume that it was intended as a competition prize which has happened with a coupla other steelbooks in the past. Strangely, if you examine the attached picture, you can see that it was actually signed upside down.

I can find absolutely no info about this steelie on the net but i can only assume that there were a very limited number produced (signed that is) and as such it's one of my most prized (no pun intended) steelbooks.

If anybody can shed any more light on this I would be most appreciative but as of now it goes down as one of the more mysterious items in my collection.

Just what I wrote in the first post. My friend can recall very little and only gave it to me because he doesn't like steelbooks.

Yes, that is the one but the aspect that interests me is the fact it has been signed by the dev team. So . . .how many were signed? Was it a competition prize ? Why was it signed upside down ?? Why the Australian version promoed in the UK ?

So many questions.

Definitely a competition prize in other regions. Even India got some, I got one through trading from someone who won it but its not signed

Okay, interesting that the steelbook turns up all over. But i guess the signatures make it something of a scarcity.

I quizzed my GAME buddy a bit more and it turns out that the devs themselves attended this particular promo event at Newcastle in the North East of England and actually brought a bunch of steelbooks with them which they were happy to sign for anybody who got one. My friend had two and kept an unsigned one, very kindly giving me the other so they weren't all signed at least.

Sadly this news means that my steelie isn't perhaps as scarce as i'd hoped but, I'm told, a lot of fans just wanted the regular game signed for the most part. Nevertheless an interesting addition to my PS3 steelbook collection.:bday:
