Condition - Was originally a break on legs that was fixed please read description and see pictures but can not be overly seen unless up close.
Also selling on ebay for a lower starting price so reserve the right to remove this after Wednesday.
This is a fantastic very rare piece i've only ever seen 3 being sold just trying to raise christmas money cash for my daughter is the only reason for sale it will be sadly missed. Open to reasonable offers. If you want more photos please ask and i will try and add more.
This seems a very rare figure i have barely found any photographs or information about it and in my opinion its the nicest of all the Metropolis figures, the plinth has a real art deco look and really sets off the figure. We brought it about 10 years ago from a private seller and it came broken on the legs, we wanted it too much to send it back with no chance at another so simply fixed it. Please note the leg pictures showing the break although quite honestly this is not overly noticeable unless very close up. There is a slight nick in the back of the leg where the pewter is missing but cant be seen overly.
The small bit of research i have found on this is it was made many years ago by Compulsion Gallery and was at that time a piece of genuine licensed merchandise.
Since Compulsion Gallery ceased trading, their models and in particular this huge Maria statue have become real collectors gems.
A beautifully sculpted statue of Maria The Robot standing 16 inches tall. This is an extremely well observed modelling of one of the most instantly recognisable robots in film history, the false Maria Robot from Fritz Lang's fabulous Art Deco masterpiece Metropolis. Their products were made of high density resin thermally plated in Pewter.
This was then hand polished and lacquered to retain the just burnished look. Unlike metal powder filled resin casts which go dull within a couple of days of polishing them, these thermally plated products always remain bright and need no maintenance aside from dusting once in a while. The height is 16 inches and is a beautiful piece for any collection. Only reason we are selling is we want to raise funds to give our daughter a really good christmas.
