Hey there, not the largest steelbook collection by any means. (I've got strict criteria for adding a steelbook) but hope you enjoy the photos :)

Nice collection but I don't like the autographs on the cover of the steelbooks.

For me those autographs disfeature the artcovers of the steelbooks.

Nice collection. Man, I had forgotten how beautiful the FF14 steelbook looks. One of the better looking steelbooks out there imo. I like the autographs on steelbooks :) Makes the steelbook look unique.

Unique? You can't see the beautiful artwork of the steelbook because of those autographs, I would never buy a steelbook which is signed with an autograph, even if Hideo Kojima signed it.

In my opinion those developers aren't famous enough that their autographs are worth to be signed on the steelbook.

I guess we all have our preferences man. I have a few signed steelbooks in my collection, and I just like the fact that they stand out and there's a story behind them.

Also, from a rarity and value standpoint, I think a signed steelbook is worth more than an unsigned version of that same steelbook (especially if a big name developer or voice actor has signed it). I've seen plenty of signed steels on eBay sell for more money compared to their unsigned versions. So, there's definitely a preference and market out there for signed steels from collectors.

At the end of the day, getting signed/unsigned steels is just a matter of the collector's preference. Just like how some collectors only collect sealed steels.

Would you also pay more for a signed car?

Depends if the car is a display item or not. If I'm getting it to drive, then no. But if it's an antique car to showcase, having it signed by the manufacturer would be beneficial. I don't know how things are in Europe, but here in North America, autographs are a big business. Books, games, music CDs, sports equipment and cards, all of these items gain value if they're signed.

Well for me those autographs signed by developers are autographs signed by persons who did their job and created a videogame and aren't famous enough generally that you can see them as famous persons because they aren't famous outside the videogame collector's community and even in the videogame collector's community only a few of them are really known by many videogame collectors.

And usually people collect steelbooks because of the artwork but if the cover of the steelbook is signed you can't see clearly the artwork and I doubt you would pay more for a car just because it was signed by the CEO of the automobile manufacturer.

I like having my games signed. I enjoy meeting the actors or developers of a title and having a small chat with them. It's not about about monetary value or buying someone elses copy of a game that has been signed. Like another user said, I like the little story behind meeting them, shaking their hand and having them sign my game.

Also, it really doesn't matter if they're famous. It's more to do with "You worked for years on this! I love this game, would you sign?" etc

Plus you could always buy the accompanying artbooks if you're a big fan. I know they sometimes do full size prints to hang on the wall.
