24 x 36, that's pretty big! I wish these were 18'' x 24'' and a bit cheaper. They are pretty cool though, I hope HCG will offer more gaming art prints in the future.

I actually bought this and finally received it in the mail yesterday. While I can say it is very nice and very vivid, the one complaint I have is that there is NO BORDER around the print. As someone who frames my artwork, it's going to cause me to cover up part of the artwork (notably, the 35/300 on the bottom corner) and also pay for extra white matting to match all my other framed prints that have a portion of the white visible.

Not a major issue, but every other Bethesda print I have purchased has had a white border, which made this unusual for me.

Exactly the case. They still have Dishonored 2 ones for sale because of it at a sharp discount, and the Prey Point of Origin one only recently sold out after over a year on the site (even after being discounted at 50% for like 6 months)

Of course. But I still can't justify paying over $100+ for a 13 inches x 23 inches printing. As of small limited run, I don't think it's like a statue, were the ES will have a great impact on production costs...Cook and Becker take some artwork that already exists, do some color correction, print it with high quality ink and paper, and that's it. I'd be curious to know how much it cost them to produce those prints.

It might be more than I think after all.

Lithography is bad for small productions because the amount of work involved is a lot and doesnt justify at all to make so small quantities as they make. Anything less than 1000 prints is kind of a waste of time and money.

Also even after printed it takes a lot more work than normal printings, because while other printing processes are ready to be handled/altered pretty fast after printing, a lithograph takes around 5 days before is completely dry and ok to be worked on.

Acid free paper is not cheap either.

There is only a few Shadow of the colossus collectibles out there. I just don't get it, it was an awesome game that many people loved, and now with the remaster I thought they would release some stuff... but not really.

Noticed that the PlayStation, Bioware, and Bethesda stores pulled nearly all their lithographs and art prints. None have been selling out in hours like they used to. I wonder if they'll stop making them?

I noticed that too, and it is very unusual. There are still 2-3 litho I was interested to buy from the Bethesda store and I think I'll contact them about that, just to know what happened with them.

I know I stopped buying a lot of their art because the lot size keeps increasing. It's not rare when you start making 500-1000 copies. Also, the quality keeps getting worse. For Dishonored 1, they had REAL giclees that I bought - super high quality. The lithos... meh. THen they made the new lithos that dont even have white borders, so its harder to frame them.

Basically, IT'S ThinkGeek. But with a different name...so that could be possible. But I don't see it happening. They sell a lot of stuff from those sites (Bethesda store, Playstation Gear store etc.) so why closing?

I think alot of the online stores may be going out of business. The Bethesda store is literally having a firesale right now on almost everything they offer. Square Enix was also having 75%+ off last week.

Artwork in particular form those sites is non-existent now. I'm sure it has to do with the packaging - it's a pain in the ass to package and kills profits.

Looks like no God of War prints. I really think they're not going to make lithographs anymore, for any game. They seem like a headache to ship and I'm sure they got lots that got damaged.

Do we have any members in here that could confirm/deny this suspicion? Art prints are my favorite collectible. :/

Never received a damaged print from those stores but they take so long to pack and ship - weeks.

Also they almost always end-up selling part of the prints for half the price, this is probably not good for them.

The EU Bethesda store took all thier artwork out about 3 weeks ago. They had a good selection of some neat Stone artwork that I was going to order, but it disappeared with all the rest of the art overnight.

Saw candb retweeting some God of War art on twitter. Wouldn't surprise me if they did a collection.

Confirmed: Cook & Becker will release God of War prints.

They have made available three different prints based on the game, two different sizes/prices per print. The smaller size limited to only 100 of each print, the larger size limited to only 25 of each print.

For those looking forward to Valve Software's upcoming game "Artifact" and are into the art prints, at PAX West recently here in Seattle, Valve had a large presence promoting the game. Each day they had two concept art prints signed by the artists that were given out only to those who played the game. The problem is the wait to play the game ran 3-4 hours each day so only a few groups per day were able to play, thus, only those people got the prints.

The show was four days, so there were a total of eight different prints handed out. There are some up on eBay now by people who attended, I will eventually be posting some up there as well.

Can anyone recommend a good portfolio for storing/displaying lithographs/giclees? I was cleaning the other day and realized I have waaaay too many tubes of artwork in the house. I'd like to put them in a good display book, but I haven;t been able to find one that's A) Large enough for a standard video game lithograph, and B) One that's archival grade pages.

BCW and Ultra-Pro both produce sleeves (referred to as "Top Loaders") in various sizes all the way up to 29x43 inches. They do make a 24x36 version as well but make sure the print you have is exactly 24x36 because sometimes a print can be offered as such but can be a tiny bit bigger and thus, would not fit into a sleeve of the same size.

Of the two companies mentioned above I use and prefer Ultra-Pro. These sleeves come 10 per box each individually wrapped. They are not UV-protected, basically they are a PVC plastic, clear, and if you are storing prints in a home where sunlight won't hit them, they should be fine. I use them and the larger 29x43 size to display at conventions I set up at for my business that I am in and they work well.

You also can check out a site called Bags Unlimited and they may have something archival and acid-free that will work better. The Ultra-Pro and BCW ones are a thicker gauge PVC plastic and are clear, again I prefer the Ultra-Pro ones. Bags Unlimited may have something acid-free but may not be sturdy and more flimsy to the touch.

Tubes work for storage but remember cardboard is acidic and I don't recommend long term storage in them unless you change them out to different tubes. It takes a while for the cardboard to break down though. Its kind of like when you have something nice professionally framed, you always want to go with an acid-free backing and acid-free matte board if you were to put a matte around a print. Non-acid free materials when it comes to framing will stain the print yellow over time.

Sounds like you are on top of your game, just always remind the framer when you have something done to NOT dry mount the poster/print. Its a permanent process that will devalue the item. Never assume a framer won't do it, as they will sometimes do it without even asking so always tell them you want it loose between the glass (or plexi-glass) and the backing of the frame.

Yep, my wife used to do custom framing at a shop back in high school so I got quite a bit of firsthand experience on it :)

Thanks for the reminder on the dry-mounting - I actually think a few of my very first prints are done that way. My new ones are not; I had to have the framer correct the frame job on one of my Dishonored ones, and watched them remove the print. Either way it doesn't bother me; I frame them just to keep the prints protected and to display; I will never sell them so not worried about the value. :thumb:

This thread reminded me... I usually replace the glassine annually for the prints that are still stored in the tubes. Should probably go change that now. :O

Getting ready to move in the spring so finally got around to buying one of these profolios for my prints.

Review: I'm actually fairly impressed, the sheets seem to hold in place very well and the cover isnt as flimsy as I expected. The only negative I found was that when the prints aren't flat they tend to slide out the open/loading side of the sheet (the sleeves are definitely 18x24 on the money, no room for play)

Sorry if this has been talked about thoroughly before but does anyone know why Cook & Becker stopped letting buyers choose their edition number?

As a side, I was proud to have chosen #42/50 of C&B's 'Shadows of a Lost Civilization' from Journey because 42 has a lot of association with math and science fiction. I was stoked to have re-sold it, one of the few 4-digit Ebay C&B sales.
