Hi everyone.

First time posting here, though I've actually had some interest in this coin way back in 2011 (http://collectorsedition.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5485).

I won a competition held by Sony New Zealand back in 2009 for the release of Uncharted 2 and the prize was a custom mint of 9 carat gold Uncharted 2 coins.
Link to the original competition page on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/NathanDrakeNZ).

I've held on to these for a long time and am finally looking to let one go. Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Nate

Wow....well the story is legit. I researched it but its hard to verify the coin being authentic.

Seems this would be an easy item to scam. Not accusing you...just saying.

Agree.. Would be interested if it was a way to guarantee this is real, but that is probably hard

Yeah, you're not wrong about it being pretty difficult to prove authenticity, and given the item I understand being cautious.

When I won the competition they gave me the option of either a Sony entertainment system or the coins. I think they thought I would pick the system as it took them a few months to design and mint the coins. They even ended up hand delivering them to me, however they didn't provide any sort of physical documentation.

I will talk to a local jeweler and see if it's possible to have them verified.

I also have photos they provided me while the coins were being minted which are pretty interesting, I'll find those and post them up.

I can also provide screenshots of the emails I received to help verify the coin.

If anyone has any other ideas of things I can do to verify that'd be much appreciated :)

Very cool, I think all those steps would help verify the authenticity.

I saw the contest prize pack. As you mentioned I'm sure most would have loved the Sony setup they were offering, but your choice was the smart one I believe.

Definitely a one of a kind item. So they did mint 2 coins correct? And you were the only "grand prize winner"? Last question, if the set contained 2 coins would you consider selling both?

Thx again!

In total they actually minted four coins. I was the only grand prize winner and received all four coins. At the moment, however, I'm only selling one of them.

I'll get onto finding and uploading those photos tomorrow as well.

This very limited edition coin was one of four given away in a New Zealand contest, held by Sony in October of 2009.

Hi. I’m the seller of this gold coin, just happened across this website while Googling for the original auction as eBay haven’t kept it. Most of the information in the above description is correct, however I’d like to clear up a few things.

The finalist was given the choice between 2 prize packs: $5000 worth of Sony gear and games, or gold coins worth as close as possible to $5000, plus other Sony gear to add up to the total. Under the last paragraph, you have listed that you found that exact image used elsewhere. If you could tell me where, I would love to know so I can see for myself. Basically, I started the eBay account years ago, but this is the first thing I have needed to sell internationally. I can contact any interested buyers by email if need be.

With the note about scams, I have had people attempt to scam me on this exact coin, so I have no wish to inflict that on anyone else. Why would I anyway, I still have 3 other coins.

Wow good find! Also, I'm sorry for the lack of updates this week, have been super busy with work.

I've had a chat to a local jewelers who recommended a place to get the coin authenticated, will try and get there this week.

Re more photos, I'll get those up in the next day or so.
