I was looking for Super Mario Galaxy 2 Limited Tin Edition but couldn't find any so decided to add to the list. I not sure where else this was released except the UK so kept it related to that country. If wrong please feel free to ammed it along with any other mistakes: -

***********************

Full Title: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Limited Tin Edition)
System: Nintendo Wii
Region: PAL
Bar Code: 0 4549690190 5
Release Date: 11/06/2010 (USA format 06/11/2010)
Release Price (RRP/MSRP): £39.99
Content Rating: 3 PEGI
Other info (description/exclusivity/etc.): -

The limited Edition Money Tin was only available as a pre-order bonus from both Game and Gamestation (same company but trading under different names) in the UK.

It comprises of a metal tin with a sliding lid, the lid had a 1 inch cut out to allow coins to pass through. The tin itself contained the normal version of the PAL game, this was the game and a tutorial DVD enclosed in a cardboard case.

The allocated stock ran out before the game was released and thus very few copies were made available on lunch day at most stores nationwide.

The exception being the Game lunch event at Oxford Street in London, where the first 50 people in the queue dressed up as Mario received a very rare and limited goody bag, they also got the opportunity to get a signed copy of the game by the voice of Mario Charles Martinet.

The Bag contained: -
- The Limited Edition Tin and Game – Signed by Charles Martinet.
- A Stuffed toy, either Mario, Luigi, Yoshi or Princess Peach.
- A Mario face mask
- A Sew on SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 badge
- A SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 Key-ring
- A Super Mario Galaxy 2 branded carry paper bag
- A Certificate of being one of the first at the launch

It is important to note that due to poor packaging and those who chose to use the cheap free delivery option. A large proportion of the Tins arrived slightly damaged (dents, chips and scratches) and has become difficult to find one that is in perfect condition.

One of the biggest contributing factors to the sell out was a mis-price on the online store (game.co.uk). Four days prior to the release, Game.co.uk mistakenly lowered the price to £29.99, £10 cheaper than the RRP and at least £5 less than the competition. This led to a huge number of orders for the game by those who were not interested in the limited edition Tin. The mis-price was discovered within 2 hours but by then the stock allocation had reduced dramatically.

Unusually for an online retailer when these mis-prices have been found and fixed, Game decided to honor the price (current price 6 weeks after release is back to the normal £34.99). It is also the reason why collectors are able to find the Tin by itself ( all be it with some damage) on places like eBay for a low price. Because most of the buyers just wanted the game and tried to reduce the cost of the purchase even further by trying to make a quick sale.

On a sour note, because Game.co.uk had dispatched the game 5 days early to the buyers who had pre-ordered the game ,which was to ensure they received it on day of release. This meant they were not eligible for the reduced price and had to pay the normal cost, not really fair especially considering they likely pre-ordered the game several weeks in advance.

It is also worth mentioning that those who pre-ordered the game from HMV in the Europe got a Super Mario Galaxy 2 T-shirt, it was not limited as you can still buy it now 6 weeks after launch.

Please forgive the quaility of the pictures, I don't currently have a tripod or mini photo studio unit. I was forced to use the flash as It was blurry without it.

No problem, Thanks for letting me put it up in the first place.

I wasn't sure what information was required in the descriptions, such as history and trivia.

Have I put too much info on or have I done too little?
Is there anything important I'm missing?

Do people really care about the extra infromation surrounding the launch or is it useless history.

I will be putting some more up soon and need know if I'm dong this right.

Thanks

there's nothing wrong with more info... I like to put up as much info about a release as I can... but I also stick to verified into, as opposed to "I read on a forum..." or "the guy at the store told me..." etc.

Hi Guys

Got some important information regarding this Edition.

I got a factory batch box of 40 for this edition (building stock for a my shop).

The carton is from Game.co.uk as it has the labels from there site on the side including return address. (NB: I did not personally get this from Game.co.uk)

The box had the following written on it: -

----------------
Nintendo

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Tins

Qty per Carton = 40

Carton No 587 of 756

-------------------------

See picture below

That means that there is: 40 x 756 = 30240 units for this release.

However the most important thing I have noticed is that the 40 units inside have a clear sticker seal on the lid preventing it from being opened. My copy from Game.co.uk did not arrive like this.

Did anyone get a sticker seal on theirs, my camera phone doesn't seem to pick it up very well, so don't have a picture yet. Will get one up soon to show what I mean.

! Is your shop brick-and-mortar only, or do you do business online? I would much rather support your business than the profiteer jackasses on eBay.

Well I currently have rented storage but that's about it, my biggest problem is getting funding from either grants or loans from the bank. Really struggling at the momment.

Likely only be selling via the forums and eBay even with there huge fee's although in very small quantities only, until I get some proper funding and buy stock from a distributor. The small amount of items I have are from an ebay seller and I purchased a pallet from him, been going through it and have some interesting items some very good ones and alot of worthless items. Also have some figures and some blu-ray steelbook.

I will be operating as a online store only as I think the cost to buy shop space is high and demand for Collector's edition games is much lower than the normal games. Still as my website building skills are basic only, it will take me a long time to learn how to make it with self help books and google.

But hey you have to start somewhere.

Back on topic - Did anyone recieve a copy of the Super Mario Galaxy Tin edition with the sticker seal.

If these are indeed sold with the seal, I will be annoyed because my copy didn't and I though they all came like that.

It looks like not many collectors got this edition, i have decided to send this to vga to get it graded by a pro. They will tell me this is legit or not. But this is going to be mega expensive because i'm from the UK and have been told I have to pay alot more.

As you may already know, I bought a load of these back in June as a group buy (Helping our worldwide collector's out), and none of the ones I received had the sticker seal on top of the tins. Neither did the replacements I received from GAME

At first I assumed that this was because the tins were initially separate from the game, and someone had to insert the games into the tins, but now i'm not so sure after seeing your evidence above...

This makes me quite angry as I have half a dozen of these stored away, none of which has that sticker seal

I also recieved my copy without the seal, I just got an e-mail back from VGA, they said it will cost $100 grade and ship back.

I think I will send this off in the new year as it takes 40-60 working days to grade anyway.

Will have to send 2-3 to make this cost effective.
