Just like it says in the title, what do you use to protect/store your steelbooks?
I have mine in sleeves and on a shelf but was looking for something that would grant bigger protection, especially against eventual rusting.

So, ladies and gentlemen share your methods :D

Rusting with these is a thing? Didn't know that.
I just use simple sleeves. For my most precious steelbook from final fantasy, I also use 2(!) different transparent slipcases. I don't think it's really any use, but I had a few to spare and thought I give it some overkill. :P

The older ones are, a lot.
The newer ones not so much.

I thought about thus transparent slipcases, but with over 170 steelbooks it would be expensive as hell :(
Also, im curious... what FF steelbook is that?

Nothing really fancy for most collector's really.
FF is just my biggest passion, so it's a matter of sentimental value. :)

It's the chinese Advent Children Steelbook in sealed condition:

Edit: For 170 Steelbooks, slipcases really are expensive. On the other hand, how much did you spent for steelbooks so far? :P
But to avoid rust, you probably need something air sealed or a tiny bag of moisture absorbing sand.

Ok now. Is it a steelbook or a steelcase? G1 or G2? Official or custom?

It's a MetalPak in G2 and it's not a custom. :)

I'm sorry Spect3r!

I just use the generic clear bags that have the adhesive seal. Usually seal them in the basement so there's minimal humidity trapped in there with it.

I'd worry about the silica reacting with the paint. You can't really vacuum seal a bag as it has the possibility of denting in the cover when the air is sucked out.

Fair point!

You can't really vacuum seal a bag as it has the possibility of denting in the cover when the air is sucked out.

I think it would be enough to wrap it in closed foil or simply wrap it in multiple foil-layers. I mean how hardcore can you go with protecting these? :P

Thats a neat trick, sealing them in the basement.

Would it really damage it? A small machine is not a lot of power.
I actually have no idea of the prices but i will check and if they are not expensive i will give it a try with some old G1 steelbook, see what happens.

I use sleeves bought from blu-steels.com. Great protection.

For total overkill you could also buy a camera case, get some slim foam mats and put the steelbooks in there. (of course not before you wrapped each steelbook in a steelbook bag and enclosed it in two layers of slipcases :D )

I use these

A bit pricey, but cheaper if you buy in bulk.

Are they full covered? Seems it doesnt cover the sides? Or if they dont, do they fit on a steelbook with a sleave on it?

They are not that expensive when buying packs of 100, i could actually go for it but not if they dont protect the side or dont fit on a steelbook with sleave.

My main worries were light scratches and corrosion (specially here in mallorca, where humidity is high) so to prevent them i just put the steelbooks in a sealing bag, then seal it with a pulse sealer and finally adding some heat with a heat gun closing it to vacuum.

I spent about 50€ with the tools and 13€ for each bag of 100 sealing plastics. Hope in a few years the steelbooks remain in the same condition :)

Now thats what i am talking about.
I have the same problem as you, i live in a high humidity area.

And [img] only works with .jpg, etc terminations.
You need the image url: https://i.imgur.com/63ieAgG.jpg
Not the page that holds the image.

They come with different variations. Some fully cover the steelbook. Some leave one side open (for steelbooks with games which you play a lot). There's also versions that fit on steels with J-Cards or sleeves.

Like most, all my steels are stored in the plastic sleeves then kept in the cupboard.

I haven't had any recent steels rusting, a few of the older ones (Halo 2, Doom, etc) are bad for it as parts of the case simply had no paint covering & was just bare metal pretty much.

Funny. I actually used to own that identical heat sealer. Also used to have the industrial version that had a pedestal and foot pedal to do multiple bags hands-free/

i use heat gun and shrink film to seal them, looks like factory sealed.
