If this game will release in limited quantity, then it is a for sure buy.

From what I hear, yes. I don't have 100% confirmation on this, but for $30, it's a damn good investment.

Update - Pre-orders for this just sold out on Amazon.com. So yeah. . .

Update, Update - Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders again, but for how long? Also, Gamestop, both online and in-store, are no longer taking pre-orders, at the moment. This item is also sold out at Best Buy.com.

Ok, the Amazon.com re-listing only lasted for a few hours, as it is now sold out once again.. Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition is also sold out online at TRU. So this is looking like a true limited edition. I wonder how widely available this will be in physical stores?

I wouldn't be surprise if someone manage to pre-order hundred or thousand of copies and wait for unsuspected parents to purchase it at higher price. The game release close to Christmas holiday and I suspect it will be on high demand.

I think you're right about it being in high demand nearing Christmas. Nintendo products do very well during the holidays because of the family-friendly nature of their games.

And weird thing about Amazon.com is that pre-order availability of this Mario Collection seems to fluctuate. I'm just glad I pre-ordered long ago.

In the UK the only stores that have this edition are the Zavvi group, Play.com ( will arrive crushed so no point ordering from them), The Game group, powerplay.com and choices uk.

This thing is selling out quick, wonder if they will continue production after the new year or is it a one time thing because of the 25th year.

I remember reading somewhere that Nintendo only planned to produce these limited editions in 2010 (and we're in the last month, December), so this may very well be an actual limited print run.

Correction - I just Order 3 of these in case it is a limited run, there is now no more at the Game group, only play.com and tesco have this know.

Thanks for the vid, scourdx. I can't believe some people here in America complained of the $30 pricetag because this only comes with 4 Mario games. But this is a very nice package that I feel is completely worth the money.

The edition did not contain an extra DVD detailing Mario's history, but rather the soundtrack CD and booklet instead, like the NTSC version.

That's odd. . . I thought PAL versions came with a DVD. I wonder what happened, exactly?

And is the booklet substantial or just the size of a regular manual?
