Zavvi (UK online retailer, formerly of the high street before thrust into administration, and then later bought by "The Hut") recently made one hell of a costly cock-up regarding the sale of 507 newly released Red Wii consoles on eBay

Trading as "Zavvi_Outlet (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/zavvi_outlet/)", they mistakenly offered 507 UK PAL Red Nintendo Wii consoles for the exceedingly bargain price of £39.99 each, Buy It Now!

However, the confirmation eMail was in fact for a set of headphones, but a later eMail from Zavvi mentioned that there had indeed been a mistake, but they are willing to honour the price in the auction to avoid 507 unwanted negative feedback from disgruntled customers!

Below is a copy of the initial eMail sent by Zavvi_Outlet:

Brilliant News!

We made an error listing our Wii console for £39.99 but what a bargain for you!

You may receive a dispatch email for a set of headphones but please ignore your Wii is on its way

We hope to dispatch the console as soon as possible and hope for it to be with you early next week at the latest.

Kind Regards Zavvi_Outlet

And here is a subsequent eMail sent by them limiting orders to one per customer:

Dear <Customer name here>,

Hi

We did make an error on our Wii Console listing but to avoid disappointment
we are sending out the orders.

This has meant a big loss for us and we have had to restrict the sales to
one per person (based on delivery address)

We will be shipping one of your orders but this and any further orders have
regrettably been cancelled.

A refund will be processed by the end of the week.

Regards
Zavvi_outlet

Those lucky enough to spot the auction whilst it was live managed to grab themselves a bargain! These consoles typically retail at the RRP of £169.99 in most other high street stores

Here's the completed auction

I know exactly how you feel, I never get these auction at all, or low bidders. One of the unlucky ones
