If you haven't noticed the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition of Super Mario All-Stars sold-out almost as soon as it hit store shelves. The edition that originally fetched $30 new is currently going for around $80 on the 2nd hand market. If you're a collector and you didn't pick one up, well it seems you made a mistake.

There is some hope though Wired.com (http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/01/mario-all-stars-wii/) is reporting that due to the overwhelming demand that Nintendo is considering a reprint of sorts. No word on whether they're simply going to print more of the 25th Anniversary Edition or produce a different release altogether.
Nintendo public relations director Marc Franklin told Wired.com via email on Friday: "We are gratified by the consumer response to this limited-edition product, which we created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game on NES, because of the strong response, we are exploring the option of bringing this item back at a later date. ... Until that decision is made, consumers should check with retailers, as supplies will vary by store.”... View this article on the HomePage. I hope this turns out to be true.

It must be more limited or popular in NTSC regions, Here in the UK there is plenty of stock.

Yep, and we actually all knew that it would become rare in NTSC regions. Certain websites stopped taking pre-orders weeks before release.

:rotf:,

I'm sure current collector's are hoping that they don't do a re-print as it will destroy the value of theirs. LOL

Nintendo are a little stuck, it suppose to be a limited run release so can't keep producing these. I think Gemini commented on this some where and said that they may make a cut down version without the 25th limited logos and packaging. Sort of like a Classic or platinum release.

Yeah, that makes sense - Nintendo may just release the game itself in a standard case.

This way, demand can be satisfied and eBay profiteers will remain happy.

Yea, it would be a bit of a faux pas if Nintendo were to simply reproduce more of these 25th Anniversary Editions, as they were always touted as being "Limited".

I would think that they will most likely just reprint the game itself rather than the whole package, otherwise there would be an outrage if they were to reproduce the whole "Limited" package

It's kinda weird that this got so popular, considering that it's just a port of the old SNES game without any improvements. The booklet and soundtrack aren't to die for either. Isn't it out on the Virtual Console anyway?

I think alot of it has to do with the 25th Anniversary, the box art is also quite unqiue. I really like it myself. The red and gold contrast has a very premium feel to it.

The fact that Nintendo was saying it was a limited release also help it sell out quick.

We have to wait and see on if Nintendo will honour their promise and not reprint the 25th Anniversary edition.

Here in UK it's still in stock so not really a problem for us, but in the USA there seems to be much more demand and little supply.

All titles are on the VC, yes.

Too bad for those who didn't get it. This tells you when you want to order something limited, you preorder it first. I do hope Nintendo print the game and not the extra bonus DVD.

Yep, Mario All-Stars is receiving a reprint, after all. The Toys R Us website has it up for pre-order with a release date of March 13th, -priced at $30.

It's the complete limited edition packaging; not a gimped version.
