Dark Souls Limited Edition announced

Namco Bandai confirmed that there will be a Limited Edition for Europe. According to CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/300792/news/dark-souls-ace-combat-release-dates-confirmed/) the pre-order campaign will start today and allows you to receive a Limited Edition for no extra costs.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a shop which is already taking pre-orders on it so we need to be more patient.

Due out October 2011, the Dark Souls Limited Edition includes the following:

I buy multiplatform titles for X360 (PS3 is only for exclusives), but considering this is "Demon's Souls 2" I think PS3 will be the "definitive" version. Dunno...guess we'll see...

I just received an email from ShopTo.net informing me of this, so I will definitely be pre-ordering it right away in order to secure the extra content. I can always change my mind at a later date if need be, as this isn't out until later in the year, and it's easier to cancel than it is to try and track one down after such things sell out on pre-orders...

Like you, I buy multiplatform games for the Xbox, and only exclusives for the PS3, but I agree that many may opt for the PS3 version to compliment their Demon Souls, in the same way that many people who purchased Dead Rising 2 for Xbox did so because they already had the first game for that platform

However, one deciding difference for several games is that some games come on multiple discs for the Xbox version, whereas the PS3 version is all on one Blu-Ray disc (Eg, Final Fantasy XIII), so some people may opt for less discs.

Likewise, sometimes one version benefits from a unique exclusive, as was the case with the recently released Mortal Kombat 9 where the PS3 version featured Kratos

Not sure if these factors apply to this game though, but it's something to consider when on the fence between the PS3 and Xbox versions of many games

I just registered on the website to actually ask what do you guys think it would be the best UK website to order the limited edition from?

Im asking because my experience with these cardboard special editons (especially the psp ones) is not the best. They all come kinda squashed through amazon and pretty squashed from zavvi at least.

Any suggestions? ;)

I would pre-order copy from a Local GAME store and pick it up. If you pre-order more than one copy then go with GAME and Gamestation as they will send in a box.

Also HMV have been sending out bigger games in boxes lately. although so has Zavvi.

Ones to stay away from are: Play.com, my-memory, Tesco, Amazon, Shopto.net -(for me anyway others have had better experiences with shopto and Amazon).

Hit and miss stores: Game, Gamestation, HMV, Zavvi. Be careful with Game and Gamestation as if the game is over 1KG then they will not export.

There is no perfect store unless of course you order more than one, even then it's not perfect. The alternative is to ask in the wanted section for someone to export a perfect copy for you

The reason i order from the UK for instance is because, even with shipping, games are way much cheapper. And that's always a plus :)

By looking at the promo pictures, the EU gets the videos and soundtrack on discs and a regular strategy guide to download. The US gets the soundtrack, videos, and mini strategy guide to download. Even without the metal case, the EU set looks like better set.

I've never known Dark Souls to have gotten a 'steelbook case' to begin with, the main changes it had was about the strategy guide turning into a DLC instead of a physical book!

The Artbook
The Making of DVD
The Official Sound Track CD
The 'Complete' game guide (downloadable)


US Contains:

Limited edition art book
Mini-strategy guidebook
Soundtrack for digital download

Anyone know if the EU behind the scenes disc is region locked? I'm interested in the one for PS3 and am hoping it is a region free blu-ray disc instead of a PAL dvd. Thanks.

As this is the only version available at the moment (ie first print) then I'm sure there will be heaps around. I saw BP editions in stores after release date.

With so many floating around, there's no rarity hence it's not very valuable, certainly nowhere near that of the Demon's Souls LE's. Having said that, I preordered two copies, one I'm keeping sealed, just in case. :D

AFAIK, Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition was hard to come by (in stores) a month or two after release (Namco said they sold out). From what I've seen, they're going for pretty good prices on ebay (especially the sealed ones).

I still have a spare sealed copy Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition. You would only find them as used in the stores and EB would have opened them as well when they were released. I imported my copies from the UK as they worked out to be cheaper. :) I've yet to play the game ^_^

I remember seeing a copy of BPE in GAME shortly after release, it was still sealed as all their new games are. I didn't buy it because I already had a US copy. Wish I had though.

Managed to then pick up a sealed Deluxe Edition from the US later on.

No, I don't think Dark Souls had a SteelBook or metal tin before, only Ace Combat. But I am not happy that both seem to have changed contents since I pre-ordered mine back in May, and I'm strongly consdering cancelling this as well (already cancelled Ace Combat)

Also, don't forget that the Mortal Kombat CE had the SteelBook dropped from the UK release too


You would at least have thought that the retailers (in my instance, GAME) would let you know when a CE's contents change between you pre-ordering and release
