Hi everyone, I have already posted on the forum but I haven't introduced myself yet. I've been visiting this website for quite some time now, but I never really paid attention to the forums so I did not came here earlier and now I'm regretting.
My name's Pedro, I'm a videogame collector from Portugal and I am addicted to limited editions and press kits which is one of the main reasons why I started collecting more seriously. I started collecting for PS1 and PS2 but I eventually expanded my collection to almost every other mainstream system from Nintendo, Sega, Sony and Microsoft plus a few others from the old 8 bits to the current gen.
When I first started collecting I only expected to get the most important games (basically, my favourites) for all the systems. I eventually learned about other important, obscure and rare titles, so my wishlists started to grow A LOT and eventually my collection became what it is now. That's probably the second thing I like the most about collecting: learn about games that I totally didn't know about or simply ignored and add them to my wishlist. The first thing I like the most is the moment I finally get them :)
I now have a collection of over 2500 games and I am really proud of it. I don't have much space to keep all the stuff but I try my best to keep it in the best condition possible.
edit: I forgot to mention that I mainly collect PAL games. I do have some NTSC-US and JPN stuff but I usually try to get all I want that was released in PAL format before moving to other regions :)

I've got a couple of pictures with general views of my collection. I can't show everything because I have several rows of games in the same shelf, so this is the best I can do, hope you enjoy it:

That's one of the few NTSC things I have and the most expensive of all items BY FAR. Temporary insanity made me buy that and it took a few months to recover from the monetary damage that made, but I am pretty happy with it!

Yup, I also have a few other exclusives from Australia as well such as the TR Underworld Ultimate Fan pack, some steelbooks etc but I'm still missing a few that I hope to get within the next few months. The latest Aus exclusive thingy that I got was a boxed PAL NES top loader :)

Actually, I do. I don't really like to brag or show off too much so I don't really post links and that's why I don't have many views, but that's fine for me. Anyway I guess there's no point in hiding it now:

The box is huge, it doesn't fit any of my shelves alone because it taks too much space for other things. It's been a looong time since I gave up trying to put everything in exibition, unless I find a much larger room than I have at the moment. I'd like to open a museum someday or something of that sort, but right now all I have is this tiny room :) But the stuff above that box are nothing but a few light boxsets. I have rules with it comes to accomodate games and boxsets. And besides, I'm always changing the place of the games. That box won't be there for too long. Nearly all the boxes I have are protected with cellophane, including large ones like the crysis 2 edition. When I need to open them, I just open the celophane too, and then close it again. And I never put something fragile under something with the same or bigger weight. In fact, I try to avoid piling more than two card boxes one over the other. Those pictures are a little outdated, they were taken near the beginning of this year and I had to change some things.

I'm not quite sure when I first bought this, but it was around the end of last year. I'd say about 7 or 8 months ago. It cost me about 760 euros, I'm not sure about the real price I paid in dollars. It was temporary insanity and some savings I had that I'm now trying to recover. It made a pretty big damage to my wallet, that edition...

I converted that to dollars and its a little over $1,000 right now. Though I'm not sure how the exchange rate was 7-8 months ago... I have seen one of those go for around $1500 before, so you might have gotten slightly lucky anyway.

Awesome update!! some great editions, where'd you pickup that KZ2 Tin?
Saturn
11-22-2011, 10:03 PM
Thanks for the comments. The large Army of Two box is a well-known asian (korean to be more precise) special edition. It was available for sale at play-asia for a rather cheap price. I got it off a spanish ebay member for 25 euros. Postage was almost as much as the edition :/
The Brink tin came from ebay.co.uk and it costed 21 GBP. It's the australia bonus tin case with extra content (some postcards, DLC and some sort of tattoos I think...)
The Killzone 2 came from australia and I won it from ebay. The final price was rather cheap (about 6 bgp or so) but the postage costs screwed that price big time.
Some other things will be added later.

That came from game4game.at, it was a limited exclusive from that store. I had to preorder. I learned about it in this forum, otherwise I would just have missed it.
There's a similar edition in new zealand that should be easier to find. The tresure edition is a little rare because there are only 266 for each platform, so it may be hard to get one now, sorry :(

Saturn
12-03-2011, 10:46 PM
The mirror's edge steelbook I believe was exclusive to El Corte Inglés, which sold the game for a rather cheap price after some time. I have absolutely no idea how many were available but I can say that it ain't THAT rare in spain. This tin cost me 30 euros plus postage from ebay and I only got it because it's cheap, seems to be worth a ridiculously high amount on ebay and it's sort of a collector's edition because it includes a bonus DVD.
This is a one country exclusive that simply isn't worth not even close to what we see collectors from other countries paying. In fact I know this was available with the game for a rather cheap price at some time after its price dropped.

and What is inside the DS press kit? =O
Saturn
03-26-2012, 01:36 AM
Thanks for the comments
Darkstones is a western RPG released for PC and PS1. It's not very famous and got only average reviews. I never had the chance to play it and the only copy I have of this game besides the PC version included in this press kit is a factory sealed PAL copy for PS1. Took me some time to get this game (not because it's rare or anything like that) so I thought I could pick the press kit as well because I've had the chance. Paid 15 euros for it, which is a rather nice price.
The DS press kit is a dossier It includes several information sheets for brain training, nintendogs, tetris, trauma center, electroplankton and big brain academy and comes with press discs for brain training, nintendogs, trauma center and big brain academy. Might post more pics later if you want.
I forgot to add some other items, will add them later.

I'm not sure if there are identical because I don't really have a way to compare. I assume that if they aren't the final version they should be very close to that. But these are HD versions of games previously released and not exactly something made from scratch so there are very high chances these are the identical from the game.

Well... yes and no at the same time. It seemed quite impressive but to be honest, it's not as great as it seems. I admit they did a good job impressing people though. I thought it was amazing before I received it. After I got it I understood it's not worth more than the original price they asked.

Thanks for the comments. I had no idea the Saint Seiya edition was numbered. Actually, the edition itself is not, but the head gear included is made by Branpresto and includes a numbered certificate of authenticity. I first said I was not going to buy it because the price was too much for such a poor edition - which I think it is, but then...
1. I saw the box for sale and was impressed by how good it looked
2. HUGE size
3. The headgear doesn't look as bad as it seemed (in the pics it seems not accurate at all) but it's better in real life and it's made by Branpresto
4. Learned it comes with a certificate for the head gear
5. Found it locally for a cheaper price than amazon.fr
... I didn't even think twice.

You could get it from Amazon.fr for about half the price. A lot of people from here got it that way. This boxset is troublesome for us to get because it had so few releases over here (a couple of them to just a few selected stores) and the box is so big that shipping costs are insane, not to mention the risk of receiving something this big by mail... The last one I saw at a physical store was partially destroyed... and they were asking 150 euros for it. I don't know what happened but it disappeared. They sold it I guess... :/

- Finally, the most important one, the only one I've ever seen is the one I own: Sleeping Dogs

There are a couple of other press kits and special editions heading my way. I will post them as soon as I get them.
I am also trying to win a Black Ops II Care Package through a facebook competition so I made a dumb/comic picture of myself. I won't be able to buy that when it gets released. Unfortunately that's a "like" contest, wins the person with the highest number of likes so it's nearly impossible for me to get it. Here's the pic I've made (you can laugh or cry...) (tinyurl.com/ck9pqju)
And the rest of the entries are also VERY lame...:
