List of Limited Edition Xbox 360 Consoles

Hi all

I was thinking that we need a list of limited edition consoles which may become part of the database in the future. But if this is to happen we need a sizeable list of consoles editions before adding them.

These can be the following:

Uniquely themed consoles, i.e Final Fantasy xiii Lightning edition PS3
Limited Bundle edition i.e Call of duty black ops bundle PS3.
Home and mobile consoles.
All regions all platforms and generations but not PC, or consoles outside of Microsoft Nintendo, Sega and Sony.

It can be any year from the original NES onwards.

If you want one of the final Fantasy consoles, I would get a cheaper Korean or Chinese model rather than a Japanese version. unless you want it the more valuable version.

Not at all, they are consoles every collector would be very interested in. Even if we decided not to use them, they will be included in a separate section.

I originally though it would be ok because we have press kits which are not available to the public. However unlike press kits, these completion editions are won by the public and go into the public domain.

What's more the original criteria was an official serial code on the back of the unit. which makes these official consoles. Press kits do not have any age rating, serial codes, bar codes and more importantly no region code. Which means they are not official products of their platform holders and are instead made by a 3rd party company with review codes. Though still ownership is with the platform holder. They can not sold into the public for the reasons above. Where as the consoles have to meet these criteria.

Most press kits I've seen are region coded, the only ones I've seen that aren't are some of the PS3 kits from Sony Computer Entertainment.

I also wouldn't go by the bar code on the packaging... for instance Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition, was a real product sold to the public, and it has no bar code or any kind of serial marking on the package.

really those are only required if the product is being sold in a brick and mortar store where the cashiere needs to scan out the products.

I would suspect there are quite a few special release games and consoles without any markings on the packaging.

The difference with these custom competition consoles is the fact that they are no different from fan-made custom consoles. We realy need official citation of these consoles before we add them, otherwise we might be accidentally adding someones custom paint job by mistake

What I suggest is, instead of a UPC code, we have a "Source" field, where we can add links to any online citation of any promotional events where these consoles were won

Obviously some are more well known than others (such as the Simpsons console), but others are less known

Someone who might be good to ask about these is Nicola from GameSniped.com, as he seems to have a keen interest in these kind of things, and might have some valuable knowledge about them

I don't see the R2D2 one mentioned, but I was just skimming. I think it would be useful if we knew exactly which hardware each special edition has too. Not just slim or fat, but which fat revision those ones were if anyone knows (Zephyr, Falcon, Jasper). I'm guessing the Red Resident Evil or MW2 ones might be Jasper units, but I don't know. I'd almost be tempted to look for a fat jasper as a backup over a slim. My 120GB Elite Jasper model has been running 24/7 for 2 years now.

p.s. You guys are listing "Resident Evil 4" consoles, I believe it was RE5. :P

The only problem your going to have is finding them all for pics or

But the seller of this Xbox thought it's one of five. Maybe he mixed it up because there were 5 different consoles they put up as the first price for the Hitman contest. There are 5 of them. Possibly 6 because one was used for display. You can still find details about the contest online. If there were 5 different designs, this is the only one I can find. Like you said though, either way is cool. :)

You may be hard pressed to get one of us to part with a limited edition console,each member may have different reasons for wanting to hold on to them. The main one for me is its a really big pain in the bum finding them & i love knowing i am only one of a very few that have one anywhere in the world. There is one i am selling but,its not really a true limited edition. Its a Gears of War 3 Console,new/unsealed. If you want that i will sell,everything else stays with me for now,lol:)

That console is part of the Xbox "Swagfest" which included Xbox consoles as top prizes. They made Tomb Raider, Gears of War Judgement, Bioshock Infinite, Game of Thrones and Splinter Cell Xbox consoles to give away.

Yeah, he has been trying to sell his Joker Xbox 360 for a long, long time now. Last time he put it up in auction format and my first thought was "What is the point? He will just pull the auction at the end anyway." Which is exactly what happened.

No telling how long it will take to sell that Fable console.

I received it from Microsoft. These were not available at retail.
