I have just stumbled upon a few listings for the Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure starter pack for PS3, X360, Wii, and PC on the GAME website

These are the only versions listed at time of writing, so they may be the only packs avalable upon launch, or standard editions could follow closer to release day or soon afterwards...

I can't imagine there being a separate standard version, as without the pack you can't play the game.

I mean in the future if they choose to make another Skylanders game, they may release this one as a solus. In the same way that the first Guitar Hero came with the guitar peripheral, but was then re-released as a solus once GH2 & GH3 were released
