Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3 Hardened Edition Details Leaked

Many of you wrote it to tell us about a wired article (http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/08/modern-warfare-3-hardened-edition/) showing off leaked advertisement info for the upcoming Hardened Edition of Modern Warefare 3.

The photo shows the BBFC rating logo meaning this is likely information on the UK release (although if past COD CEs are any indication all versions internationally are the same). While not specifically mentioned it seems that again, like past COD releases, it will include a SteelBook case for the game disc itself.

What seems most peculiar to me is that Activision has waited so long to mention details on this release and the inevitable Prestige Edition, even after this leak they refused to comment. lol no they (MW2) have been on ebay since 2009...ive seen auctions go less than £20 aswell....there are loads and MW3 will be no different im in no hurry to own an edition produced in the 100,000's

Well unfortunately Infinity Ward was messing with us and didn't tell us. There will be no gas mask. There will only be ONE collector's edition. The hardened edition. Elite is for online crap, and if any downloads come around, i.e. guns or maps, you will get the for free. Way to go Infinity Ward and screw us of a prestige edition..

I picked up one of them at the time. I already had the Hardened Edition, but I sold the one that came with the Prestige. Basically got the car and everything else for next to nothing.

In regards to the MW3:HE, the Elite membership does nothing for me, I don't play that much MP. If that could be taken out and the pack purchased for $30-$40 cheaper I'd be all over it like a fat kid at an all you can eat buffet! :rotf:

I love the steelbook, and I want the HE to go with my MW2 & Black Ops ones, but I'll be waiting till someone drops the price. I've got plenty to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Have to agree with Mos on this as i picked up a new MW2 hardened edition for the xbox 360 for £17 last year and the prestige edition for £50,so i will definately be waiting.:thumb:

After a lot of thought, I decided to preorder the HE. As I don't really need the elite membership code I figure I can sell it afterwards and recoup some money.

Robert Bowling from Infinity Ward has confirmed via Twitter that there WILL NOT be a MW3 Prestige Edition, and that the Hardened Edition will be the only CE available for this title

I was wondering that myself. Perhaps they just changed the interior to hold four discs instead of three, which wouldn't be hard to replace. Also, there's a 99% chance it will only be in G3 size (DVD size). Judging by the picture, the exterior looks exactly like the French edition. It kinda made me sad to think we had a complete exclusive that nobody else has down here only to be shot down like a wounded horse. :(

However, I'm now very disappointed in this before I've even received it! :(

I'm just wondering why the exterior casing for the Hardened Edition is so unnecessarily large, when the contents clearly don't warrant it? I'm sure that they could've made this a much smaller and more compact Limited Edition, similar in size to the first two Gears Of War LE's.

It just seems like false advertising, where we're led to believe that the large box includes something large inside, when in actual fact all it contains is a few DLC codes & a notebook, which could have easily have been included in a package thinner than the size of a standard VHS case


I'm left wondering whether there is anything actually special about the case it all comes it? But what could possibly constitute having a package that large? Does the case have some kind of hidden compartment perhaps? I am trying to find a reason here, but obviously the only people who know are the ones who designed this edition...

Activision are certainly going to receive complaints and a backlash regarding this edition, just you wait and see!

yea..i actually read it from one of those stock market analysts forms that know the company well (EA)...they said by the time christmas rolls around, there will be 10 million hardended editions in North America..has demand is strong for this particular package for the holidays..EA is not the one to give up sales.,..companies like Best Buy and Toys R Us are demanding hardended edition product on shelves..so lure people in to shop.

SORRY about the company mixup..yes it is activision,..they've "envisioned"..this as the biggest entertainment launch/demand in history..and retailers are well aware of the hype around this hardened edition..so massive reorders have been placed..you'll see them being advertised for blackfridays and the weeks before christmas..they anticipate 10 million shipments for North America including canada and puerto rico region.
