As most may know already there will be a decent Collector's Edition for Sonic Generations for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. Well, better late than never. The Collector's Edition, which, for whatever reason is exclusive to Europe and Australia comes packed in a fancy lenticular box that changes the cover art depending on what angle you're looking at it from.
It also includes the following items:

I hope this doesn't turn out like X-Blades wherein you had a collector's edition that puts other collector's editions to shame, but the game didn't merit or deserve it.

That statuette of the two Sonics made me cry a little inside. Made me remember my childhood (Sonic was the first video game character I ever knew and loved) and reflect on how far Sonic has come.

It also made me cry a lot outside. Why the hell is it another one of those PAL-exclusive CEs?!

For some reason, I couldn't check out on their website either. I tried with different browsers and computers, but no good. Every time I enter my address and try to save it, it doesn't do anything. I can't make it past the "Billing Details" pop up. Whenever I click "save", it doesn't actually save my address. I just noticed they take PayPal (only problem is that they would charge right away, I suppose).

Though my total with Amazon.de came out to €98 so that's roughly $134US (game was €84 and shipping&handling was €14). Guess it is cheaper to go with them, though not by much. What's odd is that Amazon shows the game as being €99E, not €84. Unless there's something I missed.

This is the difference in Tax percentage. In Germany it is 19% as oppose to the 6-8% in the Canada.

In most of Europe TAX is included in the display price, not sure why it is not in the US or CA.

Oh, right, taxes. Guess I've been buying too much on Ebay lately and actually forgot about them (I usually just buy from individuals so I rarely deal with taxes). I do wish they were included in the display price in North America to be honest. It's always a nasty surprise at the end. Would be so much better if they were just displayed right away. ^Tell me about it. I missed The Uncharted EE as well. I wouldn't have ordinarily but it was one I had to sacrifice for I have a holiday planned, too. Sonic would also be one I was going to cancel but upon checking it sold out I think I will hold on now. I do want it but the price just seemed too high. All I can hope for is a solid quality model and a decent, real gold ring (low carat given the price).

Really? I think it's actually quite good for the price, considering that most editions are £100 or thereabouts nowadays for nothing but an artbook and a figurine. This has lots of info, etc on the history and making of sonic, the model, the numbered ring, the cool outer box and the artbook, for £75 :) Would have been better if it was cheaper of course, but I actually think it's not too bad for the price :) xx

I enjoyed purchased the Batman AC CE for less than two-thirds of the RRP at the local stores. The Batman AC was full of digital contents as well as a high quality statue and artbook/case cover. It was also interestingly well presented and the game also accounts for quality.

We're not 100% on Sonic game quality and do we know what the statue is made of/from? I was only able to get a $20 discount on Sonic CE, but I guess that's better than nothing, I just hope we don't see a plethora of them with a massive price drop within weeks of release, that would really piss me off!

Lucky, I never get discounts haha! I agree that the Batman AC CE is one of the best of this year, if not the absolute best so far! So that's a hard one to compare Sonic too, especially since Batman CE was only £55 which is an amazing price, so yeah I do kinda see your point there :P xx

Well, I don't really have a choice with Sonic as it's sold out here and it's difficult to predict the market in Aus. Sometimes sold out CE's comeback months later at huge price drops, but it's really difficult to tell...it could take a year sometimes :S

I think the last Sonic game I enjoyed was Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast. Otherwise I bring out my Genesis. I still think the classic Sonic stages should have been in 16 bit. That would have been so neat! I'll be really pleased if Generations turns out to be any good, though! Sonic deserves to have good games again.

The statue is resin I believe which I'm sure you know is a heavy material. If I had to guess I would say 1.5 - 2KG. Pure guess though, either way you will know by tomorrow.

I got my copy from Amazon just know, packaging was quite damaged and I though the game was going to be aswell. The delivery man was a complete loser, his attitude was terrible, that's Yodel for you.

It's 2.3KG and is 27cm x 22cm 21cm.

Alot of collector's are complaining about the release date change. it looks like it moslty Xbox 360 copies that been delayed.

I never used to pre-order anything and, in all honesty, I wish i'd never started. We had the GT5 Signature delay last year, the big Resistance 3 Survivor balls-up recently with GAME/station followed by the Space Marine CE no-show for PS3 at the same place. Now this Amazon caper.:suicide:

Yeah, i know. I just don't understand the UK CE market at all. You couldn't find a copy of the Castlevania Lords of Shadow CE at any price over here at release and yet there were plenty of sealed copies to be had in Europe.

Same with the Resistance 3 Survivor Edn . . .big shortage in the UK but plenty in the rest of Europe.:scratch:

Wouldn't it make more sense for these online arseholes to close down the pre-orders a coupla weeks before release date and then make sure they have enough copies to go round. If it's popular then get more . . .I mean, how bloody difficult can it be :facepalm:

That edition is Europe only, isn't it? And probably Australia. So they may be 12 000 in the whole PAL region.

It should be 12000 in total for all countries because the ring is what numbers this edition and they wouldn't make two rings with the same number as that would be dumb.

Yeah it's 12,000 worldwide (which is only EU and AUS considering these are the only places to receive the edition I believe).

Mine was never shipped. Going to cancel it and try to get a German copy after all. :( So frustrating that suppliers aren't getting their stock. I hope they'll be able to cancel it fast as I don't want to wait too long before ordering. Sigh. Hopefully this won't happen with the Crystal edition of XIII-2!

It probably will be in German (my R3 Survivor Edition was) but I can't be certain, the game will still be playable in English, it's just that writing on the box will be in German xx

Inside each edition there's a ring that's equal to both the ps3 and 360 versions. That ring has a number/12000. I don't think they would produce the same ring twice with two equal numbers.

My Amazon.fr seller has yet to cancel my order, bleh. I sent him another message. He can't even tell me if he'll get it in stock (and assured me before that I could cancel it). I hope he'll stick to his words and do it. I don't want to go ahead and order another copy until this is canceled. Sigh.

IT WAS THE "PURPLE GORILLA"...i am sooo mad about this, because i CANNOT do an exchange because it's SOLD OUT!!!, possingly a return but i am yet to hear back from them..and i could order the german version, but this of course, was the all english one..:(..and i feel like i got screwed, because from what i can tell..if an additional "airpack" or two where in the box, the game package itself, would'nt have to absorb the blows...if you live outside of australia, you have been forewarned about ordering from them for international shipping, if you expect your item to arrive in top shape..this is'nt just shelfware, it's actual damage :(

No, sadly, I believe they only take Credit Cards.
They do have 13 copies left. Since taxes are lower here (not sure about USA, though), my total with shipping was €94. Which isn't too bad considering how much it's going for on eBay now.

Dam that sucks ugh I don't sadly have a credit card and I don't really want to bother my dad to use his. That price is a really good deal and hopefully US don't have to pay high taxes either.

..if sonic is soo popular in europe and the collectors set is supposedly limited to 12,000 worldwide, and just about every other retailer is sold out..how come amazon.de won't sell out?...it's been weeks..maybe pushing a month..they seem to have an endless supply of sonic collectors edition..just thought it was interesting.

Most likely because it's in German. Most collectors seem to be after the English version... even though you could just go buy the regular version and play that one in English.

believe it or not, actually the game has english language settings in the menu screening, and all sonic graphics are in english on all the swag you get, the german part is the instruction manual, the back of the box, and the download card info is in german..it's more of a german/english hybrid..but the game can be played in english

Really? That's good to know! I haven't even had time to try my copy yet (backlog too crazy, ugh), but I thought it would be in German only. Not that I'd mind, it's always interesting to see games in other languages, but it's nice that it offers both. I can take the North American version off my wanted list. :) And I guess that's an even bigger motivation to actually give that game a spin. Mostly just watched videos of it and listened to reviews. I usually test them, but since I thought I was going to get another copy, I considered just keeping one sealed for the first time ever (ain't happening now!).

Now I really don't know why the Amazon.de version isn't selling out.
