Hi all

A few of will have noticed that when you start a new thread in the market place, you will now be confronted with some default text.

This is to help speed up and aid the buying and selling process on the forum. There are "For sale" and "wanted" thread that lack some important details at first and as such made the process slower and more difficult.

It's really to allow the buyer to make an informed decision quicker.

So lets go through the process with the do's and don'ts, as an example I will use my copy of Dead Space ultra which I will pretend sell.

1) Start a Thread and it will look like this:
-----------

http://www.web-nine.com/albums/website/fs1h.sized.jpg
-------------------------------------------------------------------

For those that don't know, the "" and "" mean that any text between them will be in bold characters. Please do not delete these, you will write your description directly after "[/b]"

OK now lets go through each one separately.

-----------------------------
For Sale - This is just confirming that the item is for sale, you do not need to do anything here. leave it as it is.

-----------------------------
Title: - Write the full title including the type of edition, e.g "Dead Space Ultra Edition".

Title: Dead Space Ultra Edition

-----------------------------
Platform: - This is pretty obvious you can use abbreviation if you like to speed up the process but the full name of the console is preferred. E.g Xbox 360

Title: Dead Space Ultra Edition
Platform: Xbox 360

------------------------------
region: This is quite important, you need to be quite specific here. There are many members that collect a specific country Limited editions only, even if they are the same colour encoding system. e.g UK PAL or Germany PAL, same coding system but there is a good chance the German version will be edited and cut down due to the more stringent censorship.

The same goes for Canada NTSC and Usa NTSC, the Canadian version may have a a different cover and more importantly seal type. A prime example Marvel vs Capcom 3 Special edition, The Canadian version had a dual language slip cover and came sealed on the outside, the US version had only the internal steel book and comic sealed.

So our example for Dead space would be "Usa NTSC" or "US NTSC"

For Sale
Title: Dead Space Ultra Edition
Platform: Xbox 360
region: US NTSC

-----------------------------
Price: - you have multiple options here, these are:

1) Actual price wanted for the game, you can also add "ono" which mean "or nearest offer" if the price is negotiable. When giving a price please ensure you also state the currency, example USD, GBP, Euros, etc These are abbreviation and anyone buy or selling should understand these. A list of currency abbreviation can be found here: http://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=EUR

2) Trade - if you prefer a trade over a sale or are willing to accept a trade you can use this option, state if you looking for a specific game or type of game trade. E.g Trade for PS3 Collector's edition. You can add more details at the end of your listing.

So our example Dead Space, I would want £500 GBP ono, there is an "ono" because the price is negotiable. remove the "ono" if this is not the case.

Platform: Xbox 360
region: US NTSC
Price: $500 GBP ono

---------------------------------
Condition: - You have only three options here, Factory Sealed, New or Used.

Factory Sealed - These are games with the original factory seal intact, there can be a some damage to the seal or game itself. However significant damage to either the seal or game would be classed as "New". Do NOT include games that were never originally factory sealed, for example many Australian collector's editions and certain PS3 Steel books. The reason for this is that there is no way to confirm the contents have not be replaced, even if the internal contents are factory sealed.

New - These are games that have the original outer seal removed but the contents have not be open or used. Include games that didn't have any outer seal, see above. Also include games that have the original factory seal but have a significant level of damaged to either the seal or game, for example most of the seal missing or if the box has rips and crush marks.

Used - The game has been played or the contents damaged/missing including DLC. Also include games with a seal but damage beyond the original shape of the box.

Use only these three options above.

So for our example, Dead Space is new because the outer seal is missing but the internal contents are still sealed and untouched.

--------------------------------------------

Detail conditions: This is where you describe specific details, such a rips to seal, damage to box/case or missing items, please be a detailed as possible.

In our example, the outer seal is missing but internal contents are still sealed.

How do you change your title?

How do you change your title?

When you edit your your thread, click "Go Advance", this will bring up the advance editor.

You can now see and edit your title at the top.

It only edits the thread title inside the thread?
How do I delete it so I can redo it?

gurpswoo1

Ah I see

when in the thread view, double double click the title. You may have to use the wheel button on the mouse.

No good or I'm just not getting it.
Can I create a new thread and let this one sick to the bottom?

You will have to get the Mods to lock your thread, you are not suppose to have more than 1 for eeal thread.

But other than that, I don't see why not.

Maybe I'm just a picky douchebag, but having the "region:" part uncapitalized amidst the rest of the entries bugs me to no end. >.>

Open them in a program like Paint and find the option to resize them. It's not difficult, just mess with it until you're happy with the size.

If you have Paint,

Open image and then select the "image" drop down menu, and select "Stretch and Skew".

Change percentage, you will have to use trial and error to find right size. make sure to change both horizontal and vertical percentages and makes sure they are the same value.

Hey there,

I'm new here, so please bear with me. I know it's forbidden to put "make an offer" instead of a price when posting a for-sale thread, but what if I put a price in my thread and moments later I have like 5 people willing to buy an item, some of them ready to pay much more than a posted price?

Of course, when I oficially tell Person A "the item is yours, here's my PayPal e-mail", I won't change my mind even after Person B later offers me more,. Promise is promise.

But I think it's my right to choose from a variety of offers before I make a final decision who the items goes to. Now, the question is - how do I handle the "current bid" stuff? Shall I put a post in my thread with "Guys, I've got an offer from some Rich Man, he wants to pay 50 EUR, instead of 5 EUR I originally wanted. Does anyone want to outbid him?"

PS No, I don't have an eBay account. And, to be perfectly honest, I didn't even think there would be more than one, if any, person interested in my stuff.

Hi monk,

Opening a "bidding war" is against the rules. If you are not sure what the item is worth, it would be better to find out before putting it up for sale. The other thing you can do is overestimate the value, and put "$XX or best offer."

Accepting whosoever offer is ultimate up to you.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Thank you!

I had been trying to find out how much my items were worth before I posted the thread, but couldn't find anything, they don't even figure in the site's DB. :/ I have little experience in selling such stuff, I used to simply keep them myself or give them away as gifts. You wouldn't even imagine how many oversized, game-related T-shirts my not-gaming girlfriend wears as pyjamas. ;)

Anyway, I'll do my best to act more like a "law-abiding citizen" (*) next time.

(*) Quite a good movie, huh?

guys, why is it that whenever I edit my thread title, it doesn't actually change the title on the "for sale" page?

This is a problem that effects some users but not others, I have the exact same problem.

In the end I was forced to ask the MOD to do it for me, hopefully there is a fix or someone knows what we are doing wrong.

I had the problem one time, never again. It seems completely random; if it doesn't work, just try the next day.

In the right corner on the first page, there is a red triangle so click it and write you want to close it :) Or PM a mod :)

edit:// sorry, didn't see Swift's post before :)

it's better to report the post, our PM boxes get enough as it is.

The forum now auto-closes marketplaces threads if there has been no activity for 30 days... so if it's an older thread you don't have to worry about it.

Hey guys. I want to edit the title of my thread but its nt working...

How old is the thread?

After 30 days or so you lose the ability to change thread titles

If that's the case, go to the thread in question and the first post of that thread

Then click on the report button http://collectorsedition.org/forums/images/buttons/report.gif

It's in the top right corner and a message box will appear

Then type in "I would like to change the thread title to the following: [Place New Thread Title Here]"

Does that make sense?

Yes sir! o_o' makes sense

Just wondering, but are we able to sell "pre-orders" for items on here? For instance, I've paid for an item I'm pre-ordering. And its very limited but I decide I no longer want to keep the pre-order due to budget constraints, so I either a) cancel the pre-order or b) help out a member here by selling it to them in advance ? Can we do that? If not, I completely understand why, was just curious. Thanks!

You can also use "Irfanview", a free program that has resizing, rotating, vert. & Horz. flip, add border/frame, color correction, sharpen and much more. I use it regularly for Ebay sales. Here's a link where you can d/l it -
