I want something like this:

http://www.cgagrading.com/OnlineStore/DVDGameCasePlaystationWiiGamecubeXbox360GameDiskHi ghQualityAcrylicCase.html

The plastic see-through case. I want to buy a few, but don't want to pay $14.99 each. Are there cheaper alternatives?

And where can I find regular polyvinyl slipcovers, not like this thick plastic, but like regular sleeves that come with certain releases, may be of slightly better quality? Just so that steelbooks are not in direct contact on the shelves?

yes - they come in a variety of thickness, the losest I have seen is 20 microns, better ones are 25 microns. Some go to 35 microns.

Also the seam on the side come in varying strengths, some spilt very easily and are weak. Others are very strong and take alot to pull apart.

Another difference is some have vent holes and there is also the placement of the seal strip.

If you're in Canada and looking for plastic bags/sleeves for steelbooks/cases, give blankmedia.ca a try.
http://www.blankmedia.ca/DVD-OPP-PLASTIC-BAG-FOR-14MM-DVD-CASE-100-PCS-Prodview.html
$3.25 for 100 14mm resealable bags. They're fairly thin, and will work just fine for normal steelbooks, and are alright for blu-ray/ps3 sized steelbooks. Not recommended for steelbooks that have any sort of sleeve already on top of them.

As for the site, they're great for anyone who's in Ontario since orders can be picked up to eliminate shipping costs. They also sell replacement cases for PS3 game cases for $18.95 for 46, and 360 game cases for $18.95 for 54.

They are good, these however are slightly bigger than standard DVD wraps.

They are very expensive though.

Gee's right these are slightly bigger, they will take a steelbook with a sleeve over it,they still fit nicely over standard steelbooks though.

This is quite clearly an "S3 Safer" by Alpha Security, which most stores (such as Tesco) use to protect their games.

The new line of S3 Safers are pretty slim and unobtrusive, provided you don't mind the clip-on part used for hang-tabs. The RF security device is redundant if used for displaying, but you should make sure that you have a very strong magnet (such as a car speaker magnet) at hand just in case you wish to reopen the case again

I have been trying for some time to find a stockist of these S3 Safers, as I too wish to have my SteelBook collection and rare games displayed in them, but unfortunately anywhere I have found them will only ship to confirmed businesses (for security reasons)
