Rockstar Games have announced that Max Payne 3 will receive a Special Edition which will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC. They also have unveiled the first details of the Special Edition which will include the following content for sure:

Max is one of my most favourite games, especially since it was part of my teenage years. So makes it all the more important for me to pick it up...That Max on Sax cutscene from Max payne 2 <3

Deus Ex, Sonic, System Shock (through Bioshock), Driver and now Max Payne. So glad to see the classics back. I heard the cutscene-comic panels are back... and they're better than ever. :yes: Still worried about the game though, given the history of the games that take a while before they come out. Take a look at Alan Wake or Duke Nukem Forever for instance. Those were horrible, horrible games. Then you have Gran Turismo 5 and L.A. Noire. No doubt that those two amazing games, but if you're like me, you can tell that so much potential was squandered.

Then again, Skyrim took five years to make and it has a good chance of winning the competition, which is pretty good if you take into consideration how Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Dark Souls, LittleBigPlanet 2, Gears 3, Human Revolution and Revelations all performed. Also, I doubt Rockstar's gonna want to screw this up. Max Payne is just as definitive to their name as Grand Theft Auto.

By the way, for those who don't know yet, the statue's being made by Triforce; they're the guys responsible for the Gears 3 Epic Edition Marcus Fenix statue.

Yeah, I opted to get it locally and have preordered at GAME, due to the price not being much more and I get it on release day, not 1-2 weeks afterwards. :popcorn:
As I only get 360 versions (except for PS3 exclusives) we don't know if the game will be region free so getting it from the US would be a gamble.

this is'nt right, rockstar games, well at least the local gamestop stores, were hyping this up, as an very limited run, and after the 1/15/12 cut off, that's it..and it's gonna be very difficult to come by after the fact, so now we can all see, at least in north america, there really is'nt a cut off date, so most likely thousands more will be sold right up to release date, and probably thousands more will flood the market, after the fact, since this is no longer as limited as stated and intended, i am going to CANCEL my pre-order..because why should i pay $100 now?..when we know these will be still sitting on shelves after spring into summer for around $50,...if the pre-orders all of a sudden dissappeared on 1/15/12..then okay, totally worth it in my book..because it would have the appearance of being genuinely limited...well not anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...;)..whose with me!!??..hahaha

yea, this sucks, when first announced in north america, it was available ONLY at amazon and gamestop, and there was a short 6 week window to place orders, and then it would have been cut off on Jan 15th, so when release day came around, supposedly supplies were supposed to be extremely tight, and only found at those 2 retailers, a true limited edition..but now it's a farce!!!!!!..i'm pissed...there's gonna be literally thousands and thousands more made, and even more and more retailers are offering it..what a bummer, first the metal gear solid fiasco with zavvi and now this one, i hope somebody in 2012 does offer a genuine limited edition set.

Max Payne has a strong fan base. A decent game franchise and advertised well by Rockstar. Xbox360 SE's have a good track record of selling well. Only If the game was a "limited SE" it would be even be more valuable.

The SE is only available for pre order till April 2nd as long as they don't mass produce the game in the future. Prepare to see "no longer being printed" on ebay after April 2nd when scalpers start selling the SE.

The game will be a worthy investment. Then again could be a total failure. LOL:hammer:

HMV charged me the usual 2.50 pounds for overseas delivery. I sent them an email asking if they will indeed send it to other countries since it'll be a rather big package and they said yes. However, I am still concerned if they actually do that.

I'll keep both preorders for now, but thanx for the feedback guys and gals!

That's strange. I always had two options, standard delivery for 2.50 and overseas courier for 27. Obviously I have never used the courier option. I tried again just now and I still have only these two options. :)

This will be my first Max Payne game. I have the Special Edition preordered for all three systems: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. I can't decide which one to keep and which two to cancel. PS3 will be on one disc as opposed to Xbox 360 on two discs. I don't know if if graphics/gameplay will be better on one console over the other. The PC graphics will probably be best, but I hear Rockstar does not have a good reputation for pc releases. Also will gameplay be good with a mouse and keyboard? Will pc version support xbox controller? Any opinions welcome. Thanks.

If we talk about rockstar games then the graphic quality goes like this

PC > Xbox360 > PS3

Just check the requirements to see if you can run it @max settings +30fps, if you can't run it @medium settings +30fps then go for the Xbox version.

And yes, keyboard and mouse is the best option for Third Person Shooters.

Not sure about the rest of the world, but in Australia most retailers are no longer taking pre-orders for this. EB says they still have a very limited amount of stock available, only only, but that's it.

Even if it's not limited, who cares? Most CE's are rarely limited and most of them are still around after release and drop in price. Like regular games, if you want it on release, you pay the full price. If you're willing to wait to save some cash, or if you're a cheap skate, then you wait for it to drop in price (if it's still around).

I think numbers wise, you have to remember it's pre-order only - technically the numbers shouls be fairly restricted depending how many folk/shops have pre-ordered a load.

i tend to ignore all unboxing videos and so called reviews - at the end of the day all that matters is my opinion of the item, if i think it is good or not - nothing good can come from reviews and unboxing all that happens is you start believing these people's views and opinions as fact and assure yourself it is going to be crap or that you don't want it anymore - all before you even have it in your hands!

In my defence I tend to pick up on trends in reviews and from those get a good idea if I'll like or hate a game. For example, I didn't think I'd like Red Dead Redemption (don't like GTA or Westerns) but I love the game - thanks largely to the reviews and picking up on bit's here and there.

Likewise watching the unboxings (with sound off) I get a good feel for it I'll like something...I love the look of the bullet, but the figure looks a bit cheap and too plastic TBH. I could split and sell what I don't want but I doubt I'd get ~£30 for the figure :S

Well got mine on Friday, got it from Tesco, so after some useful codes, it came to £70. Considering the game costs £40 i can't complain too much for what you get, of course we always want more, but since when has collectors stood for bargain? These things arent designed to be value for money :nea:. I think the unboxing below is one of a few that actually properly show off what you get, in some others the lighting or video quality makes it look worse than it is.

It's certainly something you have to consider but the main problem with CEs is that the game itself normally comes in at £10 below RRP whereas the CE or LE is always quoted at full price.

For me, anyway, CE's should always be £10 or so cheaper. Then you look at what you get in Dark Souls LE, for instance, at the reduced RRP of £40 and then compare the content with something like the Prototype 2 Blackwatch edition (RRP £70) and you wonder who's taking the piss. :think:

Yeah, but the UK is quite closer here compared to Australia, though, i order at Zavvi.co.uk quite a lot and mostly i have it within 3-4 days but this time it's just taking a lot more time. Amusing story . . .my local indy retailer has had one copy of the PS3 edition in for yonks. I've watched it fall to £80 . . .then £70 . . .down to £60 for a long time and, finally, £50 where it has stayed for weeks. I was told at another branch that it cost them £50 and wouldn't go any lower.

Today i walk into my local store and sarcastically said to the guy "has that Special Edition fallen to £40 yet?" - even though it still had the £50 label.

He said "If you want it for £40 you can have it - be glad to get rid of the bloody thing !!"

i went to london for a few days and checked out game store there. it was around oxford street/regent street area. they had the max payne special edition £35 no game. i would have bought it but thought the game is £30 now so it works out with game at £65. i thought i would rather wait for a price drop as so many of these seem to be not getting sold. that was on the 21st july so if anyone else is interested they could take a look
