Beautiful find. Didn't pay much attention to Amalur when it was still an MMO, but Reckoning plays like a proper sequel to Fable. And we all know we never had one.

I'd be dumb to sleep on the Signature Edition. We all know the story of the Dead Space Ultra Limited Edition.

I'm not sure if this is the same figurine from the Signature Edition, most likely it is, but it looks beautiful. If it is, that also means that it's not going to be exclusive to the Collector's and Signature Editions.

Well, the thing that is being numbered is the "Todd McFarlane sketch screen-prints," from 1-300.

So, there should only be 300 Signature Editions total, since there is only 300 of those.

I just confirmed that they are only making 300 total Signature editions. I also found out that they did not split the 300 copies evenly between the 3 platforms. Instead, they will make as many for each platform as were ordered.

I get the feeling that they'e gonna toss in the standard edition of the game with every order. Therefore, we'll be able to swap out the game later with a version from a different platform, should the need arise.

I really don't like that they're doing it that way (assuming that they do it that way.) I think they should, instead, create unique case art to differentiate it from copies that you could pick up at any game store; and I'd also like it if they would number each platform version. So suppose they only made 50 PC copies, they should number the game case (or other material within the Signature Edition) #23/50 PC copies for instance.

I hope they ship it with care =/I have a lot of experience with treehousebrandstores.com (http://treehousebrandstores.com/clients.php) stores (limitededitions.reckoning.com (http://limitededitions.reckoning.com/) is a THBS hosted site) and I can say after a staggering 40+ orders across all their stores I have received only 1 item with very slight imperfection damage (not even much to speak of). So that's a damn good track record. Considering the value of these editions I'd say THBS understands to pack well...

Oh, and for anyone doubting this game's status and reception in the Industry so far, I just have to say...

Your in for a good kick in the face once you realize just how amazing this game is! :P Everyone I talk to is excited more than usual for a game, and every review I read gives consistent and genuine praise to the game. 4 very famous and smart people were involved in the creation of KoA:R. I was one of the doubters, thinking this would be just another generic RPG, until I tried the demo and was completely ENTHRALLED and ABSORBED by how KoA seemed to bring together the best aspects of so many games and genres into one big ball of fun. :D

I'm keeping most of it sealed, but apparently the lithographs and stuff don't come sealed in shrink wrap.

Quick question, when you guys got your signed trolls, was the tape on the top of the troll box slit? Some have assumed it's to take out to sign, but I haven't seen my box yet so don't know, but was the tape on your boxes sealed or cut?

Cool, yeah cause' my troll figurine box isn't sealed. It's number 634. Also, the email posted on ebay about it having an unnumbered, 'hand made base' was not true and was posted by the seller to increase the price, the actual email for the signature edition (which I have) says hand signed base, which is accurate. The screenprint is separate and comes with the lithograph in a plastic sleeve, taped, and surrounded by cardboard. Since the troll figure and lithographs are packaged and separate, the game is literally just the limited edition, which you can still pick up for $80, and is one of the coolest collectors editions to date, I might get another just to open one and keep one with this edition, cause' it has cool stuff.

They come packed separately and placed individually in a generic shipping box. The art prints were sandwiched between the statue's box and the statue box slipcase.

I don't like that they slipped both prints in one sleeve. They do that at Treehouse all the time, I hate it. Not only that, but the cardboard insert is surely acidic (the plastic wrapping might not be acid-free either actually.) If you leave the prints factory sealed, over time, the prints might turn brown or yellow; especially the McFarlane print which is primarily white. I think I might just crack the seal to free the prints from their miserable wrapping.

My Mom is actually thinking about getting it professionally framed if it's really that valuable and get it acid protected. I am against breaking seals, but if it really is going to damage the screenprint, then I will definitely break the seal to keep it safe.

There are no serial numbers on the game CE cases. There are bar codes (with numbers) on the Troll statue box though, and there are bar codes (with numbers) on the shipping boxes. I'm going to email them and ask them if they can help me identify the versions based on the bar codes on the shipping boxes.

Just received my Collector's edition. The lithograph was not aligned with the box inside the slip cover and the bottom edge has a slight crease in the cardboard backing. It looks like the lithograph itself is just bent and not creased. Anyone think I should contact THBS about this? I doubt they'll do anything since the lithograph was a limited print.

If they're actually damaged, then definitely contact them. They might make you destroy those damaged lithos so that they can replace them with identically numbered prints.

Maybe because of the following quote from the order site;

those twelve lucky trolls for the exclusive edition are no different than any other trolls and ended up being numbered above 300, mine is 634 as I've said. Can't get pics till Tuesday but will definitely have them up. Anyone else on this site manage to snag an exclusive edition? I just got mine in today.... I got figurine #70/1600 (its right on the bottom of the box) and the autographed print in the front was numbered #47/1000

I haven't opened it up yet but I'll be taking pictures for the database this weekend.

shipping was rather sketchy... it's all just thrown in a box with no padding, thankfully, aside from a few scuffs on the top of the figurine box nothing was damaged.

Sketchy is an understatement; more like sheer BS.

One of my copies arrived beat up badly because of the piss poor packing. No bubblewrap, all contents mashed together. Shame on Treehouse.My copies arrived packed the same way (but lucky very little damage if any at all). In no way am I defending Treehousebrands, but please, don't place all the blame on them for the poor packaging. This packaging method of "fit to box" is VERY VERY common across the entire Entertainment and Retail Industry. Almost every online specialty store I've had collectibles shipped from they are packaged in this manner (fit to box w/ no padding or padding only on 1 side w/ a few air packets). If your going to blame anyone, blame the fucking INDUSTRY for making this kind of packaging standard. And in case your wondering WHY it's standard - well that is simple: IT IS COST EFFECTIVE.

If you want excellent packaging that will only be provided by private sellers, and the occassional amazon or ebay seller. I've dealt with this more times than I can remember and it frustrates me to no end that these retailers can't add 1 extra step to their packaging and put some bubblewrap, peanuts or air packets on all 6 sides of the box. Doesn't have to be fancy, just has to have SOMETHING there for padding...This is just a dream though.

Again, please don't put all blame on Treehouse, they were just following Industry standards like everyone else. They are really an excellent retail management company that I've had consistently excellent service from across all stores (mass effect, gearbox, dead space etc)

Curt's is the hardest to identify/read, but he does sign exactly the same across all instances so once you know it's his you can recognize it easy. I think Salvatore has the best signature. His will probably be the most desired "worldwide" but for those of us around here in the US, we know the fame of Curt Schilling so...

I would have preferred a McFarline signature since it's his troll design... I would suspect there is 100 of each signature, or rather 104 if you count the Exclusive editions.

Even the special edition was limited to 2000 units, which is pretty friggin low... I suspect that if this game sells well and gets a sequel these CEs are going to end up like the next DeadSpace...

I consider myself pretty damn lucky to have snagged anything at all. I got #632 of the CE variety
(not signature unfortunately). But my edition is still limited and numbered 300-1000 (700). Still quite rare.
I also have Ken Rolston print low # of 70/1000 (woo) so at least I scored there...+ not a shred of damage to
either of my boxes. In fact, the seal on my Special Edition game box is almost near perfect. It's so good I think it's worth grading...

Europe by my count....

We got Kingdoms of Amalur numbered sure but consider that within the last year or so ALONE Europe got:
-Fallout New Vegas (numbered)
-Emily the Strange
-Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
-Dead Island Treasure Edition

I think there was a numbered PC release as well but I can't remember it now.

The USA market is enormous, we have high production numbers on just about everything, so it's pretty uncommon for us to get a numbered release.

^ It depends, really. A Spawn fan will of course find the McFarlane signature the most valuable. A Red Sox fan would love to have the Schilling signature and perhaps, would love his troll to be numbered 38 or 86. A Star Wars fan could go for Bob's.

I personally favor the Bob signature, but if I didn't know a thing about any of the visionaries, I'd go for Todd McFarlane's since the Prismere Troll is his design anyway.

I have the exclusive edition screenprint at number 5 and the litho number 5, and I find the signature edition screenprint much more appealing, and would love to have a complete collection, will pay damn good money for it since it would probably help the price of the item significantly anyways. I would go through that work. Think of how much value it adds to the item. What's the difference between the exclusive edition and signature? The screenprint. Pretty much, this way, you're getting both editions, and they all share the same number, I think it would pump up the price of my signature quite a bit. Also I really don't like the concept art you get for the exclusive edition compared to the kewl one from the the normal signature edition. Also a little frustrated that we only get really high troll numbers, but what can you do about it? I could look for troll number 5 XD

I figured I'd chime in and note that my Collector's edition of Amalur arrived crushed. The goods were undamaged, but the box has some problems. Really wish they had packed some bubblewrap in there, because the part with the game was floating around in the box with no protection.

Another quick note: If anyone is going to Dragon Con this year, RA Salvatore is supposed to be there. Get your Ogre statue signed and you could get a signature edition that easily!

I'll probably just live with it. There was a letter in my box that said they would only accept returns that were shrink wrapped. Of course, I opened mine cause I wanted to play the game, so I guess I'm screwed on the return front.

Honestly, these companies really need to get a grip on who their CE market is. Certainly as collectors themselves, they must realize that the box is just as valuable as what's inside. This wasn't the first CE I've received that was shipping in a box that was fitted to size. Skyrim also had a similar box - I just got lucky with that one, same deal with Old Republic.

Anyway I'll live with it cause I mostly enjoy the extras. It just stinks to look on the shelf and see a wrinkled up box.

The McFarlane Sketch is hidden behind the Rolston lithograph so the only way to verify it is there is to open it. You have to do this. There is no way about it. The sketch print is too valuable and special to not check for it's presence.

It is also absolutely necessary that you open the troll box (not DOLL, it's a troll statue), unseal the styrofoam and check that you got a signed troll statue (and to inspect for damage or mistakes). Don't worry about it being sealed. The box is not sealed to start and the troll statue is only sealed with normal packing tape which can be easily resealed when your done inspecting.

You just can't buy an edition like the Signature and not inspect everything. It's not right and your only doing yourself wrong by not checking everything.

I didn't even slice it, I just gently pealed mine off, it didn't damage the Styrofoam at at all. Once I was done taking photos I packed it all back up and used fresh packing tape to re-secured it.

He has the Collector's Edition, which ORIGINALLY INCLUDED the signed Litho the only thing you got with the Signature was the signature on the troll and a numbered print.

That's why there were 1000 prints... 700 for Collector's Editions and 300 for Signature Editions.

The upsetting thing is that's not the signature screenprint, it's the exclusive edition one, meaning that the money I spent (and that others did) on what was possibly the rarest edition ever is like the blazblue DS special edition, said to have 200 numbered limits but really tons more exist and were given out unnumbered without being public (which is why they now say 'manga limitedly reproduced due to popular demand). He has an unnumbered one, but if others do, our numbered ones are worthless 1/12 really 1/12+x where x is as many as they feel they have to give out. I'm really dissappointed with this move. If you get a damaged edition, they should replace it or add something new, but not make more of an initially numbered item, that's just wrong. It makes the 12 exclusive editions not only a deceptive move, but pretty much a lie. When you number something, you don't got out and make more. It's like if they took the troll statues and decided to mass produce them since they're popular, it's not what you do. I hope this is the only one, if they are giving these out as 'sorry' cards I'll be extremely disappointed, you really can't trust numbered products I guess.

Of course if the majority of the goods manufactured are not affected then the company would not publicize the facts.

Evidently these manufacturing "defects" occurred during manufacturing of either the boxes/printing or packaging as consumers receive their goods in satisfactory condition on the outer parcel box, and yet when they open it, only to reveal large damages to the Troll box. I've heard of cases where the Troll box have received gashes and holes so large it looked liked it got a good punch in the face! :S

It would be devastating to open up a very sought after edition that cost a substantial amount of money and to be surprised/shocked with contents in unsatisfactory condition.

We all know that the whole Zavvi MGS HDC LE debacle was caused by Zavvi's incompetency to deliver goods in appropriate packaging, ergo, receiving goods in atrocious conditions. Considering how Stavie's was wedged into the box id say his was damaged due to some heavy handed idiot just forcing it in. My guess is that's the case with most of them, id definitely say the packaging of this is not adequate for a start. A few sprinkles of packing foam doesn't really cut it for me, how about you?

Yes, definitely what's inside that counts.

Considering I got Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten Premium Figure Set from NISA and received it in a small parcel box with not so sturdy/strong material, I received it with large dents around the box as if somebody played football with it! :S As I opened it up I was shocked to be surprised that nothing got damaged inside!! :whew: I guess I got lucky then :)

How easy is it to get a good scan of the sketchprint and photoshop the numbers out of it and get the scan professionally reprinted?

He claims in post 206 that they only had ONE unnumbered exclusive edition sketch to give out but according to Ebay they have more than one because the guy selling it on Ebay has another one. (Differently person and situation)

Now either the Ebay one's a reprinted fake, or Treehouse is lying that they only had 1 to give out.

The "Exclusive Editions" were an after thought to rectify the error in there ordering system, therefore, they were treated as "new" orders as the emails were replied to for an alternative version.

The 300 Signature Editions were already allocated for and locked in with sequential numbers well before the 'Exclusive Editions' were created. The Troll numbers for the Exclusive Editions were also allocated 'as ordered' therefore falling between number# 301 - 1012. [that's my theory anyway ;) ]

Yeah you may be right, some holes in his story.

Anyways every edition on Ebay right now is way outta my price range and I wouldn't wanna pay that much for an edition that has a plain outta box.

I think Treehouse handled the distribution very badly. The only resell value would be in the individual items since it's so awkwardly packed into a plain box plus if you got the signature edition you gotta open it up to check what siggy you got.

I'm getting mine framed very soon, just got a replacement troll box, it's still bashed, but not as bad. Shipped far worse too, it was once more just thrown in there, what's wrong with these people?

Also the hype around amalur has gone down significantly, what is the consensus of the projected price for the exclusive editions? There's probably no way of guessing or knowing right now but are we still guessing around 5x as much?

These are very disappointing results! So I've read good things about Treehouse and this is the first I've seen them deliver, yet the results are appalling in comparison to the ratio of damages and the quantity they manufactured!

Overall numbers are 3012 made with a fair bit of boxes [Troll boxes in particular] taking a beating! These are disappointing to me especially when everyone who ordered paid a premium for the editions only to receive them in less than perfect conditions! To make matters worse, the reasons for the damages are undefined and were not caused during transit.:nea:

i must have gotton off lightly. i had mine shipped to a routing company and then forewarded to me in Australia and the only damage was a slight tear in the limited box. the troll box was perfect.

That's not looking good for me. Do you guys think I'll be able to sell it eventually for more than 2500? The issue was unfortunately this all was packed in one package, they are pretty much separate items. If I knew that I wouldn't have payed anywhere near as much.

^ It depends, really. Some collectors don't really consider a CE as a CE if there's no box to contain all the contents. It's why the Ghostbusters Slimer Edition doesn't go as much as, say, the Fallout 3 Survival Edition. Right now, I'd value the Exclusive Edition at $1000. It may go for more or less in the future but more likely less. The recently-discovered unnumbered alternate McFarlane sketch screen-prints are the suspects for the supposed decrease in value.

Of course, this is pure speculation right now considering that 1) The CEs were just released last month and, 2) Amalur is a new IP from a new company and the value for the products will depend on how the franchise performs going forward.

I hope I make some money or I at least better break even on this ($2500), everyone here and all over the internet was hyping it so much that when the third on popped up on ebay, I took out a loan on it that I'm going to be paying back to my parents for quite a while, I was definitely planning on it going up in quite a few years, but staying at a really high price for a while, and i mean there were people saying it'd go 10 fold though I didn't buy that, I thought maybe 3 times as much which is still a good amount. Oh well, pray for the best.

the biggest decision was wether to keep the lithos sealed or not. I ending up having them displayed since they are packaged together, I was afraid of them bleeding colors into each other over time.

That looks spectacular. I would totally do that for mine if you think it's safe to do. I have a little smash on my troll case aswell, I'll take a picture of it and ask what you think VGA would give mine, I won't take it for less than 85+ otherwise there's no point. How much do you think that VGA grading will increase the price? Also, when you split up the screenprint and litho, did you send them together and ask them to split them or take them out and package them very, very carefully. On top of that, in the VGA grading case, are they protected with external plastic or something inside the giant case or are they just in there? I would have mine done exactly like how you had yours.
