It appears that Zavvi have already dropped the price by 10 pounds! Which is great because at 99 pounds...the UK would have been getting shafted then. As it is, it's surprisingly more affordable in Aus for prices ranging from $144-$148 for the console versions :bananayes:

this game and collectors edition has been DELAYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until MAY 15TH in NORTH AMERICA and MAY 18TH in EUROPE, giving rockstar games plenty of extra time to ramp up productions for thousands and thousands of more collectors editions even though they said it would be very limited with a small exclusive ordering window of about 2 months, but now they have addeed an additional 5 months to feel free to order by the dozens ;)...i'm NOT paying full price anymore no way!!!!!!

i think there should be a LAW!!!!!!! to protect consumers as far as when the manufacturer is allowed to use the word limited edition for a product..it should be capped off at a certain number or the law to individually number all products that are advertised as "limited edition" if a standard edition is also made available to consumers.

Thanks for this Gemini, just switched from Zavvi - been reluctant to switch as my Zavvi order was £87 so was cheaper than other places but at least I'll save a little more and the packaging tends to be better from HMV :)

Tell me about it! I even had to double check that it was the same edition because of the drastic price difference!

I think a lot of fans have complained that the CE was too expensive, and HMV would rather sell cheaper on pre-orders than reduce the price after release, which seems like common practice these days. No doubt the other retailers will drop their prices shortly...

I've got it for £80 shipped from HMV, $99 is a good price, but obviously there is the risk of international shipping causing damage to the box, and also, depending on the shipping costs, it might not be too much difference in price xx

Had play about with the Special Edition today. Not overly impressed, especially at the price it's selling for, so in Dragon's Den style, I'm out. Would have preferred bit more weight to the statue. Also, the game is bundled separately so isn't in the Special Edition box.

Yup, seems to be the case. Unless Gamestation asked for theirs to be different. Got one on display and definitely no game inside it. As the contents aren't console specific, the Special Edition is scanned at £60, then the relevent format game at £39.99.

As I say, that's how it is for us, could be different elsewhere.

Just had a look at your pictures, the one we opened didn't have the game inside that inner box you mention, seems strange. Might give work a heads up about it. Might be an in store thing so that we can sell the SE on whichever format. Will see how people report back today, as I'm intrigued now. Sorry for any panic caused.

I brought my CE from Zavvi and the game came outside of the box. I had to put it back in. As a consolation, everything else apart from the bullet keychain was sealed inside the box. Also came with a bullet pen which looks amazing.

just got my this morning and opened it - the game did come outside of the main special edition box but as far as i can see there is space inside the box to put it - makes me think they didn't have enough time to do it or something went wrong and had to leave outside of the main box but everything else is sweet - the little bullet keyring is very well made, as weighty as you would want, also came with the codes for DLC and soundtrack - i also hate that you don't get a CD anymore but what can i say - that is the what the internet has done to us...

I've not actually looked at the art prints yet but i was surprised to see there where bigger than i thought - worried they would end up postcard size but not - as for the figure i really like it, ok it's not Hot Toys quality but in my opinion it is very well done - the paint job is done well (on mine) and the base and overall size of it is very nice - weight is good, it's not heavy by any means but why would you want it to be? it is already on the base with no chance of falling etc so a non-issue for me - not played the game yet but first impressions are very good and so far i'm very happy with my purchase - no regrets yet.

Wait a minute Legend, you are telling me the game was sold separately from the Special Edition of Max Payne 3 in PAL region?! I can't believe it. Here in USA, we got the game sealed inside the big box and also the game is inside a special smaller box w/ design. This small box sits nested inside the foam the statue is in, at the top when you open the box. I feel sorry for the PAL region. It's very unusual for them to get screwed, usually it's the US customers. How aweful, that you guys in Europe didn't get it all in 1 package! It means you miss out on the smaller collectors box altogether.

Yeah packaging was ok, no bubblewrap or anything though which was worrying, but it was a big box, with the original shipping box inside it (the one that MP3 would have been shipped to HMV in) and then the SE inside that box, with some folded cardboard to buffer it around the sides.

Mint condition :D Not a single dent or scrape on it :D Very happy :) xx

Received mine from Mighty Ape today...and as a pre-order bonus, they threw in a large poster which was cool, but they also threw in a small tub of hair product which they stupidly put on top of the max payne box (was actually the bottom, but the box was inserted into the shipping box upside down), and due to the shipping box being a little too short for the giant SE box as well as the tub sitting on top, the box was really tight when closed and taped up and as a result this left a circle indentation on my box where the tub was sitting (if that makes sense).

Pretty pissed off, especially as I didn't even want that thing coz I shave my hair so have no need for hair product! I guess it's on the bottom though so it's not too bad, but still annoying.

I would have said that yes, it should enable you to get a pen, however they have removed all info about the pens from the site now so I imagine that only people who had ordered a PC version prior to the console versions releasing will be eligible, and any further orders for the PC copies, despite being preorders, will not be eligible.

The pen is really nice, and comes in a lovely little box (I was actually expecting it just to be in a little polythene bag of some sort) but I'm sure it'll be up on ebay in no time xx

I was really impressed with the double packaging that HMV used. Not sure whether this was intentional, or whether that's how they came, but I was happy that this CE was double boxed - Especially as they shipped via Yodel!

Not quite sure why my copy of the game was lying on top outside the actual CE box, but I suppose the CE was a generic bundle used for every country, and retailers had to add the game themselves.

All in all, very happy with this CE. As if we really needed another one with a huge statue...

I think the game is actually supposed to come inside, as there's a space for it, but the actual CE box isn't sealed. I would guess that this is so they can use the same CE for the UK, Germany, France, or wherever, and retailers can then insert their country's version of the game.

If they sealed the CE's up with country-specific games inside, then that would limit where the CE's could be sold. However, this way they can repurpose the CE's if need be to satisfy demand across Europe, as and where needed

Thanks for sharing the unboxing video...the bullets on the ground of the figure was a nice unexpected touch..i actually have this edition sealed...what makes me upset is first rockstar announced it has being EXTREMELY LIMITED and had a very short special pre order window for this edition..then, that was blown right open to flooding the market with this edition..i bought it during the so called "extremely limited pre order window' for $100...and fast forward today..it's still available for sale..and MORE THAN HALF OFF!!!!!..but i guess that goes for most collectors editions these days..limited edition just a BS marketing line these days.

That's true bud. Most limited editions/collector's editions aren't really limited and can usually be had at a discount a few months after release. It's usually only the CE's/LE's for big titles such as Assassins Creed 3 that usually sell out. I usually only buy CE's/LE's for big titles anyway, or games/series that I really love.

I was actually quite disappointed with the Max Payne Special Edition. First of all, the box doesn't even have any branding to distinguish what system it is for, making it really generic. The statue looks terrible...doesn't really look like Max, the paint job is crap (also too shiny) and it just looks like a kids toy more so than a quality statue. The prints...well, I just don't see the point in these really. I looked at em once then back in the sleeve and back in the box.
