Based on the pictures, it appears to be a tin slipcover which can hold three Amaray disc cases (Xenoblade Chronicles, Last Story, and Pandora's Tower)

I am hoping to receive my pre-order sometime in the morning, so I'll let you guys know what I receive. I'm expecting both to come separately though, if past HMV pre-order bonuses are anything to go by. Let's just hope that they have some common sense and don't ship them in a Jiffy bag like GAME did with the Mario Galaxy 2 tins!

A giant one of those, with a cardboard sheet inside (to "protect" the game and preorder bonus I guess?, which you could move the game around inside aswell, and the game was inside another grey bag INSIDE the first one, with the preorder bonus book inside the first bag.

I actually thought I was missing the "box" part because it was hidden, flat packed INSIDE the cardboard insert in the grey bag :/

Then thanks to their comedy packaging the box for the game was crushed and ripped down one side, not good for a LE item :rant:

So having spoken to customer services regarding their woeful packaging, which they blamed on trying to be environmentally conscious. I guess they don't know you can recycle a large cardboard box? My options are to either refund it and order from somewhere like Amazon or get a replacement from HMV and see if they can actually package it with any sort of protection, maybe a polite letter in the return package with some helpful diagrams of how to put things in a cardboard box? Not sure it's worth the uncertainty just for a rather cheap slipcase and a small artbook :???:

I've sent their customer services a rather irate email and re-ordered the special edition from Amazon who managed to send my Last Story LE in excellent condition.

Just keep the HMV goodies anyway and tell them it's compensation for the inconvenience or that they were that badly damaged, due to shoddy packaging, and they were no longer saleable and you didn't see the point in sending them back! :rotf:

This is not good information guys! I'm still waiting to receive my LE copy of Pandora's Tower from HMV which should have been with me on release day (Ie, Friday). After reading what you guys have said regarding the LE being unsealed and the pre-order bonus a flatpacked cardboard cover, I'm getting a little anxious!

Did anyone happen to pre-order this from another retailer, such as Amazon, ShopTo, PLAY, or GAME? Would be interested in knowing whether theirs come sealed or not, or whether HMV have been tampering...


My only guess is that these may have originally had standard copies of the game inside when distributed, and were maybe unsealed to replace with the SteelBook. At the very least, I expect them to be sealed on the outside with clear circular stickers the same as any other similarly sized LE (such as The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles, or Skyward Sword etc)

There still is a standard copy inside, the steelbook comes seperate.

As far as I know, all of the copies from UK retailers (unless it's all copies, from everywhere) are unsealed xx


EDIT: Sorry, by seperate I meant that the steelbook is still inside the box, but seperate to the standard copy. It's a standard copy, an empty steelbook, and artbook and a manual, all packaged inside the outer box.

I got one from hmv and one from amazon and neither were sealed.

I think I got a lucky escape again on this one. My amazon copy was in pristine condition. My hmv order had minor damage to one of the corners. Nothing worth crying about.

So let me get this straight. The big box comes unsealed, and has a standard copy of the game inside. The SteelBook doesn't come inside, but comes separate, as does the pre-order bonus from HMV. All of this is packaged poorly inside a grey plastic bin bag, rather than a suitable box. Is that about the gist of it?

There's definitely something fishy going on. I was under the impression that the SteelBook came inside by default. If the actual standard edition of the game isn't sealed either, then they're really taking the piss!

I can understand the outer box being unsealed to swap the standard edition for the SteelBook, but if what you say is accurate and the SteelBook comes separate, then why the need to unseal the box?

The pre order bound from hmv comes sandwiched and flat packed between 2 sheets of card.

The ce and it's contents (game, steelbool, art book & manual) come all in one unsealed box. The steelbook and games are both unsealed.

All sent in a big grey bag.

Well the one I have actually has a dark yellow spine triangle on the actual case, and mauve coloured flaps on the inside of the LE box, so these don't even match up!

If you have a mauve triangle on your actual game case from inside the box, then it appears that there are some variants around

I also don't understand why the LE has both the SteelBook and standard Amaray case? It also seems odd that the foreign (as in non-English) language instruction manual is separate as well. Nothing about this LE makes any logical sense!

Yes, I believe mauve is the proper colour. It's usual to see this alongside the EUR designation, or sometimes FHUG. I guess they used the same multi-language box for the whole of Europe, hence why it's not a country-specific release.

Typically UK releases should be a dark green with a UKV designation. Other countries each have their own individual colours. For example, I believe France has a dark red triangle. Scandinavian games typically have a greenish-yellow colour and SCN designation

The only two we should ever have in the UK are dark green and mauve. Any other colours and they're European imports

This dark yellow is a new one to me though, and even more unusual that it also accompanies the EUR designation. I don't understand why it's not mauve like the box flaps though?!

Yes Vhal I already registered Xenoblade and TLS...and when you have registered the three games, inmediatly redirects you to a page that tells you that you have for free this gift.

Then they send you an email saying, wait for instructions to get the free item...and now just waiting that email with instructions for the shipment...

For me it's one of the best stuff we have had in Europe since the mario anniversary coin. Not counting that this is for free...

Last thing they gave for free was a box of Proffessor Layton registering the first three games, for holding them...but this one is way much great!!!

If I were you, I would ask for friends to give their points if they don't care the collector stuff...

I'm going tomorrow to a friend's retailer if he has some nintendo stars that people left in the case when they resell the game...hehehehe... (So wicked...!!!)

there is a points card for pandoras tower on ebay but nothing for the others. if you do buy it second hand you have to make sure the points code is not used.

Steelbook was France only. You can get the pad bundle from Play and Amazon still.

The other 2 games are available most places, too. I'd go with Amazon for safety, if not just buy in store somewhere to check before you buy.

Nothing is for free mate. I actually had to buy the three games and use the points so it wasn't for free. Some people probably bought some games on purpose just to get these. It's a very long and unnecessary wait.

I also remember having some that I took photos of when I used to go to Blockbusters many years ago (it used to be in the case and didn't need scratching lol), it's probably still on my old phone camera back when they first were invented, hopefully I can find it if it is worthwhile.
