I went to pickup my Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition yesterday and to my surprise GameStop was giving away sealed G1 sized SteelBook cases with pre-orders for Assassin's Creed III on 360, PS3, and PC. The deal doesn't seem to be specific to GameStop as Amazon.com (http://collectorsedition.org/wp-admin/www.amazon.com/Assassins-Creed-III-Playstation-3/dp/B0079NGSHU/ref=aurobius-20) is also offering SteelBooks as a pre-order bonus. The Clerk also seemed to think that there was going to be a First Edition upgrade announced soon, similar to the Signature Edition for AC Revelations.

This is so right. all the AC steels are amazing. I actually love the FS black steelbook, i'd say its one of my fav's. If I were to pick a bad one it'd be the AC2 stickerbook.

It's strictly limited in numbers and only available until stocks last! So obviously, if you want it, pre-order a copy of the game [only standard copies available atm], then when the EB 'exclusive' CE becomes available, just upgrade to that and you will then get the book come release day!!! :bananayes:

Cheeky buggers at EB games didnt give me my book when i pre-ordered,they said we dont have any yet. They also forgot to give me my carrots to,lol.
Personally i dont think the book is a great pre-order bonus considering what you spend & even wrote to EB games to complain about how pathetic it is.
The email i got back simply stated we will try to address your concerns sorta bs. I would have thought that pre-order bonuses would be something worthy by now & not so rubbishy as a book. The steelbooks,fantastic & i cant wait to get mine. Only bummer was the postage cost me more than the steel book,the steelbook cost me $1.50 but postage was $18,go figure,lol

I don't know of when you did yours, but they were limited in quantity per store and only for a limited time. I did mine by the next day it was announced to make sure I didn't miss out. Although it's a relatively "cheap" pre-order incentive [it also only cost $10 for the novel], my intention is more of a preemptive preorder which I'll upgrade to their inevitable traditional "exclusive" edition at a later date. If I'm "forced" to purchase something for them I will take advantage of whatever they have to offer free from now until the day I collect! [and if anything...I could just cancel my preorders...free books yay! :lol: ]

Was told by them,order & get a free book,i think it even states that on the receipt i have somewhere. I dont usually buy from eb games due to their pricing etc but,you can get some bargains etc if you time it right & no what to say. I think the last thing was assassins creed animus edition,sold out everywhere,no stores had any left so i was told etc. I pushed,persisted etc & eventually the store i was in doing this found one that supposedly didnt exist in their storeroom,$100 later & it was mine. Considering some people are trying to sell just the encyclopedia out of them for $80 i think i did well.
Thats also the main reason i pre-ordered was to secure a limited edition when its here.
Also,i dont think or expect i will hear anything more from them. Which to me isnt good since we are the ones that keep them in business. As for a posssible steelbook or something else later,it hasnt happened yet. Occassionally you get lucky with a free upgrade or something,but that doesnt happen often here. We kinda get left out in some ways,which is stinky

Well,thats hard to say. Assassins Creed Revelations Animus edition only cost me $100 from EB games,so maybe it will be the same. Then again considering this is a whole new ballgame & not a continuation you may be right,they will go all out on this one. Be neat to have something like a cannon that fires something included,not a tiny one either but a decent size job. I got a feeling a battleworn American flag may be included somewhere but,i could be wrong,its just something that fits the time frame. What is going to frustrate me most is if theres 4 or 5 different versions of the same game,then you have to decide which to get or if you get them all,lol

Yeah, I feel ya. I may not be hardcore, so it will be sad not to get ALL the versions that will be released worldwide, it was sad enough not to get the Jack in a box edition is was more interesting than the bland colored codex box :S
I don't think anything will change though, all the big CE will be distributed regionally so we'll most likely miss out in one way or another.
Plus, to make things even worse/challenging...expect multiple Press Kits that can only be afforded by the keen or the lucky! ;)
I'll be happy with the inevitable 'EB exclusive' high end edition as well as the more available decently priced CE. Whatever the US gets I'll have to consider in the long run.

I would hazard a guess that since this is set in the American Revolution that the US will probably be on the cards for a top of the line collectors edition unavailable in other countries. Even then the US may still get more than one version like what happened with the jack in the box. It would nice & easier to have something universal but,thats what kinda makes collecting interesting(& sometimes a pain in the but),nobody has the same thing

i know the feeling, it's the thrill of the hunt if you're a die-hard fan. I rarely double dip. I could use some of my money for related merchandises. I rather whole-heartely would own any one(or all) of European's Collector's Editions if given an opportunity. Starting with AC1/AC2 Black, envy enough to kill--LOL, i'm joking don't take it literally:drool:. Mind blowing how much those are fetching for.

Basically, for once i like to see a franchise like Assassin's Creed do justice for the NA's market. Making up for those poor "collector's editions". I don't know, it's Ubisoft's call.

iIf you paid $130 in AU you got stung,EB games was selling them for $108,which is what i paid for mine. I rang EB games today to check they upgraded my version to the freedom edition & was told its going to be in very limited numbers here in AU,all other versions will be a bit more common.
Nice to have a meadallion,but i can imagine you will able to get those by themselves soon enough. Also,if you think about it,its 7 months to go till release so who knows what other versions,collectables etc are on the cards yet

True,being stung is a risk we all take,most of the time it pays off other times you dont really loose to much anyway. Agreed,EB AU has that weird habit of finding things that dont exist & selling them. I think most of the time they are returns that are put away as they cant sell them new,then are remembered about & put on sale. I remember a few months back their website listed Assassins Creed Codex Editions for $25,the minute i found out i went to get one but none could be found but,i did find a bioshock 2 speacial edition sealed though:)

The animus version i got was xbox 360,i dont generally worry about any other version of things. When i asked about it,they couldnt find any in AU left,i was just lucky the manager was there & remembered he had one put away.
I was late on the wagon for this as i was getting one elsewhere but it fell through,luck was on my side this time.

So maybe its a ploy saying there a limited run,but they do sell out of some things real quick.

Also eb games have this price match thingy as you know & generally if you say the right thing you can get things a bit cheaper,even if what you say is a little BS:lmao:
