Darksiders II Limited and Collector's Editions announced

Thanks to all the people who let us know about this recent announcement.

THQ has released details about both a Limited Edition and Collector's Editions coming for Darksiders II. The Limited Edition is a first-edition type release (meaning all pre-orders are automatically upgraded) it's essentially the Standard Edition with a DLC code for the Arguls' Tomb pack. The Limited Edition seems to be available on all platforms world wide.

The collector's Edition includes the limited edition along with a life-sized Death Mask, hard-cover artbook and DLC codes for the official soundtrack and the Shadow of Death Pack.

So far the Collector's Edition only seems to be available for Xbox 360 and PS3, and (at the moment) only sold through GameStop in North America at a price of $99.

You guys from the UK/Germany/Belguim/etc should just be a little more patient, you know the CE will definitely be available in your country or somewhere near but most likely for all major European countries. It probably takes more time to organize due to the usual UK/EU trading stuff?!?

Anyway, this seems to happen very frequently as it has in the past and other recent times where Australia is one of the first to make a preorder for such CE available well before UK/EU, it's a common occurrence and Australia and France is a good indication that everyone else in the PAL region will get a chance to get it locally.

FYI, it took a while after the UK/EU for Catherine Stray Sheep Edition to be available for preorder in Australia and I was never worried or panicky at all as I was confident it was going to become available locally. Capiche?! ;)

Patience young Padawan, if I were from the UK/EU region I wouldn't even bother with making a pre-order from France as I am very confident it will come! Even THQ has confirmed it's coming and not so tight limited numbers either...well, not the CE. I'd be more on the look out for a l33t edition that could possibly pop up somewhere in Europe.
THQ needs/wants to maximise their profit so they're not about to restrict the CE into some ridiculously small numbers, they're not even numbered in the US...the only edition limited for release is the PC CE for whatever reason they have.

A more recent example of things coming a little later for pre-order in Europe is the highly demanding is 'NECA's Portal 2 Gun'. It was available for pre-order in Australia and Japan well before the US and Europe, and then it finally happened and everyone is almost happy. :)

Only the Xbox360 version left at EB's online store (http://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-156992-Darksiders-II-Collectors-Edition-Xbox-360) for now, they may offer a few more closer to the release date.

As for EU/UK regions, they're probably still trying to work out who'll be selling it exclusively for some particular countries.
Amazon.de will probably get it, not sure who'll stock it for the UK though...I doubt THQ will give it to GAME :P

Darksiders II Delayed to August
Bad news for those that are looking forward to Darksiders II as, according to a post on the game's official blog, the game has been delayed to August from its original release in June. The post cites "polish" as the reason for this delay, and also hosts a brief Q&A, so I'm going to quote an excerpt from that:

Q.) Is Darksiders II being pushed back because of the recent layoffs at Vigil Games?
A.) No, the staffing changes at Vigil Games have not impacted the release date.

Q.) Is content going to be cut from the game?
A.) Definitely not! As we approached the game’s completion date, the team asked for more time to polish the huge amount of content included in this ambitious project. We are all committed to making Darksiders II the highest-quality game possible and the additional time will allow the team to do just that. The game content remains unchanged, as do our future DLC plans.

Q.) Are you truly pushing the date back to make Darksiders II a better game?
A.) Absolutely, that is the only goal fueling this decision. Nothing is more important to us than quality and thankfully our company’s current operational position allows us to make the right choice for Darksiders II.

What do ou guys mean France edition looks the same? The packing or the mask looks the same? From the unboxing video of the france edition, the mask have better and darker lines and the packaging looks WAY sturdier than the normal CE.

That's because you're comparing the french package to the US package. I am yet to see an unboxing video of the UK version.

And not just that. The back of the french version is in english as well. And 13000 masks is a very high number for a single country.

I recieved mine today (EU version). I think the box is sturdier than the US one. I'm generally satisfied with the mask, it's not anything special in terms of the material made, but it's pretty good overall.

You are, mate. From the french unboxing i saw the edition is totally different to the UK one. The box has no window - different artwork. The artbook is softcover not hardcover and the mask looks a different colour/texture. Also looks hand painted for the detail. The base also has some text plus a number denoting your edition number and the print-run.

Definitely vastly different editions although i'd prefer the hardback artbook. The french mask looks nicer though . . .so it's six and two threes.

The UK mask is a cheaper material, quite lightweight and plasticky. The base of the mask is also cheap, hollow plastic (similar to the baase of the Alduin statue from the Skyrim CE). The box is thin cardboard, with a cutout on front, with clear plastic holding the bits together inside. Standard copy game and hardcover artbook also.

French CE mask is made of resin or something, well made, heavy and much nicer overall. Base is also a resin-y material, and has a number out of 13,300 on the underside. The box is a thick flap over black box with lots of padding inside, and a plastic slipcover over it (with a peel off dust sheet type thing round it also). Standard coppy game and soft cover artbook (artbook is sealed in this version though).

Hope I helped. Both editions are sticker sealed. No cellophane/shrinkwrap xx

I haven't opened the UK one, but looking through the window on the box, I have to say, the quality of the UK one doesn't look as good as the French Premium Edition. Also, the box for the UK version feels really light in comparison. >.< The only plus points of the UK one is that it comes with a hardcover artbook and "Shadow of Death" DLC pack. Also, I'm not impressed with the continuing trend of Digital OST's with CE's nowadays... -_-

Lol I would say definitely, but my opinion is biased as I only have a French copy! Lol Those 2 are for a member here, so I haven had chance to dive into the UK version! Lol will see if there's a price drop on them in a few weeks and might grab a UK version! :D

I'm exactly the same as you at the mo, but I'm swaying toward the Agarest because a) it's a shopto exclusive and b) RPGs are popular although I hate them.

The UK mask is a cheaper material, quite lightweight and plasticky. The base of the mask is also cheap, hollow plastic (similar to the baase of the Alduin statue from the Skyrim CE). The box is thin cardboard, with a cutout on front, with clear plastic holding the bits together inside. Standard copy game and hardcover artbook also.

French CE mask is made of resin or something, well made, heavy and much nicer overall. Base is also a resin-y material, and has a number out of 13,300 on the underside. The box is a thick flap over black box with lots of padding inside, and a plastic slipcover over it (with a peel off dust sheet type thing round it also). Standard coppy game and soft cover artbook (artbook is sealed in this version though).

I haven't opened mine yet. So is the UK the same as the USA NTSC mask then? I heard that one is supposed to be slightly better detailed/painted than the european masks but a lighter/weaker construction. Or maybe we (UK) have something in between the two? :poke:

The UK and US masks are the same. It is the French exclusive masks (from the "Premium edition") which are far superior, being made from resin of some sort, and also numbered. Albeit the UK/US masks have a darker paint finish to them, so both have pros and cons. But I prefer the French one by far.
