Hi! Been reading on this site for a while and finally decided to join and share my Xbox collection with everyone else here! Even though my collection is small compared to some others here. :thumb:

I mostly collect the original Xboxs because they just look so cool. :2cool:

WELCOME! Quite impressive show of consoles you have! It always fascinates me to see collectors who have all the different limited and rare consoles. So expensive to collect! As nipper said, you should get to know some of the other "Xbox" and "console" specific collectors here. Who knows, you may work out a trade in the future!

Well, I search for them everyday, if I see a rare one I'll let you know! :) You also have some original ones I don't have. I feel compelled to buy the Kasumi DOAU edition now just because I have the original version of it.

I got several on my list that I have a feeling will be a while until I acquire them. Just nobody selling them. :(

Welcome:) Hope you enjoy your stay.

Kudos on getting that german world racing xbox, thats probably the rarest i know of.
I think from memory only 6 were ever made & given away in a contest, great find:drool:
Well, there was one other thats theres only one of in the world but the chances of finding
that console are a million to one,lol

Decided to do a little update here.

First off, an original Xbox refurbish box. I didn't have one before and thought it would be neat to have.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg36/scaled.php?server=36&filename=dscn1280x.jpg&res=landing

Second, the "Not for Resale" version of Halo 1. The one that came in the Halo Xbox console bundle.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg856/scaled.php?server=856&filename=dscn1282h.jpg&res=landing

Lastly, a Second Anniversary Xbox console. Everything is brand new, never used or taken out of the packaging. However there are some creases in the box on the front. It is #304/1000.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg11/scaled.php?server=11&filename=dscn1268xl.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg801/scaled.php?server=801&filename=dscn1271y.jpg&res=landing

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg98/scaled.php?server=98&filename=dscn1276qr.jpg&res=landing

And if your wondering what the brown box is, that is the original shipping box it was shipped in way back. As you can see, it is pretty snug.

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg163/scaled.php?server=163&filename=dscn1278un.jpg&res=landing

I haven't seen any other of these shipping boxes so I think it is pretty special just by itself. :)

Good to see you bit the bullet & got an anniversary edition:D The only thing i hate about sealed items is the temptation to open them, lol

MoonTar

Yup, good thing they never sealed the boxes, otherwise I might not have been able to look at any of it. :-/

Ooh pretty....

I think I like the 2nd anniversary the best although it's hard to see the console itself.

It looks so nice all white like that. A lot classier imo compared to some of the other ones.

I think the original shipping box is probably quite rare.

Not that there would be much of a market for it right now but I remember someone was selling maybe 6 sealed NES's or SNES's but what really brought up the auction value was the fact that he had the original shipping box for them which apparently no one else had.

So in 15 years or so, that could be worth a small fortune :rotf:

Actually that's a fair point, are there any microsoft/xbox logos or markings on the shipping box?

MoonTar
11-27-2012, 05:11 AM
Actually that's a fair point, are there any microsoft/xbox logos or markings on the shipping box?

On one side there is part of the original shipping label that is from Redmond Washington but that is about it. Although I think it is pretty clear it is the original box because it fits the console perfectly. Which is also bad because there is no padding inside, which is also why there is some damage to the front of the console box because the shipping box was damaged.

And yes, the console is hard to see with the plastic on it, but the plastic has never been taken off so I don't want to take it off. :)

That's too bad. I think the shipping box I was talking about had the nintendo logo on it which was probably what made is so desirable.

Sorry if it wasn't clear but I would never ask a true collector to open something sealed just to let me get a better view :)

MoonTar

Well,i know where the launch console i was trying to buy went, lol. It doesnt matter if a majority here are current gen or not, theres still a few diehard oldies that love this stuff &/or collect similar like myself:) Scrolling down the pics it was a omg fest, first the launch with all those lovely green dukes, then a Dakota & an Alamo onto a hammerhead. Some holy grail items for xbox collectors & the pics just kept going. Damn hard to find anywhere & most dont even know about them. Mut have been some lucky finds,a heck of alot of searching or alot of begging ,lol:D

I doubt that was the same Launch console you were after. I bought the second one in two different pieces. :rotf:

Yes, a lot of searching was involved. The Hammerhead was found on Craigslist and the Alamo I saw bundled with a console as soon as it was posted on Ebay. :)

The other one would be the Batman Arkham City console, the employee one maybe if I can find one cheap, which I have several times but they are never complete, mostly missing the controller. Much like the original Xbox Launch console. People always be losing the controllers. :nono:

Hello, sorry to thread-jack.

I'm wondering if you have any information about my orange "Xbox Live" original Xbox controller. Have any idea how many of these were made, or who they were given to?

http://i.imgur.com/tN6h3.jpg

I've found various references to this controller on retro gaming forums. The only confirmed pic I've seen of one (other than mine) is in the original Xbox trophy case on the Microsoft campus in Redmond, WA, as seen in this tour of the Xbox Live Operations Center:

http://console.hardocp.com/article/2006/10/30/inside_xbox_live_operations_center

This image is also floating around the internet, although I have no idea who posted it.

Thanks!

Ah, the orange Xbox Live controller! I know about it, they were given to Microsoft employees/members of the Xbox Live Launch team back in the day. I have no idea how many were made but not very many to say the least. There are indeed very few pictures of it floating around. I have a couple of pictures that people have sent me of theirs though. I haven't posted those pictures because they were from private collectors. Not my place to.

I myself have been trying to find one for a long time but it always seems to slip threw my fingers. =(

That other controller you have there in that picture you probably know all about but just in case you don't, that is a prototype 'Dakota" Duke controller. Among the original Xbox prototype controllers it is the most common but finding the original breakaway cable can be tough. They always seem to be missing and without them they don't work so having it is important. =)

Also, very cool gallery you linked to! I knew of that display but that is the first time I have seen close up picture of it.

Thanks for the orange controller update. I'd be very interested in seeing pics or hearing how other collectors came across theirs, if/when you're willing to post!

Funny you mention the Dakota controller... I stopped by a thrift store between posting and reading your reply, and wouldn't you know! Dakota with breakaway cable. Different than the Duke breakaway. Picked it up for $2.99.

http://i.imgur.com/lBO5p6Q.jpg

The [H] tour is pretty cool... I was very excited when I found it. Just had a low-res pic of the case, before. I've been meaning to figure out which MS building it's in. I hope it's still there. I suppose it's possible that my orange controller and the one in the case are one and the same.

Contacting some of the staff named in that post might be a good source of rare original Xbox products info.

A couple other cool controllers in there. The silver one looks one-off... have any idea what the blue one is?

Well, it is no mystery how those other two people I know got their hands on an orange Xbox Live controller. One is a Microsoft employee and the other bought his or hers from a Microsoft employee. lol The best picture I have of one that was sent to me from another collector has the person's Ebay name in the photo so I doubt they would want me to post it. lol

Very cool to find a Dakota for $2.99! I know a guy that does some work in Seattle that found one for $5.99 earlier this year. Haha. I would plug it in and make sure it works on a console just to be sure it is the right breakaway cable. =)

That clear controller I have heard is a prototype for the crystal clear controller that came in different bundles in various countries. Not the US unfortunately. I have never seen one outside of that display case and do not know of anyone that has one.

I have contacted many Microsoft employees about different items. Mainly to try and find a clear orange Xbox Live controller and only 3 so far even knew what I was talking about. Haha.

So are you yourself a collector of the Xbox or just a lover of thrift store buying? =)

General video game collector, mostly Nintendo. Special emphasis on hardware, promo items, memorabilia, etc.

I may sell the orange controller at some point in the future. A couple people have been pretty interested. Will stay in contact!

Ah, cool! You should post some pictures of your collection! =) I don't personally collect Nintendo stuff but I love the N64 console boxes. I have a mint Jungle Green console box from when I was a kid. I even have all the little baggies that held everything inside. That being said though I have no idea where the console itself is. lol I was more worried about the box. Boxes are awesome. Haha.

Well add me to that list of interested people if you ever decide to sell it! I would say keep it unless you really need the money though. It is an awesome piece to have in any collection. Plus it is like the only orange item Microsoft ever made Xbox wise besides maybe that one console. lol

I guess this was the auction to get in on. Howard "Gamemaster" Phillip's Xbox stash, including the mounted "first" Xbox disc. Sold (or didn't meet reserve?) at $6,600.

I wonder why what mounted disc isn't in the trophy case?

That auction did sell for $6,000 to a private collector. It is a good question why that guy had it but I just assume it was a gift he received.

I forgot about those! Yes, those are cool! Mine were actually used in the testing of Xbox Live but most came in the Xbox Live 1 Beta Kits. I know someone who owns a few of the cards but I don't know if he would sell any of them though.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/560/d2tl.jpg

Sealed Controllers - Duke is a bit damaged and fishing controller has obvious fading. The reason there are two black s-type controllers is because one is from 2002 (on bottom) and one is from 2003 (on top). The one from 2002 still used the same packaging as the Duke controller but this was changed the next year to the smaller packaging.

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/407/0j27.jpg

Interesting item here the "GAME COMMANDER". The unreleased headset accessory for the Duke controller! The simple reason it was never released is because the Duke was discontinued and since the headset was made around the Duke it was thus canceled. The magazine picture is from December 2001.

How much are those orange memory cards going for ??

Recently they have been selling for over $100 thanks to Ebay hype. They shouldn't be worth anywhere near that though. They were given to Xbox Live beta testers of which there were a lot. In the past the average price was around $15. I will say at least that the caps are harder to find than the card itself but still doesn't make it worth close to $100 at all.

The memory cards I have were actually used in the development of Xbox Live hence whey they have labels and numbers on them. Each one has an Xbox Live account that is numbered after the number on the card.
