After reading about the signed plasma cutter, I decided to share my experience...

A couple of weeks back, I received this PM on this very site no less. He has asked me to blank out his name because, well you'll read this in the few PMs that went back and forth.

"Hello there

First off, I want to make clear that this is not a troll post, so if what I write sounds implausible, please don't think that this is a joke. I am happy to provide you with photos of the things I discuss below.

Allow me to introduce myself. I am *blank*, I work as *blank* with Capcom/SSG, and I have a tradition: every time I finish a game, I try to find a gamer that shares my passion for games and send some unique memorabilia to that person -It is something I would ideally like to do for everyone who plays the games I make, but of course that is impossible, so I try to find one every time I ship a game. Call it spreading good karma if you like.

I saw your posts on the Collectorsedition.org (I lurk here quite often), and I thought that you would appreciate getting some Resident Evil merchandize that will never be available to the public. I really like the passion you have for the RE franchise.

So I put aside a Umbrella that was custom-made for the dev team (much bigger/higher quality than the one available in the Capcom shop with cooler logos), and a poster of the game with the Dev Team autographs, and I am happy to send them to you free of charge.

Let me know if you are interested!

Thanks,

*blank*"

"Hi *blank*,

I must say I feel truly honoured to be picked out of millions of others for what you are offering.

I'm struggling to get my head round that you chose me. But I'm incredibly grateful and thankful.

I've been a huge fan of both Capcom and Resident Evil. This will only continue my love for such a wonderful franchise.

I can't believe you picked me! Is it ok to share this news?

But to answer your question. Yes I am interested!

Kind regards
Clark"

"Hello Clark,

I chose you based on how you wrote you posts on this forum: you are just as passionate about the franchise as me, but you are also polite to others (VERY rare in games forums). I picked you the same way every time I finish a game. I just pick a person that "feels" right.

I know a lot of game fans feel that us game developers don't care about their fanbase -and I'd like to convince at least one person per year that it is not true.

I am fine if you let people know, but please don't mention my role/real name as we are normally supposed to let Capcom PR handle these kind of things.

OK, to business... I will send the stuff to you this weekend, all I need is your full name and address. I will send you the tracking number as well, so you can let me know when you get it.

I'll upload photos of the goodies this week as well so you'll see what you are getting, and send you a link.

Thanks,

*blank*"

Reading that reminds me, there are some really kind hearted people in this world. Total respect to that person. :-) and he couldn't of chosen a bigger resi fan to pass it on to.

its great that some people involved in the game industry truly care about their fanbase. Being a massive Resi fan as well, that umbrella is awesome

Congrats on being recognized for your passion! It's awesome to see and read stories like this.

It just serves as a reminder that most of the people who are responsible for creating the games (and of course all the rad swag) that we all love, are no different than we are -- just passionate fans.

Congrats on the items,

It impresses me that a game/developer takes time to to interact with it fan base.

As with the others, a worthy choice to get these great items also.

Thanks for your comments :)

I can't believe how lucky I was to be picked. Without a doubt ill be treasuring these along with the rest of my resi evil collection for a very long time.

Oh and Ferrari, I still owe you feedback for helping me out with the ORC limited editions don't I?

On an unrelated note, how cool is it that game companies lurk on here,

One thing i'd love to see if we could convince them to have official accounts so we can communicate to them

Imagine how much better situations like the MGS fiasco would have been with someone from the company to communicate to

Agreed, some are already on like Ross @ ghostlight and Andy @ Pqube.

I don't think anyone thought MGS HD was going to be one of the biggest screw ups in history.

What can I say, this kind of stuff only happens in my dreams! Nice post, specially for the fact that there are real game companies people among us!
