I'm just starting out so I don't have much. I'm still looking for a good way to display my steelbooks, then I'll post some pics. I'm looking for mostly 360 collectibles right now, but I my be interested in a few PS3 items. I've already contacted a couple of members about my interests. I usually find that the hunt for new steelbooks is enough to overcome my doubts about collecting

How actively do you search for new steels? Often times a good deal on a steel or a rare find will keep my interest up

Just my thoughts of course and you're the second steel collector in as many days to tell me they've lost the desire to collect

Sad to hear you're starting to lose interest, Strizay.

I think it's affecting a lot of people right now, what with more and more steelbooks and CEs being pumped out every month (as opposed to just for the bigger game/movie releases), so it kinda takes away from that "special"-ness.

I've not lost my love of collecting (touch wood), but I am getting a little bit exhausted by all of the CEs and steelbooks that end up bundled together in such a short space of time (since I simply can't afford to get all the ones I want) :facepalm:

The companies need to take a step back, and see that they're making CEs/steelbooks and other "collectible" packaging, well... less collectible, by doing it for everything.

dont get too defeated there is more to collecting than just buying what you are after, there is the social side i.e this website, i find even if i cant afford or obtain something, someone here usually does and i can enjoy it that way, keep the faith and dont forget if you surround yourself by to much of anything it can become overbearing no matter how much you enjoy it.

so just take a small break then see how you feel

I just picked up God of War: The Hydra Battle from Ebay for $5 shipped. I can't believe it's really not worth that much. It'll look good in my collection though.

Hey Brian nice updates but you're sounding weary...

Like others have said the pleasure lies in many different places - either in finding stuff that delights you visually, aesthetically or sensorily or because you succeed at a challenge you set yourself - getting a steel or a CE.at the best price you've ever seen maybe. There's also a heap of pleasure in sharing a common interest or hobby and personally I mostly find pleasure in getting unique stuff for the games I love playing the best

But, at the end of the day, it has to give you pleasure as it takes time and energy and both are precious :)

Once that goal is reached or I fail bad enough, I move on to the next. I have reached most of the goals that I mentally set for my self when I first began collecting. They are pretty good and they do the job for what they cost. You can tell by my past couple of posts in other threads what my newest obsession is. The new Tomb Raider steel. And it seems like nobody that is able to get it for 5 EURO is trying to help me and it's driving me insane. LOL

I play games on my 360, it's an rgh so I get pretty much everything new and the dlc. everything on my shelf that you see pretty much is just the empty steelbooks. I don't know how long I will last doing this latest thing.

I'm already over the currency thing. That didn't last long at all.

Thanks for the comments Lyrical. I have the EU steel but not the FS / Target steel, yet. Still working out the details. I love the CE. I just can't no matter what I do get the figurine of Lara to stand for more than a minute or so. I am considering velcroing her feet to my stand.

Those little steelbook stands are great, and for what they cost, they more than out weigh their value. The only problem is that Wal-Mart never keeps enough in stock. I have to buy all of them at a time when I see them. Which is usually about 4.
