Two CEs announced for Bioshock Infinite

Irrational Games recently announced two Collector's Editions for the upcoming Bioshock Infinite.

The Premium Edition will retail for about $80 USD and includes:


a 64 page "Art of Columbia" hard cover artbook

a 25mm resin-cast handyman figure

a "Devils Kiss" Lithograph

a 3 inch resin-cast hand-painted "Murder of Crows" keychain

a Digital Soundtrack download

a three exclusive in-game power-ups

a additional exclusive dlc (costumes for the Xbox 360 and themes for the PC and PS3)

The Ultimate Edition will retail for $150 USD and includes everything from the Premium Edition in addition to a limited "Songbird Statue". Designed by Robb Waters (concept artist at Irrational Games) the Songbird Statue is resin-cast, hand-painted and stands 9.75" tall.

Bioshock Infinite along with these two editions are scheduled for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on February 26th 2013. I was waiting for this annoucement for a long time! Beatiful editions, especially ultimate one. However I'm quite dissapointed with packaging. I was expecting something special - like fan made old school traveler's suitcase, really special concept. Anyway I'll wait for price check here in Czech rep. and will decide which one.

After my experience with the Skyrim CE I'm a little on the fence about getting the Songbird edition: while the Bioshock CE's have all been great, I thought the same about Bethesda prior to the 'dragon'! Despite better judgement I've put in for a preorder, just hope the quality of the Songbird statue is on par with the Big Daddy from the first Bioshock CE.

That means nothing. Look at the Borderlands 2 Loot Chest. And the COD Care Package.. and the many, many more GAME exclusive CEs there have been in the past.

Majority have been mass produced. The only one I remember from recent memory that was properly limited was the Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition xx

Well for PC you are mistaken, the Borderlands loot edition has not been back in stock since it originally sold out via pre-orders - they seem to do more truly limited runs for PC games as they sell in far lower quantities.

I agree with most of what you say, hence why if they are still in stock near launch I will cancel.

Yes they were, but they were bought out so are no longer in trouble but have scaled back operations.

And yes it weighs 1.8kg.

It means there will be less units in total to shift - otherwise it would be available everywhere (like Bioshock 2).

I bought Alan Wake CE (that's over 1kg) and they sent it. So you can try pre order it and see what happens.

i just finished pre order it from the game.co.uk store 2 portugal and still havent received any email cancelling it, when i get back from work i will see my email box and let you guys know.

It charges upon release, and also if the item is over 1KG, it tends to be closer to release that they cancel it if they won't ship to you. So if it doesn't cancel it now, don't just assume that your order is safe, as it may not be :( xx

My biggest problem is that i use a service called mbnet, that creates a temporary virtual credit card attached to my bank account that its only active for some days, so when they try to charge me next year, the credit card will no longer be available.

Thanx mate! I thing Germany mainly localizes their video games, while they don't have english audio/text, I'm not sure of course.

I've completed all 59 levels and it tells me that my "Vox Populi Image Pack" should be available if I click "My Rewards" above, but then after I click that, nothing loads for me, just the background image of the airship.

Bioshock art is one of the best in my opinion. Unfortunately they put only small part of bigger artbook in Infinite's CE's. You can wait and then decide but I think you won't regret buying the A4 artbook.

as for how limited same applies it will not be known until it releases and aviability truly shows

finally the code for the pc pre-order game, stick a couple pre-orders in at amazon uk give it 48 hours and a code should be e-mailed to you i had to do this twice as the first time no code came

I think GAME's pricing is a bit whack, the pc version is the only reasonable one... luckily the one I'm getting. I'm generally not too bothered about editions not selling out and I doubt they made enough for it to be around for months and drop to half price, but we'll see.

Either way, the statue looks infinite-ly (hah) better than the God of War one which is ?75, so I'm content with paying ?15 more for this (would be nice if they had thrown the steelbook in though).

Hard to tell with GAME exclusives. The Borderlands 2 Loot Chest sold out in a day but there seemed to be plenty to go round just after release.

The vastly overpriced Resident Evil 6 CE was well undersubscribed and came down from 130 quid to 60 quid but, strangely, now you can't pick it up for under 90-100.

Even going right back to the Castlevania CE with the mask, there wasn't much interest at the time but try to find one now.

Think i might leave the pre-order intact and hope for the best . . .:beg:

I opened the webchat on 3 different browsers, eventually one of them got through at about half 4 so if u have problems in the morning just do that.

Took me about 30 minutes of trying between 4 and half 4. The guy was really helpful so hopefully you will get the same result. =] Just wake up tomorrow before 9 to be sure before they start relisting!

Jeezus !! what a palaver. GAME make me very nervous.

Spoke to somebody on the webchat this morn and they said my bank refused the payment. Unreal !!

I've been with my bank for 30 years and they've never blocked a payment yet. I had enough funds and my bank details were up to date and correct.

To get my order reinstated I had to type in my bank details on this webchat screen which i wasn't happy about and when i pointed out that all my bank details were there in my account records, I still had to type them in otherwise the re-order couldn't be processed. I mean, what the frag is that all about ??

Anyway, finally got the money taken from my account and a shipping confirmation received.

And, all this aggravation for a guy who pre-ordered the day it was listed.

Despite getting this sorted I'm still amazed that this outfit can operate with a bunch of monkeys. Online ordering definitely AIN'T the way to go as far as I'm concerned.

:stop:I think this will be my CE of the year even if it is a tad overpriced for what you get. Of course, the statue makes it because the rest of the package is quite bog-standard.

Deciding factor, though, is the game itself. Stunningly beautiful and a solid first person game.

Would like to have seen it come in at under a hundred notes . . .:think:

Yes that statue is fantastic. I wasn't sure how it was going to be at first but once I saw it in the flesh then it was a different story.

My thing with the box set though is that they could have quite easily included the art of book and the Fink steelbook case. They only had to expand the box slightly to fit the book in.

That may be the case but I still say that when your paying triple digits for a CE then you'd expect it to have every thing in it. Yes I know this isn't the case. Dead Space 3 being a case in point. They could even have charged a higher price. I'm sure the majority that collect these kind of editions would've paid the extra. You can still have the store exclusive steelbook incentives and sell the art book seperately. I guess it's a question of what people are willing to afford.

Considering there are 3 separate art books available for purchase separately from the little one in the Dead Space 3 CE as well as 5 unique steelbooks, I think that would be a rather large box, don't you?
