Those are not limited edition systems at all they are just system bundles there a big difference on bundle and LE systems. If you want a true LE system there plenty but most if not all are Japanese are 1 of a kind you never going to get your hands on anyway. If you want more information hit me up i know just about ever limited edition ps3 out there.

@rockchalk I'd just wait on a bargain deal from your awesome Black Friday sales in the US.

@Geralds I don't believe any of the Limited Edition in Japan or Asia are unobtainable, I've always found a way of acquiring one or able to one way or another...it's never been almost impossible. Some may be more challenging, but I think the PSP/Vita LE are harder to obtaining or way more expensive! (I'm looking at you FF7 and MGS PSPs) ;)

There are a few LE ps3s from north america your simply never going to get simple as that.

I was speaking of the Japanese/Asian LE consoles, not the North American one (there's only been one officially released at retails stores). And I wasn't counting special custom consoles only made for contests and charities. I had to presume @rockchalk was inquiring about PS3 consoles available to buy at retail stores, and not elite consoles that are extremely rare with only 10 or less released off-market. It sounds as if @rockchalk is a new PS3 gamer to me?!

Sorry @rockchalk, I think your best option is just to get a standard PS3 console with maybe a game bundle or whatever the best deals are available in the US. If you're planning predominantly game on it, you may as well just get a local console rather than a limited edition from a different region.

This is the only true LE PS3 console released in North American retail market, and probably not worth gaming on unless you only want it in your "collection".

@geralds None of the pictures work for me with your links sorry, all I get are "403 Permission Denied".

Anyway, I think there's something being misinterpreted with my exposition therefore I atone for the inherent misdirection.

@rockchalk, I hope you've understood what I've posted. Thanks.

I think rockchalk might want a system that he can walk into a store & purchase over the counter not somewhere you send your PS3 in and have it gold plated or whatever.

Gerald there is only been one limited edition ps3 bundle sold in the U.S and that's the 40gb metal gear solid ps3 bundle. All the other ones that you are mentioning were never sold to the public, and the other limited edition consoles that were available like the 160gb uncharted ps3 bundle, 80gb metal gears solid ps3, 80gb motor storm bundles are not really considered limited editions, since they produced alot of those and the 40gb metal gear solid ps3 there were only 12,000 of those available.

There are also 80 gig made metal gear solid system as well that are backward compatable but those were only in the US.

I don't consider this a limited edition since all they did is get a system and add a game to the bundle.

why is it too difficult for sony to add a few ACIII themed decals or art to the system?..is it asking for too much..they do it constantly for Japan and Asia..Big AAA titles like these deserve some attention too!..and you know they'd sell a lot more...why can't sony marketing wake up to that idea?

You would have a easier time convincing Microsoft to do this then Sony. Sony only seems to care about promoting the bigger Japanese products in Japan iv never seen an american game ever get a nice system decals for playstation. At least microsoft is doing for non Japanese made games heck even movies and other stuff get LE Xboxs as well.

Japan is NTSC-J so it is compatible but PS3 games are region free regardless

The real tricky part is DLC as that has to be used on a PSN account from the same region I believe???

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Nope dlc has to match disc not console.

Does this count as a "limited edition" PS3?

A Bento Box PS3 :nosleep:

http://www.4gamer.net/games/182/G018237/20121214015/SS/002.jpg

SONY today it did show off the bento box the food will go in. The bento box that looks like a new PlayStation 3, that is.

Creating this bento box required both the work of a laser cutting machine as well as a traditional wood craftsman. According to 4Gamer (http://www.4gamer.net/games/182/G018237/20121214015/), the box was then treated at a traditional lacquer-ware studio in Kyoto. The resulting lunch container is an elegant combination of tech and tradition.
