I did get charged upfront but then when i checked my credit card account today I noticed that the payment had dropped off. So they do charge your account as a way of verifying the account is valid and you have the money, but then after a couple days the charge will disappear and the money becomes available again. They will then charge you the amount when it ships.

Oh, right, so that's what the case is. I know, I've been experiencing this from some stores too. Totally bothersome if you ask me, especially when they don't outright state they will be first checking your card if it's legit...
