It takes only a few minutes to setup a paypal account, the only reason they would not accept pay pal is if they were banned in the past. There are ofcourse other reason but if he sells items and refuses paypal,then I would be wary.

It's important to know that unless to go via ebay, you have no paypal protection anyway unless the item never arrived, This ofcourse depends on the funds in the sellers account after the claim. If it arrived damaged then there is no protection at all.

If you pay using your a credit card in paypal, then you have some protection.

All the other choices are considered unsafe, Bank transfer, Postal order, credit union, etc.

You have to go via feedback of the seller.
