But I remember the theoretical maximum of blue ray on its initial release being around the terabyte mark, with confirmed 3 and 4 layer discs already been manufactured and working 8 layer 200GB

Oh yea and I forgot to mention the 1TB Theoretical BluRay now I know its not technically a blue ray disc as its not made within the blue ray specification, but such a thing was rumoured in blue rays early days back in 2006/7 that there isn't a 2 layer limit for the fine blue laser and the limit was theoretically quite high as it wasn't down to the laser as with the DVD standard but down to the disc and how many could fit onto the disc
