I've never known Dark Souls to have gotten a 'steelbook case' to begin with, the main changes it had was about the strategy guide turning into a DLC instead of a physical book!
EU Contains:- The Dark Souls game [Cardboard Digi-Pak game case]
- The Artbook
- The Making of DVD
- The Official Sound Track CD
- The 'Complete' game guide (downloadable)
US Contains:- Limited edition art book
- Mini-strategy guidebook
- Soundtrack for digital download
- Standard edition game
- Custom-designed metal case
There is quite a difference between the two regions, while the US gets a tin [which is pretty nice] their guide book is only a basic version though the EU gets a full digital version instead [far more helpful if required imo].
At least having the CD for the soundtrack will allow you to transfer it to your mp3/ipod players rather than limiting it to your console(?).
I may have to consider getting both types then

Btw, I still have 2 sealed copies of The Black Phantom Edition

[translation = I haven't played the first game]
