That's partially the mindset that I was trying to breakdown and analyze. If it's very rare/highly unlikely for you to sell, then why would monetary value out-weigh using/enjoying your things?

And many, many new items don't come mint--especially upon close, careful inspection. So I'm not of the mind that leaving them sealed really serves that purpose all too well. Boxes can still receive any imaginable kind of damage, Steelbooks can be dented and even scratched, and cases and inserts can also still messed up. The contents of the package will stay mint, but it's really not that hard to keep them that way, anyway haha.
