Oh, you're doing it wrong. Find a small local shop and they'll do a much better job than Michael's for a lot less money. I've done some really nice 18 x 24 custom jobs with wide mats and museum glass for $250 to $450.

24 x 36 will be steeper, but at least in the States you can get nice pre-made frames for $60 with glass (or even less with a sale). I have a ton of my art in Aaron Brothers frames, or there's Dick Blick in other parts of the country....
